Belated Birthday Dinner.
As promised, here is Mr. How Sweet’s belated birthday dinner!
I’m sure it’s not hard to figure out what he wanted… steak, chicken, and a side of… steak. But I made some minor adjustments after a few glasses of this:
And ended up with this:
Whipped sweet potatoes.
Roasted green beans.
These were incredible. They almost tasted like… french fries?!
His and hers filets.
Bet you can’t guess which one is mine.
A delicious birthday dinner.
Made even better by some of this:
Mr. How Sweet is trying to sneak a second bowl right now and doesn’t think I can see or hear him. It’s pretty entertaining.

Your dinner looks absolutely delicious. What a perfect birthday dinner. I have never even thought about roasting green beans. Did you do anything special to them?
Nope – just olive oil, salt and pepper!

I’ve been dreaming about whipped sweet potatoes. I saw Nigella make a whipped sweet potato and regular potato mash the other day and I can’t get it out of my head. This is a sign. I need to make these STAT.

HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR WHIPPED SWEET POTATOES? Just like mashed potatoes, but with sweet potatoes? I AM PROBABLY OVERREACTING RIGHT NOW BUT I AM AMAZED THAT I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS.
I’ll post the recipe this week!
Love the last bowl that the ice cream is in. So pretty. Earthenware. I love pottery of all kinds.
Anyway Mr Sweet clearly had a faboosh bday! He’s one lucky guy having you wait on him hand and foot and cook for him. You can hold it over his head for a long time :)

Mr. How Sweet is a very lucky man! I laughed when I saw the two beef filets- that’s what my and my husbands portions look like when I make steak! It must be a guy thing! :-)
Ooo what a great bday meal..I am sure he really appreciated it :-)
My birthday is in December. Please make your plane reservations now because you WILL come make me dinner.
I would love to!
LOL I love the his and hers steaks!!! Too funny.
What a lucky man you have-this looks delicious! Whipped sweet potatoes are my favorite for sure, by far the favorite potatoe of mine (unless of course were talking skinned red baby potatoes-yum!)
Looks great. I am a meat and potatoes kind girl… so this meal would be prefect for me! :)
Those sweet potatoes look like orange heaven, and I hate the color orange.
Your husband is a lucky man!
Yum, yum, yum, yum. It all looks SO good.
The cuts of meat made me laugh…generally what my boyfriend’s and my plate look like. Or, sometimes we START with equal sized pieces and I just let him eat half of mine.
The green beans sound wonderful. I am really loving green beans these days, especially from the farmer’s market.
