Let’s Talk Skin Care.
A few months ago, I asked my Facebook and Twitter friends what their favorite face moisturizer was for normal skin. I have very normal skin: not oily, but occasionally dry when the weather changes; rare breakouts, but more if I use a very oily product. There were two products that got rave reviews from many people, so I decided to give them a try.
The first up:
Love this product! It is definitely too heavy to wear during the day, so I put it on each night before bed. I believe Kristin was one of the people who suggested this, and I have to admit that I went out immediately and grabbed it because she has glowing, gorgeous skin. Not kidding. I’ve been using it for almost six months and it is the perfect balance: light enough that it doesn’t cause breakouts, but heavy enough that it clears up dry skin.
Next:
I just bought my second bottle of this last week. Again, another product I absolutely love! It is very similar to the Cetaphil, but it is definitely lighter and perfect for daytime. Plus, it has sunscreen.
The only other product I occasionally use on my face is this:
Sometimes I will use this before going out. I don’t use any foundation on my face and hate when something feels “caked” on, so this tinted moisturizer is perfect.
And while I’m on the topic of products, I picked this up last week at Ulta.
It is now my go-to moisturizer right out of the shower. It smells good enough to eat.
Have a favorite moisturizer? What is it?
Okay. I’m done talking about non-food things for the day. Off to cook!

I am totally a Kiehls girl. I LOVE their moisturizer (light but with a sunscreen) and their face-wash and their everything. I just love their products.
I like Kiehls products too, esp their moisturizers. I also really love Rhonda Allison products that I get from a boutique salon in Austin, TX. http://www.rhondaallisonproduct.com/main.sc
i am a firm believer in oil of olay. a few years back i read about coconut oil and checked out the website – http://www.tropicaltraditions.com. oh my. wasn’t totally thrilled with the coconut oil, but the skin care products are great – http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organic_moisturizing_creams.htm – i order the ‘baby silk’ formula. it is fantastic. i first started on the crow’s feet at the corners of my eyes and they slowly diminished. i use this on cuts, scratches, etc. and it seems to heal faster than anything on the market. i call it the ‘miracle cream’. the one drawback i have found is that it tends to melt in warmer weather so i just keep it in the fridge. there is my 2 cents on skin care.
I use bare minerals facial moisturizer with SPF 15 on my face, but I have to telly ou that my favorite skin moisturizer/hand cream BY FAR is Love and Toast! I live in very dry west Texas and just a little dab keeps me moisturized all day! Check it out at http://www.loveandtoast.com/ You’ll love it! :)
Jessica, I am a big fan of cetaphil too, but do you use that on your face? Seems like it would be too heavy for your face. Can you let me know if you do? Thanks!
I use retin-A and my skin can get horribly red and irritated…add in dry air and the high altitude and I am a mess. I love, love, love Aubrey Organics Rosa Mosqueta Rose Hip Moisturizing Cream. I use their Seaware Facial Cleansing Cream too. I buy them at whole foods.
Where do you buy Stila and Cetaphil, can I find it at a regular drugstore? I love this post! I’m a tinted lotion girl too and need a new one.
Hey! I’m a newcomer and just love your blog! I look forward to it every day! I had to weigh in on this post! I LOVE Purpose. You can get it anywhere, I think. I get it at Walmart. It’s light, water-based, and has SPF. Also, CeraVe was just recommended to us as well, but so far we’ve only used the hand cream and it is AWESOME!! :o)
Love the Yes To stuff. I use Yes to Blueberries (like it better than Carrots – I too have normal skin). This line has a day and overnight lotion, eye cream and an anti aging serum. Definitely makes my skin glow.
Hate foundations!!! But I have found a great replacement for those “bad-skin” days. Ulta carries the brand “bare minerals” or “bare escentials” (forget which one :( ). The powder is extremely light, you can’t even tell you are wearing anything!! Its a must-try!
I am madly in love with Shiseido Day Moisture Protection SPF 15. I too have normal skin and I don’t like moisturizers to be heavy. This one is light. In the morning, it absorbs quick so I can move right into putting make-up on. I don’t use foundation either… yuck!
While we’re on the topic of skin care – I use Shiseido’s Extra gentle cleansing foam and it is the BEST! :)
You could write an entire blog on skincare….the choices are seriously endless! Good luck finding the perfect combo for your skin!
I love my Mary Kay Enriched Moisturizer. I have rosacea and am allergic to anything with Tetracycline so I can’t take any of the new meds for it. The MK is perfect for day and night-time use….!
I love Yes To Carrot’s Moisturizors!! :D They are my favorite! :D

Love Clinique’s Moisture Surge (pink). It’s sooo light I don’t even know it is on my skin. It was described as a drink for my skin. Soaks in immediately. (Have to be careful not to put too much on actually.) Can be put on over makeup. My daughter was at college on a mountain and walked everywhere; the cold wind dried out her skin. This was suggested for her, but I decided to buy it for myself too and LOVE it. A little pricey, but worth it to me.
Omorovicza Balancing Moisturizer. It’s perfect for oily skin like mine. Aside form that I’m also a Cetaphil girl.
I just wanted to share my two favorite skincare items. I use a product that is awesome and organic called Good For You Girls and I definitely recommend! It’s very affordable too – yay! I also take my Vidazorb OPC age defense which is a healthy natural probiotic! I love it because there’s so many health benefits for me! Hope this helps in your quest!
Hi there, I also just wanted to share my own brand, Diana Stalder Skin Moisturizing Lotion. It doesn’t feel sticky for day use and it also has SPF :)
