Tuesday Things.
1. Last Tuesday I spent the day with Ashley, and she introduced me to Jeni’s ice cream. Ice cream has never been my go-to treat, but now? I’m totally screwed. This stuff was so incredible that the next day I drove 45 minutes out of my way during rush hour to pick some up. I can’t even take it.
2. Oh… and I bought the cookbook and have made three ice creams since. See? Screwed. I even made a cupcake inspired by my ice cream choice. More on that lata.
3. While I was visiting, Ashley made me a fabulous lunch of a baked sweet potato topped with roasted portobellos, the gooeyest swiss cheese and an egg. I’ve eaten this four times since. That is HUGE.
4. On my adventurous ice cream trek, I found some of the new Ben & Jerry’s frozen Greek yogurt. I brought it home so my husband could have an after-dinner treat because he really, really – and I mean REALLY – loves all things ice cream. While I cleaned up the kitchen he found the pint in the freezer then proceeded to EAT THE ENTIRE THING while sitting on the couch.
5. Because I’m predictable, a complete cliche and an open book, you can imagine that this is the most beautiful cake I’ve ever laid eyes on. I.love.sprinkles. I’m also FREAKING out over this black and white angel food cake. Takes it to the next level.
6. Something we did this weekend: On Saturday we went to peace, love and little donuts where I inhaled some of the most delicious donuts I’ve ever tasted. Since they are bite size… you get to eat more. My mind is quite rational.
7. After that, Mr. How Sweet ate a steak and cheese sub, half of a pepperoni roll and an entire order of general tso’s chicken all within 1.5 hours. I am not even joking.
8. Will this man’s metabolism ever slow down? That’s a serious question by the way.
9. Speaking of donuts, I made these peanut butter cup donuts on Friday for a little post-lobster mac dessert. Five of us ate 18 donuts by 11PM. A few days ago I wasn’t even INTO donuts. I can say with certainty that I’ve turned a corner.
10. Another thing we did this weekend: dyed eggs. This is one of my favorite things to do. So nostalgic. So bright! So vinegary. I love vinegar. It’s an odd quality to possess.
11. As horrified as I am to admit this, I am dying to go see American Reunion. Well, I’m not really horrified at all. Someone come with me?
12. About an hour ago my husband walked in the door with a bag stuffed to the brim from Anthropologie. Heeeee’s a keeper. Most of the time.
13. As you can tell, we ate enough this past weekend to feed a small country. And no I don’t have beer bbq chicken in the crockpot right now, why do you ask?

Why is it that guys can eat whatever they want and never gain an ounce? I keep waiting to see if it catches up with my fiance…
Gotta get that cookbook~
totally in to ice cream making these days!
LOVE that your man walked in with an Anthro bag!
Hugs from Bainbridge Jessica!

Yay! Tuesday Things…one of my absolute favorite blogs. :)
Just clicked on the Jeni’s ice cream website and they carry it at my whole food’s!! A trip after work today just became very necessary
I’m usually really not a comment-er, but when it comes to Jeni’s I make exceptions. In the event that you ever make it to a Jeni’s in person, I have two pieces of advice. #1, make sure to sample every. single. flavor. at the counter before you make a decision. The people that work there are so amazingly patient, and the flavors change seasonally. And even if you don’t think the goat cheese and sour cherry ice cream is going to be what you want, try it anyway. So good. And #2, when you choose what flavor you want, never get more than one scoop of the same flavor. Three scoops should be used to sample three different and amazing flavors. Cheers :)
peace, love and little donuts is SO good – and dangerous! When we stop by I try not to get pulled into their little nook but it happens. I can’t help it.
I like this kind of posts!
That donuts look soo delicious!
Wait. Does that donut have bacon on it? Like, almost completely covering it? And you didn’t feel that a bacon covered donut required any sort of comment, mention, in this post? Hello – where did you get that and how far away is that from DC?
I will happily admit that we saw American Reunion. It was a great piece of nostalgia complete with awesome nostalgic music.
I want to bathe in that ice cream… And eat that angel food cake… And those donuts… And I’m curious about that new cupcake of yours…
I too rationalize that the smaller the treat, means I can have more! Sounds logical enough to me! :)
Doesn’t it make you mad when the boys can down so many tasty fatty treats and not gain an ounce?! jealous!
Oh man I want to see American Reunion as well! I’m dying to see it, it looks hilarious! I can’t wait!
i’ve made a few of jeni’s ice creams and they’ll all been a huuuuuuuuuge hit! love her method and her flavors, now i just need to get to one of her shops and try the stuff for real!!
ps. i also love vinegar. i read a magazine article about adding essential oils to your vinegar if using it to clean and i was like WHY? vinegar smells so delightful!!!!!
OHHHMG, peace, love & little donuts is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Every single time I’m in The Strip I find an excuse to go there, even if I just ate a Primantis sandwich. Was your favorite the bacon? Did you try the maple one, that’s my fave, its amazing!
Jeni’s ice cream!!! MY FAVE! I just so happen to live about one mile down the road from a Jeni’s. It’s dangerous, to say the least. And it’s sold in all the grocery stores here. I can’t even let myself go down the aisle! I’m so, so addicted.
OMG – you should have your husbands teach my husband that trick! I love Anthropologie! Well, who the heck doesn’t…
Jeni’s Ice Cream is one of my favorites. I can’t get enough of their goat cheese and cognac fig!
Umm Jeni’s ice creams are incredible!! And her cookbook has totally inspired many desserts other than ice cream for me too! And it’s just so darn pretty :)
In regards to #8. No.
Nate had a bunch of rotisserie chicken, ramen noodles, doritos, and two captain diets before I made dinner. And he can’t do the cardio part of the Jamie Eason Live Fit trainer because he’ll lose too much weight.
Did I just get 3 shout outs in 1 post!? :) That lunch photo is making me hungry! I can’t believe you got Jeni’s cookbook. I must do the same!! Glad you enjoyed the doughnuts and your eggs look marvelous. xo

oh my goodness, Jeni’s is amazinggg! I moved to Columbus about a year ago and I seriously live about 3 blocks down from Jeni’s. I walk by it on my way to work everyday and it is soooo tempting. I need to buy her cookbook!
We saw American Reunion yesterday and I loved it! Also my husband scarfed cheesy puffs, popcorn, and ate mexican food within the course of 2 hours. AND wanted to stop for ice cream! I believe their metabolism never slows down… men are so lucky. :(
I’ve been thinking about that ice cream cookbook for a while – please report back!
Ahhh someone sent us Jeni’s at work! It was delicious. What flavor did you get? My favorite was the Brown Butter Almond Brittle. DELICIOUS.
I totally loved “American Reunion.” Jim’s dad stole the film!
Is that bacon on that donut!!!?? I tried to find something cool like that in NY, and couldn’t. All I found were boring donuts.
Two things: I LOVE vinegar!!!! I was dying to see American Reunion! Went with my two bff’s and loved it. Go soon!
This looks so delicious. I will definitely start following you, this is amazing.
