my mom is OBSESSED with dulce de leche! she has this container from argentina that I swear is on its last leg, yet she keeps it around and wont part with it
I was JUST at Tj’s and picked up a jar of this caramel yesterday. And thought of you when I bought it. the IRONY that you just posted this. I guess I am psychic when it comes to sugar :)
HA! I first learned of this delicious sauce from YOUR blog…. it is now on my “forbidden” list because I will eat spoonfuls of it until it looks just like the picture above.
I would dice up a green apple, sprinkle with cinnamon. Microwave for a minute to soften it up. Add it to that caramel jar, had a scoop of almond butter and top with granola. I usually do that in empty almond butter jars.. but a caramel jar I’m jealous right now!
I bought that jar of caramel today! I am so excited to try it! I literally came in the house (after sneaking it in the cart), dug it out of the bag, grabbed a spoon… and then my significant other caught me and instructed me that eating anything directly our of a jar was unsanitary, disgusting, and she would judge me fore the rest of my life for it….. Just don’t tell her about the almond butter jar… or the nutella jar… or the… nevermind.
Such a lovely item, no problem get more and enjoy. I know they say moderation but what the heck life is short. Buy three jars. Now I am hungry. Have a good weekend. Paulette
Keep the jar and make your own! When I make caramel, I heat the sugar and water with lime jucie (to prevent crystals) until I get that beautiful amber color. Then I add butter first, to get that brown butter nutty flavor (toffee), next the heavy cream. I have add bacon fat with the butter to the caramel to drizzle on my Bacon/Pretzel Baklava.
WOW …. lots of genius ideas here! Next trip to TJ, I will search high and low for this. To try. Hopefully, TJ’s caramel is made with butter, AND real cream. If not, goes back on the shelf. Cannot be called caramel without those mandatory ingredients.
P.S. Jason …. love your (please-please ….. skip bacon grease/ugh) idea. Much less expensive too!
Everyone …. when making caramel …. #1 tip …. be patient. Takes time. Honest-to-goodness, very worth it. Smile folks!

The Pioneer Woman has an amazing and easy recipe for caramel sauce. If you’ve got half and half, you’re in business! Otherwise, sad day.
Warm it up, open mouth and pour the last few drops in.

Never waste anything make oatmeal in the jar to soak up all the yummy caramel goodness.
I feel like this TOO!! I love caramel. I eat it on cereal, yogurt, ice cream (duh!), pancakes….etc. :)

I just picked up two jars of this stuff…dangerously good!!
Or, an opportunity to fill it with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
A problem is also living in a country where Trader Joe’s, and by extension this product, don’t exist.

That sounds amazing, Fallon! I would add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, too! Why not? ;-)
This sounds AMAZING!!!
It’s even better as a dip for pretzel rods. As a result, I have a jar that looks just like yours :)
I call that a bowl for oatmeal =)
YUM! This is my reminder to go to Trader Joe’s a.s.a.p. this weekend!
