August Favorites: Food + Fun.
I have a ridiculous amount of favorites this month – especially FOOD favorites! For the first time in six months I finally have an appetite, and while it’s not quite what it was before, at least now I want to eat most of the the things. Below is what I’m loving food wise – and more!
The passionfruit la croix. OMG. Found it at Target – I believe it’s a new flavor – and when I say it’s taken over as my favorite (previously pamplemousse!), it’s legit. I adore adore adore it. You know that carbonation has never been my thing but I’ve always drank a la croix here and there – now I want these every single day. This flavor is incredible. I hope it’s not limited edition.
I read Your Perfect Life back at the end of July, but since I haven’t got to read much this month it makes the the list. It was really cute! Easy read and definitely kept me interested, albeit being a little unrealistic. But awesome for those of us with “the grass is always greener” syndrome.
Two favorite apps this month: afterglow and proHDR. I’ve talked about both before but they are really the only ones I use. I use afterglow for everyday instagram photos to brighten things up, but I always love using proHDR for beachy and landscape photos because the colors can pop like crazy.
Ok. I realize that I mentioned this a month or so ago but I cannot get enough of this hinge denim shirt. Back when I bought it, I knew I’d love it so much that I actually bought TWO (true story, I bought two different sizes since I wasn’t sure how the baby bump would handle one) and it’s probably not an exaggeration to say that I have barely taken it off. I just wear it over everything. Since it hasn’t been super hot out (well, besides today) it’s been perfect and it’s also been awesome to travel with. It’s so soft and the perfect shade of light denim.
Noosa yogurt. More specifically, the tart cherry version – AND the pumpkin version! No, I’m not ready for fall yet but I grabbed the pumpkin one at Target and then mixed some nutella into it with bananas and went crazy. The cherry is one I’ve been loving for a weeks but this new combo… whoa. I just love how thick and creamy these are. A little goes a looooong way too.
After really wanting a pair of all black wedges this year, I went with these korkease ones. Man – they are comfortable. But maybe just because I’m a lunatic and find wedges really comfortable? I keep wondering when I won’t want to wear heels while pregnant – and I’m sure it’s coming soon. But I still am all over them. Obviously, it’s not like I’m wearing pumps 8-5 everyday, so wearing them when I want makes it easier. P.S. if you’re a flats person I am also really losing it over these d’orsay flats in black and white. OMG.
The metallic sharpies. When my dreams of signing my cookbook with the neon sharpies were dashed (1. the colors suck and 2. my book barely has any white space for them to work), I bought the metallics and went to town. Hello gorgeous. My favorite is the copper, which I call rose gold. Because it is rose gold. Copper is forever now rose gold.
This white chocolate coconut peanut butter. YES. You heard me right. This is what I was referring to last week when I mentioned putting it on s’mores. Do I really need to explain myself on this one? Incredibles.
I know I’ve been a little crazy over sunglasses this year… especially after years of refusing to buy them anywhere else other than Target. That started to change last year when I bought the mirrored raybans… and after I bought another pair this year. Yeah, Eddie still calls me Kanye when I wear them. But you know how raybans are kinda delicate? At least in my mind. I’ve been wearing these wildfox catfarers constantly for everyday wear – they are just easy and simple and can go up on my head without really stretching out like the raybans (at least not as quickly). The pair I have are black with mirrored shades (of course) and I got them at the end of last year (I think on hautelook??) but remembered them this year while packing stuff up. I can’t find the exact ones, but I love the style and feel.
The adorable beach radio in aqua. How fun is this? I got it at the beginning of the summer but have been using the HECK out of it while unpacking and moving and doing stuff like that. No, I didn’t take it to the beach. But it’s, like, my house radio? I just can’t stand the cuteness.
Let’s talk about this prenatal yoga that I’ve been doing to attempt and replace my favorite hot yoga. This is the closest I’ve come to loving it at home like I did in the studio (though really, nothing compares) and the one I’ve been sticking to the most. It’s definitely more of a vigorous flow which I love. I’ve still done turbofire a few times this month, though not as often as I was because with moving… and unpacking… and… and… I haven’t stopped running around. And of course, walking like fiends. I think one day we walked at least eight miles on vacation. I was definitely feeling that the next day when we walked.
I’m about to sound super boring, but lately we have been going crazy over a simple salad with goat cheese. While on vacation we ate this salad nearly every day – it was just local greens – I’m talking super fresh ones tossed with salt and pepper and a delicious balsamic. Then finished off with some soft and creamy goat cheese. I have been loving it every single day. I like to find the greenest greens I can without them being kale or collard-y… like local romaine and fresh spinach leaves. I’ve been making a vinaigrette with olive oil and my favorite golden sweet balsamic vinegar. We cannot get enough.
First off, I want to buy everything in athleta. I’m having a hell of time finding anything that I like when it comes to maternity clothes, but everything at athleta still fits and works and is great for running around and everyday life. These tanks are fabulous and so soft and stretchy and just perfect. Between these and my denim shirt above, I pretty much wear a version of it everyday. Â

Passionfruit La Croix?!? I am a seltzer water FIEND so I need to track this down. Sounds so delicious.
My favorite thing right now: I just got an email saying my copy of Seriously Delish has shipped!
You will probably end up drinking more carbonated water! I recently had my baby but when I was pregnant I simply could not stomach regular water for some reason. It had an off taste to me. I drank carbonated water for 9 months straight. Perrier Grapefruit is also amazing and got me through the water phase.
So many great things — I want them all! :)
Umm so the metallic sharpies at Target for $1 each and I bought the gold one and I cannot stop writing on EVERYTHING with it. Obsessed!! I need to find that rose gold one!
I’m obsessed with that golden balsamic. My go-to meal this summer has been grilled chicken topped peaches, basil and golden balsamic. Winning combo.
PS seriously freaking out because I got an email that Seriously Delish just shipped!
have you checked out asos.com for maternity clothes? my sister-in-law raved about them when she was pregnant.
Hey Jessica! Great post as usual. I know you’re not a flats kind of girl and less so a dressy flats lady however if you ever decide to go that route you definitely have to check out Pretty Ballerinas. You can totally dress them up or down and they make hot pink ones, and some are covered in Swarovskies (cause a little bling never hurt anybody), or some neon camouflage. Just sayin’!
Thanks for posting info on that white chocolate coconut peanut butter – I may have to order some now. :)
And I want passionfruit in EVERYTHING these days. Perhaps it’s time to give La Croix a try!
I love the raspberry noosa, i’m definitely going to have to find the pumpkin! and i think those flats are fabulous!
LACROIX IS LIFE. I’ve never seen that flavor before! Have you ever had coconut flavor? I rarely see it but it is the absolute best.
Love all you faves! The yoghurt sounds too good!
I LOVE the passionfruit la croix!! The mango is also really yummy. I guess they are sold at Target stores only. Which is fine because I can always use an excuse to go to Target :)
I love the Passionfruit La Croix but Coconut will always be my true love.
I was back and forth between the Passionfruit La Croix but went with the Peach-Pear flavor instead. Think its time to head over to Target!
