Tuesday Things.
1. I’ve been cleaning one of our spare bedrooms all day long, in which I’ve come across a handful of dead stinkbugs, like 18 pairs of shoes I forgot about, and over 1000 of these.
I’m not sure what I’m more disturbed by: the fact that I’m not allowed to dispose of any of the CDs, or that I married someone who burned J to the L-O! Notice the exclamation point.
2. I’m a little obsessed with Instagram. I know. I know you didn’t notice!! Anyway, what is this Hisptomatic? Do I want it? Do I need it? Did I even spell it correctly? Or did I pull a Mother Lovett, similar to when she told me “Omaha” was on TV all day long and she missed her soaps. It was Obama, dear… not Omaha. Educate me please because I don’t know anything.
3. Last night my husband promptly drowned these delicious potatoes in ketchup. Ketchup! I picked up his plate and threw it across the kitchen, screaming “I’m not making you no stinkin’ dinner if you’re just gonna ruin it with ketchup.”
Not really. But it definitely crossed my mind.
4. If I could be anything in the universe, I’d want to be this graham cracker. It has peanut butter and chocolate blankets on it!
5. “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!!!” Name that movie.
I find it to be quite a fitting quote. And it beats me saying every 5 minutes, “Bella, I just want to eat your face off.” Because for some reason, that is really freaking people out.
6. Berries were on sale yesterday. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries… all buy one, get one free. I never buy anything on sale because I’m a bit late on the uptake. But I decided to buy these berries. All of them. So I have 2 containers each of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries taking up waaaay too much space in my fridge. I’ll juice a few cups but… what else should I make with them? Hook me up with a link… or ten.
7. I’m a shoe hoarder. It’s horrific. I’d show you pictures but I’m much too terrified.

I’m never eating dinner with you because I douse anything and everything in ketchup. I put ketchup ON my ketchup.
I have that many berries in my fridge all summer! Besides overflowing your oatmeal with them you could make these:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82utG7Q3G_k
Despicable Me! That little munchkin was the only thing good about that movie…
But the puppy is fluffy and I want to love her :)
I just bought that movie and watched it!!! I love it SO MUCH!!!!
“I think he’s nice.”
“And scary.”
“Yeah. . . Like Santa!”
LOVE!!!!!
I love that you love instagram! SO COOL!!!! :) Those cd’s should be…. I dunno…. What are you going to do with them?
I love Despicable Me! Such a cute movie. :-)
And I could die with how cute and fluffy that puppy is.
I want to eat 50 of those graham crackers.
That CD collection is awesome!! I have a similar one collecting dust under my bed. What do we do with these?!
Your puppy is the best! Get Hipstamic. Instagram is better but it gives you some more dramatic options.
Despicable Me! I just watched that movie for the first time last week and that quote has got to be one of my Top 5 Favorite Movie Quotes Ever. Probably because I have a tendency to feel that way. I may or may not have an obsession with fuzzy things. nbd.
For a time I had “it’s so fluffy!” as my message alert tone, I love that phrase so much!
…actually I love fluffy animals in general, especially doggies. CANNOT get enough of fluffy doggies. And yours is such a *degenerates into talking babytalk gibberish*
Make the pretty pink cocktail I made last night!
Raspberry Mules http://www.savvyeat.com/equations-and-raspberry-mules/
I saw those treats of Jenny’s when she posted them too…wow. I know. I want.
And I love IG too! Posted about it yesterday. And today. Sucks for those w/out and iphone b/c IG alone is worth it for me!

If you have blueberries you must make these right now!!!
http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/07/blueberry-crumb-bars/
This is a tasty way to use raspberries or strawberries…

Don*t be ashamed of your shoe hoarding, you*re not alone!!! I too have quite the problem but I tend to hoard sneakers. Bright colored fun sneakers that a 28yr old probably shouldn*t even be wearing but I just can*t seem to get the shopping part of my brain to grow up!! :)
Make some scones!! They’re my favorite. Well, cake is my favorite, but scones are close. And Mr. How Sweet’s ketcup episode is like Meeker and ranch dressing…I despise.
Regarding #6 above – I can never resist when berries are on sale! So I buy them, freeze them, then make smoothies out of them. I actually just did a post on this very thing! Here’s the link: http://couponclippingcook.com/blog/kiwi-berry-smoothie
btw…I just love your blog!
Okay, I don’t even know what instagram really is … but I keep hearing things about it, and seeing cool looking pictures … off to google!
You can always freeze the berries. To freeze strawberries and then thaw them with a little bit of sugar and mash them a bit makes the worlds best sauce for ice cream.
I buy too many berries too, I try to freeze them and make fun stuff.

My boyfriend puts ketchup on his kraft mac n cheese….. it’s enough to make me gag : / …….yet he won’t even try my enchiladas! And you really need to show us your shoes ; )
Bella is adorable! If I think of something yummy to make with your berries I will check back in or e-mail you!
1. LUDA! respect it.
5. Despicable ME.
8. When we got our puppy, a goldendoodle, I went around saying, ”It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!!!” about every 5 minutes. My husband gave me ‘THE FACE’. I do agree, its better than trying to eat her.
Happy Wednesday!
I have a great recipe that I have been using this year for berries. It calls for strawberries, but I have used blueberries, too. Great crust! In fact, could eat it alone.
Strawberry Mascarpone Tart
You can bake the tart shell a day ahead of time, keep at room temperature (do not chill). Fill the shell with filling and strawberries just before serving.
INGREDIENTS
• Cornmeal Crust
• 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
• 3/4 cup cornmeal
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 3 large egg yolks
Whisk flour, cornmeal and salt in small bowl to blend. Using electric mixer, beat butter and sugar in large bowl to blend. Beat in egg yolks. Add dry ingredients and beat just until blended. Divide dough in half; flatten into disks. Wrap each dough disk in plastic and refrigerate 20 minutes. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Keep refrigerated. Let dough soften slightly at room temperature before using.)
Filling and Glaze
• 2 lbs strawberries, stemmed and quartered
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 Tbsp orange zest, divided
• 1 teaspoon lemon juice
• 12 ounces mascarpone cheese (can also use 8 ounces mascarpone mixed in with 4 ounces of ricotta or 4 ounces of whipped cream)
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/3 cup confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar)
• 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar (substitute a teaspoon of lemon juice if you don’t have balsamic)
METHOD
Prepare dough as directed. Put in prepared tart pan, pierce with fork and bake at 375 until golden.
.
2 Gently combine strawberries, half of the orange zest, and the granulated sugar in large bowl so that the strawberries are coated with sugar. Let sit to macerate for 30 minutes.
3 Mix together the mascarpone cheese, confectioner’s sugar, the remaining orange zest, lemon juice and the vanilla in a medium bowl until well combined. Refrigerate until needed.
4 After the strawberries have macerated for 30 minutes, place a sieve over a bowl and drain the liquid out of the strawberry mixture into the bowl. Take that strawberry liquid and put it in a small saucepan. Add a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar to the saucepan, and bring to a boil on medium high heat. Boil until the liquid has reduced to the consistency of syrup, remove from heat and let cool.
5 Assemble the tart. Spread the mascarpone mixture over the bottom of the tart shell. Arrange the strawberries on top of the mascarpone mixture. Use a pastry brush to brush on the balsamic glaze.
Serves 6 to 8.

as for those berries, i would make a delicius mixed berry fruit leather… yum!
I just made Erica from Cooking for Sevens Blueberry Cobbler this week – O.M.G. delish! Make some berry cobbler.
hipstamatic is fun.. you get to change lenses, film, flashes, all with the swipe of a finger so you can get tons of different effects. however.. personally of the camera apps that I love.. (beyond instagram & hipstamatic) are incredibooth, camera+, and timelapse is fun. also love some post processing apps and those are: photoforge2 photostudio, wordfoto (limited usage),& colorsplash. :)
I have to say- my neighbors must think im a raving lunatic because they hear me telling my new baby that i am going to bite his face off. I thought i was the only one!
You didn’t mention blackberries, but I recently made a blackberry and blueberry cobbler, which would be stellar with just blueberries too: http://apurplekitchen.blogspot.com/2011/07/black-and-blue-berry-cobbler.html
It was so good that in the 18 hours it sat in the fridge, I only got a measly spoonful out of the whole pan. And I live with just one other person.
When I was little I used to put ketchup on my mashed potatoes. I think my grandma (she calls it catsup) almost had a heart attack on the spot. All that work! FYI, they turn a nasty shade of pink and really aren’t good at all. I’m not sure why I ever like them that way…
here’s an idea for some of the berries: I made a strawberry soup, apparently it’s a big deal at disneyland and i think it would be fabulous with any of those berries. http://talentedterracegirls.blogspot.com/2011/07/strawberry-soup.html here’s the link with the recipe on it. i’m sure you could add your magiv touch and spruce it sooooo much =) there’s also a strawberry lemonade cupcake recipe on that same blog that is to die for!!!!
the movie is despicable me and it’s when she wins the unicorn =)
I just made this for peaches and blueberries – http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/peach_blueberry_cake/
I substituted cornstarch for the tapioca and used whole wheat flour, which made it a little dry. So I made a cream sauce.
If there were strawberries, this is delicious! – http://smittenkitchen.com/2011/05/strawberry-summer-cake/
Those potatoes look yummy. Perfect for a weekend in July.
I just made those chocolate peanut butter sandwiches last night! They’re delicious! But quite honestly, it’s hard to mess up when you have chocolate and peanut butter in the same recipe.
Honey, I wish I had the berry selection you do, but here’s on of my favorite raspberry recipes. http://picky-palate.com/2008/10/11/happy-1-year-blogger-versary-to-me/
It’s quite the crowd pleaser (and it doesn’t hurt that there’s lots of chocolate in there too.)
I absolutely love your style of writing. I also constantly tell my golden retriever, Shadow, that he is so cute I want to eat (or “nom”) his face. Keep up with the wonderful posts and delicious recipes! They make me laugh every morning.
Also, here’s a recipe for blueberry streusel cake that I adapted from the Pioneer Woman Cooks. It got rave reviews and about 1/3 of it was eaten the night I had made it.

(These ones are made with Strawberries but I like ’em better with Raspberries! )
I’ll show you my shoe collection if you show me yours…:-) how many pairs?!
I love Despicable Me almost as much as I love that puppy. I want one.
HAHAHA Love the Despicable me quote ;)
Oh my gosh those graham crackers look amazing!!!
My honey and I always watch that part about 10 times at least! You totally just made me smile!
I really need to purge my CD collection. Pretty sure there’s a KC & JoJo one floating around amongst the myriad embarrassing choices I made back in the day.
On another note, here’s an idea for your strawbs: http://www.healthyfoodforliving.com/?p=23114. Totally amazing!
You don’t need recipes – just eat those berries. They are delicious, and they’ll be gone before you know it!
Hipstomatic is similar to instagram, but you have to choose the flash and film settings Before you take the picture. It is like the new school version of old school photography… only square. I recommend it!
Cobbler!!! Mmmmmm
This recipe is really great. I used a smitten kitchen recipe but used boysenberries instead of cherries – it would work great with your raspberries.
http://foodiebia.blogspot.com/2011/06/brown-butter-berry-bars.html
You should make berry infused vodka! I’m trying strawberry with whipped cream vodka tonight :)

PW has some great cobbler recipes!
