Well. That is untrue. And untrue statement. Since when don’t I have words? I always have words, as annoying or rambly or inappropriately not connected to the recipe as they are. But really today, barely any ways.
BECAUSE THESE ARE RIDICULOUS.
They are entirely too simply, albeit costing an arm and a leg if you can find some lobster and even adding another arm and a leg if you want to do two tails per sandwich… can you say super high maintenance?
A few weeks ago I asked Eddie if he would eat BLTs for dinner… and he responded with NO. Um… no? Hello. Who are you and why are you weird? He claimed they “didn’t have enough meat.” Okay. Whatevs.
I skipped the BLTs that night but couldn’t get them out of my head. It’s been ages since I had one, but sometimes they just taste so freaking good you know?
I was, however, highly obsessed with the idea of lobster BLTs. So. One day I made these lobster BLTs and then I snapped a picture, sending it to Eddie with “are you sure you still don’t want a BLT?”
Yeah. He was home in like 15 minutes. Eating said BLT.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to throw together a BLT and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I sorta feel like an idiot posting a “recipe” for one, but the lobster (obviously takes it over the top) and the mayo… well, I could eat that with a spoon. I’m shoving my embarrassment to the side so I can tell you about this insanity smashed between two slices of of bread.
I haven’t always been a huge mayo fan. I actually didn’t eat it for years, claiming I didn’t like it – EXCEPT when it came to BLTs. I find that a mayo-y spread on a BLT is a must, and this slightly sweet and super smoky version is my new favorite.
I even ate BLTs back in the day when I didn’t eat so much L and T. Granted, there was much more B than L and T, but it would still classify as a BLT. Obviously, I still prefer my B ratio to be slightly higher than the L and T. Always. And forever.
Now this is what I call an ideal Monday.
Lobster BLTs with Sweet and Smoky Mayo
- 4 or just 2 lobster tails
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tomato, sliced (and seasoned with salt and pepper)
- a few leaves of butter lettuce
- 8 sliced of cooked bacon
- 4 slices of bread, toasted
sweet and smoky mayo
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Pat the lobster tails dry with a paper towel. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil and butter. Once the butter is melted, add the garlic clove and then add the lobster, tossing to coat. Cook the lobster, flipping occasionally, until it is just opaque and bright red, about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Immedaitely assemble the the BLTs. Spread the mayo on both insides of the toast. Add the lettuce, the tomato, the bacon and the lobster tails. Serve and devour.
sweet and smoky mayo
- Whisk all ingredients together until smooth. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for a few days.

What have you done?! I may need to trade my next shoe purchase for these sandwiches, but girl, I LOVE lobster and BLTS so this is surely worth the splurge. And I love that Eddie adamantly said no to BLTs at first but couldn’t resist. i, too, used to “hate” mayo except on BLTs.
I always feel weird posting “un recipes” But sometimes you just need to. Like this lobster BLT- UM WHOA. You always blow my mind, but today you blew it to pieces! These look FANTASTIC. Pinned!
You nailed the bacon here. Struck a home run. Crispy, not chewy. Perfectly crips. Best. Bacon. Ever. Congrats!!!
And the lobster, so you discovered the missing link to BLT’s!! I would have never thought of this. Wow!
lobster = love.
I can’t even form words right now. This is too good!!!!

I need to find somewhere that sells lobster and make this. My mum would love it!
We really would love these. Just wish the price of lobster was a tad bit better. These still look delicious. :)
I need this, like..ASAP! My husband feels the same way about BLTs, unless I put like half a pound of bacon on his it is a go no!
I have no words… Ok, maybe one: YUM!
These are glorious.
shut the front door. oh, my word these look so good!! bacon makes anything good, but lobster makes it even better.
I grew up with these at a place in NYC called “The Lobster Club”. It was closed for many years but looks like someone is giving it another shot because they’re reopening it.
My dad used to call it the “kosher delight” (because bacon, shellfish etc.)
Seriously need to make these!!! LOVE the sound of the smoky and sweet mayo. I’m not a mayo hater, but flavoured mayo is always better than plain.
You are speaking my language here…oh dear me!! Looks and sounds divine!
Fun last shot with the overflowing beer! Love love.
Yes, that looks like heaven.

I pretty much have no words either. Just feed me the Lobstahh BLT goodness.
This is totally a recipe and a simple one that will please my hungry belly. Love lobster, love BLT’s and I love how happy I will be when I eat it.
How have I forgotten how good BLTs are? Now I’m DYING for one! Even just the classic version will do.
I love BLTs (esp with avocado!) and now I’m just going to have to get my hands on some lobster. yes. yes. yes.
Those sandwiches are gorgeous!!! I would love to whip something like these up to impress just about anyone! pinned And the sweet & smoky mayo, totally all over that, too!
I have no words either, yet I’m leaving a comment anyways!! Um…yum :)
Lobster in a BLT? Such a wonderful idea! Keep them coming, girl :)
Ridiculous. In a fantastic way.
Completely smitten! I’m in the middle of a juice cleanse and had to pry myself away from lobster roll sliders yesterday. This post is too much, I’m so excited!
I want that.
Happy Valley Chow
Also, Eddie’s comment is hilarious. I once asked my boyfriend if there was anything specific he wanted me to pick up at the grocery store, and he slowly and thoughtfully responded with bacon, eggs, and whiskey. He still doesn’t understand why I think it’s so funny!
Girl. I can’t afford lobster, but when I can, I know what I’m making.
Favorite sandwich ever!!
Um, okay. So, I just started following you (because I normally live under a rock) and THIS is the first post of yours I have ever read. I feel like I just found a bunch of money in the pocket of some freshly-washed jeans or something, this is such a gold mine of a recipe. Holy crap. Anyway, I’m off to drool at those lobster and bacon pictures some more, and maybe make my way around your site a bit. So, hi. And I love bacon and lobster.
Lobster BLT??! I want this NOW!
These look and sound out of this world and you cooked the bacon exactly how I like it – crispy to the point that wear you touch it, it breaks!
Sparkles and Shoes
New Emojis coming out and STILL no taco emoji :/ http://emojipedia.org/new-emoji/
Oh dear God. I want this immediately. If you’re ever near half moon bay, stop by Sam’s Chowder House and try a lobster roll. Trust me. I’m obsessed with lobster. Lobster bisque at Ruth’s Chris. Mmmm
oh my gosh food porn!!! that looks so delightful!
If I could just get some lobster…
Holy yum! I may have to like mayo too for this one :)
This is ridiculous and I love it!! The mayo also looks so so tasty! Love it Jessica!

Wow…That sandwich is beautiful, wish I could reach thru my computer screen and just grab it! I ove the bacon foto…you cooked it the way I do, very crispy w/some extra dark bits…yum!!! I love your recipes and look forward to ach day when I receive the latest. Thanks!!!
I meant ‘I *love* the bacon foto’ and ‘look forward to *each* day’…gotta trim my nails, lol!
I really enjoy that the serving size on some of your recipes is “x appropriately, y obnoxiously.” I enjoy obnoxious servings so if it’s listed as part of the serving size, I don’t feel bad about it.
ummm, this is beyond yum. I’d have to make it an LLT as i haven’t eaten meat in 2 months! Will you still be my friend?
Oh my God. I don’t even like bacon and I want to eat these immediately.
