Pineapple Sangria.
What to do when you have too much pineapple?
Add booze.
Naturally.
!!!!!!
I have a thing for sangria. A santhingy? A thingria?
Oooh I’ll stop. But.
I’ve made blood orange sangria and pomegranate vanilla sangria and grapefruit sangria and apple cider sangria and strawberry satsuma champagne sangria and waaaaay too much sangria.
Do I need to get a life? Maybe.
After this, I promise I’ll give the pineapple a rest for a (few?) week(s) or so. Maybe. Sort of. Kinda.
Ugh. I’m just really into it right now. It’s like my brain goes into recipe mode and thinks “pineapple pineapple pineapple” while I slam my head against a wall. I want to eat it in EVERYthing.
[Sidebar: Let’s talk about how I’m still struggling (majorly) with photography in our new home. We’ve lived here since August, but with my book tour happening weeks later, then Max coming into the world, the holidays and a massive change in my schedule, I just can’t get it together. I can’t figure it out. I have no grooooove.
I barely had any space in our old house, but had incredible light and a great spot for placing backgrounds. Now, I have a lot more space but terrible light and nowhere special for backgrounds. HALP ME.
I’m constantly trying out new things which I guess is cool, but I’m just not FEELING IT yet. Any of it. You get me?
I photographed these on a day when we still had loads of snow – like maybe six inches still on the ground even though it hadn’t snowed in days. I’d be cool never seeing snow again right now but for pics? It gives some awesome bright light.
Okay I’m done.]
I added a few extras into my pineapple sangria —> strawberries! Super fresh and ripe. Cut ’em, slice ’em, leave ’em whole. It’s up to you. Also, fresh mint. Not enough fresh mint to make it a toothpaste sangria, but enough to give it a little fresh, crisp flavor. Limes, because they are pretty and I’m all #omgcitrus at the moment.
A whole pineapple would be inside of that jar too.
Along with a bottle of wine.
And some brandy.
And lots of feelings.
It’s a good day.
Pineapple Sangria
Ingredients
- 1 pineapple, chopped and sliced (I like a mixture of both)
- 1 pint strawberries, chopped or left whole
- 2 limes, sliced
- 1 standard (750mL) bottle of dry white wine, like Chardonnay
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1 cup club soda
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients together in a large pitcher, jar or bowl and stir, stir, stir. Refrigerate for an hour or so (or longer!) before serving. Taste and if it’s too sweet for you, add a bit more soda or dry wine. If you let this sit overnight, it will turn a pretty shade of pink!

always looking for new ways to stuff booze into things. Great recipe on the first day of spring!
There is no such thing as too much pineapple. And your pictures are as amazing as always even if you haven’t found your groove – you have a knack for food (and booze) photography!
You never have to apologize for 1. Adding wine to ANYTHING. Especially on a Friday.
and 2. Pineappling ALL THE THINGS. It’s my favorite fruit, I LUHVE SANGRIA and I need this. NOW. Pinned!
This makes me wanna grab my sunhat and have a relaxing day next to the pool. So pretty though, will I be able to stop looking at it and actually drink it? Uhm, yes! :)
You’re clearly a mind reader, because omg SANGRIA is my fave!!! And then add pineapple? Wow! My friday just got a little brighter from looking at all these pretty pictures, and dreaming about sunshine and sangria!
Dude, your photos are still smashing!!!! I’m buying two whole pineapples today to make this and that guac from yesterday!!! Gimme all the pineapple!!!!
I love the strawberry + pineapple combo! This looks SO refreshing for spring!
How can this be made as a mocktail?
I know that I know nothin’ about nothin’, but I think your pictures look great! I haven’t been in a groove like ever, ha, but I can totally understand the frustrations of not being able to find your groove in a new space. Also, white wine sangria is my absolute favi. Can’t wait to sit out on my porch and have one too many! :)
Yes! This is perfect! I’m hosting a Tiki-themed party tomorrow and someone just requested that I add sangria to the menu – I can’t imagine a better version! (We will also be enjoying the French onion dip you posted a few days ago.) And I agree that there can NEVER be too much pineapple-izing!
I like your moves! This sangria speaks to me on so many levels. Also – I’m LOVING these photos! So don’t be too hard on yourself ;-) And I’m sure you’ll find your groove soon.
This might make a really nice addition to my mom’s birthday next weekend… any specific type of brandy you recommend? I literally never buy it.
Oh my gosh…where are you, summer?! I am so ready to sit out on my deck sipping yummy drinks like this every evening. Loving all of the pineapple recipes!
This. Sangria. Is. Amazing. I adore sangria. Usually I go for the red variety, but with the strawberries and the pineapple I think I might be a convert! Brilliant.
I need your brain. I would just eat the pineapple and then wouldn’t have this delicious drink for the weekend…so not cool. NEED. THIS.
Booze me up Scottie and wet my appetite! And the glowy pineapple, Love it!
Praise hands emoji!!!
This is going to make for a great evening this weekend, I must try. Thanks for sharing!

This sangria is so perfect for the first day of spring! And your photos are always fantastic, idk what you’re talking about. :)
Let’s put this down as TMI right off the bat, but my mama drank gallons and gallons of pineapple juice when she was breast feeding me. To this day, the scent of pineapple causes a haze of warmth to rush over me. Maybe I’ve told yo this before.
anyway, super jealous that you can drink booze again, but I’m not far behind you! :)
Oh, and PS your photos are stunning. Hush your mouth ;)
Floating fruit in my cocktails always reminds me of vacation. And when is there too much pineapple? Love this!
I love your photos so complaints here! Maybe one day instead of a “Crushing” post you could do a post on food photography tips? I’ve been teaching myself and feel like I still struggle with background placement. That’d be a really helpful post!
Ahhh my inner grammar police had to fix my typo in my first sentence, I meant to say no complaints here!

I really struggle with light in my photos. I do so much of my cooking and photography in the evenings because weekends get so hectic and we are always traveling, but it means that I get no natural light! Maybe I will start waking up earlier to catch the morning light! Good luck with your new place!

Making a double batch for my housewarming party tomorrow :) AND a double batch of the pineapple goat cheese bacon guac. #party
“Toothpaste sangria” is the funniest thing I’ve read today.
Keep the Sangria recipes coming, i will never object. Summer is coming, and you can’t have too many refreshing drink options. I also totally hear you on the perfect light. We have been in our house for 18 months and this past weekend was the first time i took decent photos in my house! Still working on it!
I love pineapple. And strawberries, and sangria! I kind of want this all for myself :) Pinned!
I adore your photography and especially love these particular photos! the sangria looks beautiful!
Whenever in doubt, add booze. Even to pineapple. Especially to pineapple. I do like the light in the pictures–like you said, very bright. Lovely.
YES. Pineapple it all. Sangria it all. This is amazing!
Oh man, this looks amazing! I wish I had a lot of pineapples here!
Wow! So colourful, fresh and vibrant. Looks like summer in a glass! Thanks for sharing

Pineapples 4-ever! I think I ate my weight in pineapple when we were in Maui and then spent a king’s ransom to send some home because I wasn’t going to be able to LIVE without the most amazing juicy sweet pineapples I’d ever eaten!
I’ve already had one pineapple recipe fail this week…although it tasted much better two days later. Yeah…I’ll just write THAT in the directions ;)
So, this sangria looks yummy and refreshing with no possibility of failure in sight! I love a sangria that doesn’t scream we must have enchiladas with it…(not that I’d say no to that either…)
I love sangria, but have never made it. Definitely need to change that ASAP! This pineapple sangria looks fantastic. Pinned!
such a great idea – looks so delish <3

Made this yesterday for a girls’ day out on the boat and it was a huge hit! Do yourself a favor and double up on the fruit
These photos are beautiful! Also, I love that you don’t use any refined sugar in this recipe. Can’t wait to make this, it’s the perfect spring recipe!
