Tuesday Things.
1. I have embarrassingly been using way too may freaking smiley faces in my texts and comment responses. Like not even an emoji. Like an actual “:)” – have I reverted to my 22 year old self again? The struggle. To smiley or not to smiley. For years I’ve been extremely anti-smiley unless, of course, it’s an emoji. Now I’m confused.
2. Only have to say it once. FRUITY PEBBLE MERINGUES. Dead.
3. I fear that my email is beyond repair. I used to be great about keeping to around 150 things in my inbox and noooow… I’m at 4500+. How do you manage this? Do you just mass delete and start over? It’s driving me mad.
4. Almost exactly one month ago my Tuesday Things post came complete with a photo of iced coffee. Why is all coffee so photogenic? Like even before I enjoyed coffee, I adored pictures of it. So basic, I know. (but, um, that coffee has VANILLA BEANS!)
5. So we have a bird’s nest with 5 eggs in the wreath of our front door. I’ve never particularly cared for birds but right now I am going INSANE that no one can touch this nest or even COME IN OUR FRONT DOOR because I am so, so, so afraid of the mama bird losing her baby birds. Good Lord, the things that motherhood does to you.
6. We’ve been on the search for some awesome outdoor furniture and made the enormous mistake of, ohhhh you know, just checking out the options from Frontgate. Remember when I did this at Christmas? Three hours later I was convinced we needed a $9400 mosaic-topped patio table and a huge canopy cabana – for our, uh, PATIO – which we can comfortably sit on in Pennsylvania for like four months out of the year. Um no.
7. It has come to a point where I have outplayed my Taylor Swift CD. Like completely broke it from too much playing. It’s been in my car CD player since NOVEMBER. It hasn’t been touched or moved. Nope. It’s just been played 34 billion times.
8. Um, so I super duper LOVED the episode of Mad Men this week. Liked it a lot more than the first one. It still moves slowly at times for me but I feel like that’s sort of good, because every other show (oh hi Nashville) moves ridiculously fast. Like I can’t even deal with how fast Nashville moves. I really want Scarlett and Gunnar together though. Annnnd this is horrifying but the stupid Grey’s previews with “where’s derek?” are sucking me in! They do this EVERY year at the end of the season. Oh oh have you seen the previews for the new True Detective? Can’t even wait.
9. Completely losing it over these comments. Is this even real? Can’t imagine.
10. Ooooh it’s the Sephora VIB sale! Are you buying things? I need approximately negative infinity items from Sephora, buuuut something may accidentally on purpose fall into my online cart.

FIrst off – the Humans of NY thing – hysterical. I died. Secondly, I LOVE MAD MEN and my husband and I argue bc he thinks it’s too slow. But it’s just more time for me to stare at Don so I’m fine with it. My email has 4,000+ emails and sometimes I go through and group by what I know is junk to delete. But I don’t like to delete emails because then I always have a record of something. In case sh*t hits the fan I guess. #crazy
i am the same way. mail hoarder!
I’m VIB Rouge… I did not receive any emails about it being the Sephora VIB sale… where did you hear or when did you get the email?! I actually need stuff that are in my cart!!
aaah are you serious?!? i got a thing in the mail a few weeks ago and same with email – rouge started on sunday and they did a private in-store sale for rouge (i didn’t go) – but there are still a few days I think before it starts for everyone. code for rouge is ROUGELOVE – 15% off.
THANK YOU! You are the SWEETest ;) I love your beauty posts especially! I have my eye on luminizer and glow products, especially Dior and BECCA right now! I am so upset I never got any emails, i usually always do!
did you check your junk mail??
i also loved mad men this week. i think i actually missed megan and all her teeth.
Those comments are TOO MUCH!!!!
Oh I am SO good at email wrangling. Almost every job I’ve had, I’ve cleared up my supervisor or boss’ email account. I currently have 46 messages total, and 30 of those are about to be put into a different folder and deleted. I never have more than 50 emails at a time, I am a constant deleter haha. My trick when I’m helping a friend- I search “all mail” for “unsubscribe”. then all the mailing lists come up and its a lot easier to just delete all of those. And then from there, I can go create folders for specific people or institutions or topics, and then delete from there.
the search for unsubscribe is BRILLIANT. im going to have to remember that one!
Thanks, Mary!
MARY. you just saved my life. seriously the search all and unsubscribe is the best idea i’ve heard.
I had a bird make a nest in my St. Patrick’s door decoration! I left it up for a few weeks but there were no eggs.
Haha, the Taylor Swift thing made me laugh, because I’m glad I’m not the only one. I have seriously not changed my iPod from that album since I got it. Every single workout, that’s what I’m listening to. I need something new! Except that I don’t really want anything new yet, I’m still not sick of it!
i have been shopping for a new patio set for YEARS!! Finalyy founda set I could live with at Sears of all places. Its gorg. Glass table with a lazy susan. Thats what sold me! :)
a lazy susan built into the table?! tell me more!
I liked Mad Men this week. I read some recaps online about it, and I do agree about what most of them said that they spent too much time on ancillary characters when there are a lot of story lines to wrap up. I still think that Megan should have died in a Manson family attack, which was speculated by some as a story line for the mid season finale (even though the moon landing was a totally great episode).
That HONY post killed me! Loved all of the names!
i hadn’t heard that speculation – omg i think that would have been a great storyline!
For email overload, I forced myself to go through 100 emails a day deleting/archiving until I got down to 400. Now I’m too lazy to sort through the rest. I started at 1800 though, so hey, I made progress!
I could spend hours in Sephora!! I’d really like to try the Sugar lip balm (debating between original and nude). Also maybe splurging on the Hourglass ambient light highlighter. Soooo many options!!
i got the nude a few weeks ago with a 10% coupon i had, i really like it!
Yup, bought all kinds of things from Sephora this morning I didn’t need, but can’t wait to get! I’m excited for the Too Faced Contouring Kit and one of the new Melted Metals. Also, in the theme of get more lipstick when I already have a ton I don’t use, ordered one of the Bite nudes. I have no fear that my Rouge status will continue into 2016 at this rate!
I’m with you on not needing anything from Sephora, but it’s 15 percent off, and there are plenty of wants. Here’s to not doing too much damage! Ha :) I just love makeup! Josie Maran has a new highlighter that has to be in my life, and I love the Armani Eyes to Kill Shadows… so pigmented and pretty!
that highlighter is in my card. dying over it.
How do you deal with *150* emails in your inbox??? I go nuts if I start to approach 15!!!!
I literally screamed at my mailbox yesterday because my Sephora coupon finally arrived. I’ve been making a list of what I want to get with it. Please tell me more things I don’t need to add to it. Have you tried the Too Face Melted lipstick? I really want to get one. I need primer, eyeliner, eye cream, and the list goes on.
Don’t tell my dad I’m buying all this. I told him no “extra” spending was happening so that I could buy a new furnace/AC soon.
i absolutely LOVE the original too faced melted. they are awesome. i got one of the new metal melted and i like it too. it’s a little different tho, not as long wearing. i haven’t been using a dedicated eyecream (i’ve always loved kiehls avocado but it has parabens so i didn’t repurchase when i was pregnant), but i used a sample of the new philosophy renewed hope in a jar (as both face/eye cream) and it’s AWESOME. i love it so much.
Next week is a big Tuesday Things milestone!
it is!
Ummm email is terrible. Awful. Ugh. I sort by sender, then mass delete the ones from the senders I know I won’t read. The struggle is real.
Fruity Pebbles! It’s been too long since I’ve had them – I used to live on Fruity Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. And, yeah, I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift nonstop, too… it’s a problem.
Do you use the Gmail inboxes? It separates the promotional emails from the important ones really well. Or if you don’t have Gmail, Unroll Me is great!
i do! it helps but my inbox is still a mess. i did unroll me a year or two ago and i agree, it is great!
I had 9000 e-mails in my inbox and I couldn’t get myself to delete them. Then, I realized I never searched for anything so I mass deleted them all. I felt like a hoarder because I was having anxiety deleting them all.
hahahahah #9! I couldn’t stop laughing
#3 is my life and yup, I usually just hit “mark all as read” and move on.
The comments on Humans Of New York are usually just as good as the post itself!
Have a great week.

Can I humbly submit the idea of IKEA for patio furniture? Possibly mix in nicer pieces with it. My trouble was finding a big enough table. We host a lot and table of six (which most seem to be) just doesn’t cut it. We bought two basic tables at IKEA and are mixing in PB chairs + bench + IKEA chairs. Also, have you been to At Home in Robinson?
love this idea! i am going to look into it – and nope, i haven’t been! is it great?
For your email problems- try Unroll Me! You pick what emails you still want to get, but don’t necessarily need individually (ie shopping emails!) and they collect them and send you one big email a day. It’s so much better bc you still learn about the sales without getting EVERY email by itself!
Can’t have door wreaths in the spring for the same reason. Enjoy your blog!
Massive delete seems to be the only valuable solution… alas…
Lesson learned – take your xmas wreath down immediately after Xmas otherwise you’ll be using the back door till fall. We all learn the hard way! Been there too! You may want to put a planter in front of the door to warn folks of the nest plus (sorry – it’s life) but sometimes the chicks throw their siblings out of the nest & if there is not a soft place to land you may have a fatality on your front steps – gross but it happens. Here’s the important part – get rid of the wreath immediately after the chicks leave otherwsie you’ll have a second batch. Enjoy watching them hatch!
I got the Frontgate catalog yesterday and I want half of the things in it. Not in the budget at all. Also, I got way behind on my emails one time last year and mass deleted. I had anxiety for a week and then got over it.
I hear you on the smiley faces! I often opt for the smiley and winky face and then afterwards wonder what’s wrong with me. :) (And truly, that wasn’t even on purpose!)
