March Favorites: Beauty.
Happy best day of the month!
This month has been rather mundane on the beauty front – I’ve been using a bunch of the same old things! Favorites are favorites and I can’t lie about it. I’m hooked on the same stuff.
Daily routine right now is Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, Urban Decay Naked concealer, Benefit Gimme Brow and mascara of choice. Sometimes I will use a bit of Urban Decay Sin shadow and sometimes not. I usually throw on a little blush or bronzer if I have a second and I’m good to go! On the weekends I take a little more time but not a ton. I don’t even know me. Wahhhhh. This month, I’ve used a ton of dry shampoo (it’s been a rough month, ha) and am trying the brown shade again because it was all that was available at Target. I didn’t like it before, but so far, so good.
Onto this month!
Sunday Riley Good Genes. My obsession with all things SR continues, and as you can see I actually shattered this jar two weeks ago – but it’s okay! I can still get the product out so all is good. My face has been so weirdly textured lately and this is definitely helping. Sometimes I combine it with the Luna Oil but sometimes I’m also lazy and/or forget one or the other. This has been my go-to in morning and night. Next, I want to try the Flora oil!
Essie Go Ginza. Favoritest spring shade in all the land. Enough said.
Josie Maran Argan Body Scrub. I’m a scrub-a-holic and since I had Max, love having a “fancier” scrub in the shower for pampering. I finished up the Fresh cocoa scrub and while I loved it, it also looked like coffee grounds covered my shower for days. I didn’t have time after every shower to hose the entire thing down. So this was my next purchase and it’s the softest, smoothest scrub ever. I might even like it better than my real favorite, the tree hut sugar scrubs. And the scent is so nice!
Stila Huge Lash Mascara. For an entire year now I’ve been losing it over the Benefit Rollerlash and while that definitely hasn’t changed, this has become a surprising favorite over the month. It was an impulse purchase after my friend Kristen told me how much she loved it and me, the product junkie, had to get it. It’s one of those mascaras that I didn’t like immedaitely but once it dried out a bit, I started LOVING IT. I love it so much right now! I’m not sure if it will replace the Rollerlash for me because I like the Rollerlash from start to finish (no drying out) – but I might have one of these on hand occasionally. It makes my lashes look so long!
Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. It is possibly the most “springy” smelling scent I have – even with the cardamom – and I’ve been using it nonstop since I’m in such a warm weather mood. I want the hand soap too, because why not flush $45 down the drain? WAH.
Kate Somerville Exfolikate. I rarely use products this like since my skin is so dry, but since my skin has been so lack luster this month, I’ve added it in once a week. Super LOVE this. It’s gentle and I leave it on for 30 seconds or so like recommended. Combined with the Good Genes above, my skin is feeling so much better. I might splurge and get the larger size too – this smaller one was in the Sephora aisle of doom.
Formula X Cuticle Erase. I know I talk about this ALLTHETIME but I figured it was worth another mention because at the beginning of the month, I shared this with my cousin when we were away for a weekend wedding. And she was crazy over it. She agreed that truly, with one use, it transforms your nails and cuticles. It’s a savior.
Clinique Wow Pop. These lipsticks are always stashed in my diaper bag so a lot of times I don’t have them right on me. But man, I used this one all month and I forgot how comfortable and moisturizing this formula is on the lips. And I sometimes need a little break from all the matte lips. And! I almost feel like this is foolproof and I barely need a mirror?
Dior Lip Glow in Lilac. I’ve been a Dior Lip Glow fan for years but they just released a lilac shade (!!!!) and my cool toned, purple-loving freak flipped out. This shade is a lot more flattering on me and right now, I’m all about things that I can stash away and throw on in a hot second. Plus, it’s moisturizing too. And it has SPF!
That’s a wrap! This month was super boring to me so I’m looking forward to April, woohoo. I really want to try a Sunday Riley daily SPF, but it vanished from the internet before I could get it. I also want a ton of Bite Beauty amuse bouche lipsticks (I bought pickled ginger and am really liking it so far) and the Urban Decay Complexion Perfecter. What are you loving at the moment? Tell me tell me, I need some retail therapy!
{as usual, none of this is sponsored and all of these products were purchased by me. i am not affiliated with any of the companies above, nor do i accept free products. just love to talk about what i like, makeup junkie to makeup junkie. there are a few amazon affiliate links above. thank you for being here!}

Have you ever tried Benefit They’re Real? I was tempted to try Roller Lash because you’ve recommended it for so long, but picked up They’re Real and I LOVE it. They also sell a primer to go with it that makes it look like I’m wearing fake lashes.Â
I’ll have to look into the Stila mascara you mentioned. I’m a bit of a mascara hoarder and I’m not ashamed! :-)
i have!! so i hated it at first and then tried it in combination with rollerlash and really liked it! i don’t have one currently, but usually grab one every so often.Â
Brazilian BlowOut Acai deep conditioning mask is great for deep treatments and Redken frizz dismiss is a great new smoothing control cream- both are really good! Â Looking for a lipstick that the color lasts for at least an hour- any suggestions??Â
Also curious to know if the Tom Ford Noir fragrance is something you consider for the fall/winter-not for spring?? Â I need a new fragrance and wasn’t sure if you could recommend a few for spring/summer??
I love Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Products- the foam bath products really last for bubbles and never leave a film on the tub- essential oils are a part of this line and black chamomile line is intoxicating. Â I recommend for the entire family- can be used on a bath sponge in the shower.
Thanks- I love the Burt’s Bees facial cleanser and the Hourglass ambient lighting powder. Â I look forward to your monthly updates and reviews.
i have lots of matte lipsticks that are lasting a few hours (urban decay matte, bite beauty matte stick, tartiest lip paint) but they are all slightly drying and matte. if you want a more satin finish, i would try the urban decay revolution (not the mattes), the clinique above or the bite beauty amuse bouche!!Â
the tom ford is definitely warm and most people would consider it wintery, but i tend to just wear what i want at the time and not switch out my perfumes by the season. it’s probably one that i’ll wear more in the evening (also it might get way too strong when it’s hot out and/if i’m sweating) – but i’ll definitely still wear it this summer. you should also smell nest midnight fleur – so good!
Random (but beauty-related) question: what kind of facial cleanser do you use?
Also, I’m interested to try Rollerball…I tried They’re Real! but it was a bear to wash off and made my eyelashes fall out. Â Looked beautiful though!
And by Rollerball I mean Rollerlash, clearly I should go to bed!
i use the burt’s bees deep hydration cream cleanser, and if i have on makeup (or, a lot of eye makeup), i use the MAC cleanse off oil first!Â
I am so excited that you got the lip glow and love it! The lilac is a pretty one! I have the peach and pink and love them both! Next you need to try the cheek and lip glow! It’s so perfect for any skin color – love it.
i have the cheek glow and love it!! it’s so natural and the perfect pink. i want to try the lip liner, i’m so intrigued by it.Â
I love Jo Malone. Â And I think the same thing about the hand soap. But I am also a sucker for nice hand soap. Â Right now I am so focused on fixing my dry skin. My hands are the worst. I am using the First Aid brand hand healer.
Exfolikate is the greatest! I discovered it works even better when you use her cleanser too. Nordstrom carried a value set recently with the cleanser and 4 oz exfolikate for the price of the exfolikate alone. It may be sold out but I think the Kate Somerville site has it. Worth sacrificing the points to save $40 or so, I think!
I tried the new Burts Bees lipsticks on a whim. I never buy drugstore lipstick because I have a thing for luxe packaging with that particular product (weird, I know). It is great! Lots of pigment, semi may finish, good shades, feels nice and smells yummy. The package is cool too. Try it!
ooooh i’ve been eyeing those burts bees lipsticks!! i am the same way with the luxe packaging. also, i’ve loved makeup for so long and spent so many years using drugstore lipstick that i feel like i’ve exhausted all the options! ha.Â
For skin that needs brightening, try the Glamglow brightening mask (orange pot) before bed, followed by the moisturizing mask (blue pot). I sleep with the moisture mask on (it’s not heavy, feels like a night cream). After 3 days your face with be noticeably brighter! Good luck!
love this idea! i have both of those so i will give them a try. thanks!
I love Exfolikate! I have super dry skin too and always have to force myself not to use it more than 1-2 times a week. It smells SO good.
LOVE that Josie Maran scrub! One of my faves. Have you tried the chocolate one from Fresh? That’s next on my list!
You have to try  the CC cream from it Cosmetics. It blows the Bare Minerals one out of the water! I was obsessed with Complexion Rescue until I found the Your Skin But Better CC Cream. It’s SOOOO good! Actually, the whole line is crazy good!Â
I love It Cosmetics CC cream. I did try Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue but the It Cosmetics CC Cream has a little more coverage. Also the It Cosmetics Superhero mascara is pretty great too. Â I am really loving all of their products!Â
for serious though, that Stila mascara has me like O.O
I got a sample size in my birchbox one month and kind of put it to the side because i was DIGGINGGGG my benefit too. I finally got around to trying it out (read: my benefit was all gone) and I.AM.HOOKED!!! I am not one to splurge on mascara but now that my beauty routine only consists of face wash, moisturizer, eye liner, mascara, lipstick and sometimes blush, i should splurge on mascara!
Just got Tarte’s ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara and LIKE it, but it’s heavy so moreso if I want a heavier lash.. love RollerLash too but I always find myself back to Lancome Definicils! At Sephora I got a sample of Benefit’s ‘Dew the Hoola’ liquid bronzer, and everyone keeps complimenting me on my amazing tan! I also got Dior Lip Glow in lilac, was super excited for it.. and forgot that I have it in my purse so I will get to wearing that!!!
I got an ExfoliKate sample in my last Sephora order and I really liked it and my nails are most def a very similar shade right now but in the OPI gels. Â I just switched from the Stila BB cream to the Bare Minerals complexion rescue and so far I’m a fan, I do feel like I need to put on some pretty serious moisturizer first or else it gets a little flaky by midday. Â I look forward to these posts from you so much! Â Thanks for sharing!
Nothing is better than having a collection of awesome, mesmerizing skin care products constantly staring at you, tempting you to use them every now and then.. :-P
I love the Urban Decay Lip Shades. I’m not a fan of Matte lipstick as I believe a little shine on that lips make you look so fresh. And also cheeky glow blush is superb for all skin types.
I have been loving a Bite lipstick in Mulberry. Â Not sure which one it is though. Â Also just got the UD nakes skin concealer and i really like it. Â i was put off at first by the name since i need a full coverage concealer but this one works for me so far ! Â no creasing under eyes yet either. Â Im blah on hair. Â my hair is just eh and dry even though im using “good” products on it. Â i might try aveda ? Â anyone got any comments on their hair care ? Â Ive got a bright robbins egg blue on my nails with some light glitter and really like it. Â i have total winter blahs (still) and looking down at the sparkly blue makes me happy ! Â i think i need to check out sunday riley. Â
I highly recommend Brilliant Hair Spray and Pure Abundance anything from Aveda. So great!
thank you !
I love Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia, I wear both cologne and lotion to make it last!
I have recently ventured out into the vegan/not tested on animals beauty.Â
It’s been quite the journey because not all of them are what they claim to be (i.e. ‘stays on all day’… reality = stays on 5 minutes).
But the one that I am loving right now is Honest Beauty’s Creme Blush.
WOW. Never thought I would dig the creme blush, but I do.
And it stays on all day, so there’s that. :)
P.S. Love your blogs. Can’t beat the commentary!!!
Thanks!
I just picked up the Kate Somerville Exfolikate. It really does a great job! The body scrub sounds lovely!Â
Aghhh. ABH Liquid Lipstick in Madison is a delight, all around–such a pretty pinky-magenta. I’m also in love with B&BW Hibscus Guava Fresca Shower Gel and Ultra Shea Body Cream, and I’m further enamored by the fact that Ulta now carries Buxom products.
Yay! So happy you tried Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate, a few months ago you mentioned it, debating if you should try it. Â I have been using it for some time (like 3 yrs) and I love it, cannot live without it! I prefer it over Glamglow’s. Only use it once a week, I put it on and get in the shower, the steam and humidity helps and let it work its magic while I shower. Then I remove with mia clarisonic. Skin looks glowing and healthy. I love her retinol night cream too, so good. Definitely, get the bigger version, so worth it! I have been using the Burt’s bee deep hydration cream cleanser and in love with it, thank you for the recommendation. Also, have been using UD Gwen’s lipstick in Firebird and benefit’s dandelion dew liquid blush. Want to get Buxom full-on lip cream in peach daiquiri and Stila’s Stay all day liquid lipstick in Firenze. All about the lips at this moment for me.Â
Dior released a LILAC lip glow??? Life-changing info. Thank you!!Â
I really want to try the SR face oil, and I haven’t heard anything but rave reviews, but I’m still coming to terms with the price tag. I’ve been mulling it over for a few months, and I’m still not there yet. Lol! Soon, I hope.Â
Yay you are loving Huge! I was worried I may have hyped it up too much. Okay so I cannot wait for you to get MJ Velvet Noir, it will blow Stila out of the water. Obsessed!! I have Formula X cuticle cream  & now JM sugar scrub in my cart. You are a costly friend to have, but I can’t quit you. LOLOLOL!!!!!
I have ExfoliKate & JM Mimosas & Cardamon too and love them! I felt like it was a disservice to myself if I didn’t walk around smelling like mimosas. I recently purchased a Mimosa scented body butter from BeautyCounter. It is amazing! Last night I caught my husband using it. He said it cleared up some dry skin issues he has been having. I told him it was too pricey for him and he should use my TJ’s body butter. His response was “I like nice things too!” HA! I got Go Ginza last year and I don’t think I wore it. I am going to give it a go. This year I seem to be all about lilac & violet polish. The other day at MAC I picked up a patentpolish in Fearless. It would totally be your color! It is a sheer bright pink, totally easy to throw in your diaper bag and use on the go without liner or anything.
Oops, I messed up my email address!
i love these posts! did you pick anything up during the Sephora VIB Sale?
