Tuesday Things.
1. On Sunday I ate what felt like a pound of sour patch kids. My tongue still hurts.
2. Super in love with this summer bliss juice. And no, it’s not wine.
3. Please tell me that you’ve watched Blake Shelton try sushi. I laughed so hard.
4. So. I made us amazing breakfast on Sunday morning and had saved my favorite bite for last. I went to do a few things and snap a pic while Max was eating in his high chair – all in the same room, mind you – came back to take one more bite and my breakfast was GONE. Eddie’s like “oh I threw it away, it looked like you were finished.” Um, this is coming from the person who let Max’s uneaten Saturday morning breakfast sit on the counter for 12 hours. Clearly I’m still not over it. THE PERFECT BITE.
5. Do you use packing cubes? Are they life changing? I’m considering it and wondering if it would be wonderful (and extra wonderful with a kid) or just no biggie. I’m very much of a throw-everything-in-a-mess packer (folded, of course) and I overpack times forty. Please help.
6. As a major lover of putting pen to paper, I love these benefits of writing by hand.
7. BLOODLINE is back! Okay so we are only about five episodes in but I was afraid it wouldn’t be as good… and I definitely think it IS! Maybe it goes downhill from here but I’m excited about it. And I’m glad that Mistresses is back because I loooove my non-reality trash TV. Aside from that the only thing on our TV is playoff hockey.
8. 50 outdoor dates that are awesome for summer. Love this!
9. I’m craving old-school fruit pizza like whoa. I think it’s an almost-June thing.
10. Favorite brand of rosé?! Go! I’m really liking Minuty right now.

Packing cubes have changed my life!!! We bought eBags in every shape and size, one color for me and one for my husband. LOOOOOOOOOOOVE THEM! We bought them because my husband is anal about how he packs, and I was tired of the fits after TSA would throw our stuff around. We have not had one issue since we bought them. It is SO nice to have all of our stuff organized. We also bought the toiletry kits too, and we just keep them packed with travel basics, so we can just grab them and go.Â
Packing cubes are a serious lifesaver. I started using them about a year ago and now I can’t travel without them. I’ve even use them when I’m just using a weekender bag. I got mine off of amazon and I’ve seen a few other good ones there too.

omg I totally understand that last bite. and I wouldn’t be over it either!
These! http://shop.eaglecreek.com/pack-it-specter/l/231
Regarding the perfect bite – my husband once made the near fatal error of biting off the chocolate dipped curly q off the top of my soft serve cone – THE BEST BITE EVER – before handing it to me in the car. Nearly had him go through the drive through again to get me another. He learned his lesson!Â
I’m glad I’m not the only adult who still loves Sour Patch Kids (and any other sour candy that makes my mouth sore from too much sourness). :-)
packing cubes are the best. Â i have three different brands. ebags are my least favorite. Â i have a set from jansport which are perfect for my suitcase sizes which are my favorite, and some of the eagle creek ones. Â Honestly, i never pack without them now. Â i saw the amazon has their own line of them now, which seem like a good price, but i haven’t tried them. Â i tell everyone i know to get a set. they will change your life.
Ahh, yes, BLOODLINE! I’m also around ep 5 and it HAS been great.Â
I’m totally an obsessive packer and based on everyone’s reviews I feel like I need to look into packing cubes.Â
hahah – #4!!!! That would have sent me over the edge! lol Totally sounds like something that would happen at my house!
Lol omg #4. I hate when people throw away my food or eat food that I was saving.Â

I just started season 2 of Bloodline last night! I got the chills just from hearing the opening theme song again!
Oh man I don’t think my husband would dare to touch my food haha! You have convinced me to look into packing cubes.. We have an 8 day trip coming up and then a cross country trip about 3 weeks after that. Amazon here I come!
YES to packing cubes! I won’t ever travel without them now. I have the eBags brand, but I bought a friend a set of the Amazon Basics ones and they looked good too. Things are easier to find, they stay folded, you can fit more in your suitcase (!), TSA doesn’t mess up your stuff, and it’s easy to shift to a drawer and back again wherever you’re staying.
So I constantly have to tell my husband, “Don’t throw away my last sip of coffee, or make sure you save that teeny tiny portion of dinner, because, snacks!” He just doesn’t get it. Also, Bloodline gives me anxiety, I feel like I committed a crime, and I’m going to get caught any second. Ha.
That Sour Patch kids burn always hurts but I can’t ever stop eating them in time, before it happens. The struggle is real!

ive used the packing things where you suck the air out with a vacuum. Â sorta meh for me. Â didnt feel like it saved that much space nor left my clothes in great shape. Â i got some packing cubes last year and used for big beach trip. Â again meh for me. Â i liked that it made my say this one is for shorts, that one is for shirts, and i did his/hers in 2 diff colors. Â the problem was the one i would use for shirts was to big, shorts to small, mens not full, women’s full, etc. Â so i spent time rearranging them a lot. Â i have most luck trying to curb overpacking by not putting things in the suitcase until i have made outfits then counting the outfits and realizing unless i did 3 costume changes per day there was no way i was gonna wear all those things. Â i then weed out based on shoes. Â if i have to take a pair of shoes for it and it alone, that outfit gets thrown out. Â now if only i could curtail my overpacking of beauty ! Â prob never gonna happen ! Â i do like the small cubes for things like chargers since before i just threw those in. Â but then i realized i could have used old makeup bags all along and felt like an idiot for buying them. Â another option….cheap lingerie washing bags. Â they are somewhat see through, hold a lot (clothes or toiletries) and are great for dirty clothes on the way home. Â just a thought !!!Â
Packing Cubes are a LIFE SAVER. I recently bought some from HSN and used them on a weekend trip to NY, and it made life SO much easier, both packing and unpacking! I bought the 6-piece Samantha Brown collection (which looks like it’s almost sold out), but she has a 3-piece that’s just as amazing, and they’re very sturdy – much easier than using bags or things that could shuffle around in your suitcase. http://www.hsn.com/products/samantha-brown-microfiber-packing-cube-3-piece-set/8010881
As someone who has traveled to all kinds of places around the US and the world – Romania, cross-country US, Poland, Austria as a kid, Egypt as a young adult, Houston, 5-city tour of Italy now with little children. . . I don’t get the packing gadgets. Â Nothing beats the good ole’ ziplock style bag. Â Nothing. Â Unless you like purchasing one more item to manage. Â Or, of course, if it makes you very happy. Â
Not sure I get the packing cubes. I agree with Tara though in packing in outfits. And shoes have to go with at least two outfits. I get the most space wise in my suitcase by folding clothes in as few layers as possible. You may be shocked at how much can fit that way.
In other thoughts, I have been stocking up on Rose. We don’t have great selection around here, so I just buy what I see that isn’t a ton of $. Now, I just have to wait a few more weeks for this baby to be born then I can enjoy my summer rose and newborn snuggles!
Yes, it’s always the last bite of something so good ,just as good as the first and you want it!Â
Gone….in the garbage….. oh honey, I was trying to help you with the clean up ,because you made dinner.
I can’t be mad at him.
My choice is Rose Champagne, very nice.
I bought packing cubes about a month ago and they are SERIOUSLY AMAZING! No digging through the suitcase to find socks or that one random shirt etc. it keeps things so organized!
Rosé… I have been drinking Whispering Angel since last year pretty consistently which is my favorite, but have you ever tried the White Girl Rosé? Super fun and really light.
Hahaha I totally get your last bite drama. I always save the best bite for last, and no one is getting it but me! And I’ve been there with the Sour Patch Kids. It sucks, I haven’t found a remedy, and I still do it every time you give me Sour Patch Kids.
Also, I just wanted to stop by and say how much I loved your master class for the Food Entrepreneur Summit. I find your passion and dedication crazy-inspiring. And also I’m in love with all your recipes and your food photography.Â
THROWING AWAY THE LAST BITE?!? Now that is just criminal. In my house, the men know not to touch the women’s food. We are quite possessive that way ;)
Blake Shelton’s sushi dinner with Jimmy Fallon…priceless!
I am not a fan of sushi so I totally understood where he was coming from.
Thanks for the summer bliss juice love! Also, as a hot tip: if you freeze the watermelon and blend it with rosé and lime, you’ve got an amaaaazing slushie situation ;)
