Good luck with the kitchen remodel! I’m in the middle of a bedroom remodel – honestly, the only stressful part was moving out (and moving all the stuff, haha). Now that the remodeling is underway, it’s exciting and it’s all up to my trusted contractors and their team. Enjoy :) April is also my birthday month, so this is a selfishly exciting month for me.
I love the picture. It reminds of D.C.’s cherry blossoms which are very sad this year due to the weather. We live in Northern Virginia which is just outside of D.C.
Anyway, I have a couple of tips for you to survive your kitchen redo some of which you probably know. Paper plates, of course. We kept our old microwave on a really long heavy duty extension cord so we could heat up things that we froze ahead of time. The refrigerator landed in the dining room. Kind of odd, but it worked so we could have cereal with milk or sandwiches. The toaster oven is a good thing to have too. If you have an out door grill of any kind, you can put pots or cast iron skillets on it. Even better, the camping stove. My best tip is … the electric skillet that my mom gave me. It’s amazing what you can cook in it: eggs, pancakes, one pot meals, etc. Mine was non-stick so clean up was a breeze.
thank you so much for these tips!! we are doing most of these (i felt horrific buying so many paper plates but everyone has said we will regret it if we try to use regular plates), but i didn’t think of hooking up the microwave!
Oh, I forgot to mention one thing. When we were packing up, we had a lot of food items that we didn’t need (12 boxes of pasta?) so we gave them to the food bank. A lot of food kitchens will also take open partially used items.
this is also the best idea! i’m going to do this today. thanks katie!!
Good luck with the remodel!! We remodeled ours last year and it took place over the course of like 8 months. It was super frustrating at times, but every time we had to wait to do something, I changed my mind design wise and it allowed for it to become exactly as I want it!! Also, I’m am totally crushing on that miso chicken noodle soup too :-) So yummy!
Thank you so much for sharing my flour post Jess!!! <3 I'm so excited for your kitchen reno. I feel like between your portable burner, slow cooker, and other appliances – it might not be completely horrible?! (I have no clue.) An instant pot might be helpful though, if you haven't gotten one yet! Just because it's so fast. I'm so shocked by my love for that thing.
Need to make that milky way tart! Good luck on the rest of the remodel!
I’m DYING to know what your kitchen is going to look like! Sources?

OMG- the no kitchen thing is so hard, when we were kids and my parents remodeled the kitchen my mom cooked on a 1970’s camping stove in the unfinished basement for 3 months for 4 kids- WORST EVER!! Yes to those paper plates and yes to take out food! Thank you so much for the sangria love and I can not get over that strawberry milkshake cake!
Love that article on different types of flour!
Omg, I can’t wait to see the final result, please share before and afters!! How exciting!! Good luck, I’m sure it’ll be fine and a fun adventure for Max! Great links as always!!
Hmm, lima bean avocado toast. My current love is pea basil avocado toast, but I’m going to try the lima beans soon!
