Tuesday Things.
1. Bourbon delight bars?! UM HELLO.
2. Speaking of which, I still haven’t had a cocktail yet since having Emilia. I KNOW. I was planning on it for Thanksgiving but have a mess of a sinus infection and didn’t think it’d be wise to mix booze and cold meds, obviously. Holding out for later this week and a chilled bottle of champagne in my fridge.
3. This past weekend’s sales were seriously insane and while I’ve never been a Black Friday shopper, we pretty much knocked out all of our shopping this weekend! I bit the bullet and got an Amazon Echo. Now tell me what to do with it?
4. Current favorite Christmas album at the moment? Dave Barnes for me. I can’t quit it.
5. I am so ridiculously excited about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement. Like I think I’m more excited than William and Kate?! I love them! Oh my gosh. I even stayed up in the middle of the night after nursing Emilia reading articles about them.
6. Attempting to decorate for Christmas with a two-year old is, in a word… impossible? He is super into helping right now which is amazing (he basically unloads the entire dishwasher aside from the knives?!) but also… impossible. My mom used to decorate our house at like 2 or 3 AM and now I understand why.
7. The United States of memes. Pretty funny, though I don’t necessarily agree with PA.
8. Tell me about your planner situation for 2018! I might be trying out a new one (or three.. because I can’t decide yet).
9. Pumpkin pie for breakfast for the fifth day in a row? This needs to stop but… maybe tomorrow.

Haha, I think pumpkin pie is the best breakfast ever and I’ll definitely have to check out Dave Barnes’ album. Thanks for another awesome list!
Re: no. 7, I loved them LOL, but yeahhhhh as far as NJ goes, kinda bogus for the great North…or you know, the part of Jersey that isn’t Philly. #TaylorHamTho
Lol decorating with a 6 year old was still impossible. I pulled out one tub and went back to get another one. In that time he had completely emptied the tub all over the floor. Then with the ornaments he kept finding reasons why these certain ones needed to be on the floor. He had complete logical reasons, but still!
Leslie Odom Jr.’s Christmas album is *so good* and relaxing.
I am totally into the Sspring of the British Royals…a new baby and then…a wedding. Can’t wait for all the planning info…and the fashion. The future Duchess of Sussex will be a stunning bride .
The Simplified Planner from Emily Ley. It is seriously the best and comes in so many pretty covers and a daily and weekly editions.
Where do I find?
http://www.Emilyley.com
You can order one from the website or there is also a list of retailers who stock them.
I love my Inkwell press weekly planner! I switched from the Day Designer last year and I am so so so happy! I have the classic layout and at first it was hard for me to not have 1 page per day like the Day Designer but I love the little extras this planner has. I love the three little boxes for each day….I change them up each month but for November it’s “Fruits&Veggies count”, “daily stretch”, “workout”. Then each month there are spots to track daily progress on 3 habits/goals! I love coloring in the boxes and seeing my progress. I highly recommend!
I’ve been really trying to figure out if I want a physical planner this year or if I want to stick with digital for all my stuff. There’s something I love about physically writing things down, but I got an overly complicated planner with stickers and inserts last year that kind of killed my desire to ever use it, oddly enough. Oh, and I always end up debating whether or not to put my work stuff on there in addition to everything else, since it kind of drags down the vibe.

i am so with you i have online calendar that is like combo work/regular life and then physical planner i tend to put mostly regular life stuff and habits/to dos in. i feel like there has got to be a better way. is there a website where people show you their planners/systems ?????????
i am also getting overwhlemed with the sticker thing.
This article from buzzfeed had two for PA – one for the state and one for Pittsburgh!

I definitely don’t agree with the Ohio meme… what is this nonsense?!
I’m from Ohio. I’ve never heard of “the pumpkin show” and the only Kroger i’ve ever been in was in Myrtle Beach. The scarlet and gray thing is good, but no cavs reference ? or lebron ? or the parks, etc ?
You said it best!!!
Simplified Planner by Emily Ley – Daily and Weekly versions are both amazing depending on what you need!
Pumpkin pie for breakfast seems completely reasonable. I mean pumpkin is healthy, right? and eggs…
The United States of Memes? ha ha ha.. yeah. Oregon. I want to deny, but after going to other states I realize this may have a kernel of truth to It for me- sales tax, having to pump my own gas and no recycling Every Single Place? what? LOL
good luck decorating. I remember that stage. Christmas decorating was of the simple minimalist variety for a couple of years. We are finally in the stage where my kid decorates and it’s not all like ..on the front of the tree in one spot.
planner – Plum Paper….enough said. My third year in a row. love love love. You can do whatever you want.

i just ordered the nourished planner! so excited to try it!
You have to try out the Karen Adams Designs 2018 Agenda!!
Uhm one of my thanksgiving traditions- leftover pecan pie for breakfast every morning until it’s gone! Haha! No shame in my game. Keep eating that pumpkin pie, girl!
Amazon dot tips for the kitchen- “Alexa, set a timer for 20min” for whatever is in the oven and you can have multiple timers going at once. “Alexa, add carrots to my shopping list” which you can then see on your phone app(or your husband can see on his if he’s checking the list while he’s out to see if u added anything recently). “Alexa, how many ounces in a gallon?” It can do all your cooking conversions! Best kitchen helper!
So it all shows on the App? I’m Sonu just set it up last night could use all the help I can get 😉
Yes- anything you verbally tell Alexa to add to your shopping list will show up in the app. You can also ask her to repeat your list back to you if you wanted to write it down at a later time.
“Alexa, play Dave Barnes Christmas album”
With respect to food delivery, if it is for a person who doesn’t have time to grocery shop or cook, I have enjoyed Freshly meals – healthy, gluten-free options that are already made! You can choose 4, 6, 9 or 12 meals a week. I tried both Blue Apron and Hello Fresh previously, and I inevitably had delivery issues with both, primarily with the packaging of the meat breaking all over the rest of the contents of the box.
Definitely agree with being more into the Harry/Meghan engagement than the William/Kate one! For me I think it’s because she’s a much more “nontraditional” bride for a British prince because she’s a half black, divorced, American actress. So much more interesting than a “commoner” (Kate) who was still from an extremely wealthy British family.
I’m freaking excited about Harry and Megan! There’s so much bad news, it’s a joy to see two people, so charming and in love and like with each other:)
I may have purchased 3 planners for next year…The Nourished planner, a planner from Plum Paper, and the Cultivate What Matters power sheets planners. Not quite sure what I will do with all the planners. I want to hear what you settle on!
I just down loaded the David Barnes album. I hate so much pumpkin pie, it’s my fav!
So for the Echo…..
Pandora is playing allllll the time! In the Pandora app, if you give certain songs a ‘thumbs up’ it will compile a Thumbprint Radio Station – mine is a mix of broadway, random 90s songs, dance songs, kids songs haha!
Right now, Christmas music is always on!
We have a 3 & 1 yr old – so we use it for a timer for time outs.
Our son can communicate clearly enough that he asks it to play certain songs – or to tell him a joke. (Which he never gets, but giggles as if he does!)
I was sooooo hesitant to get one – it felt invasive some how?!
But now we have a Echo Dot in our bedroom – it’s our alarm, white noise machine and date night music ;)
You can use it as cooking timer and set up the app in your phone and it tracks your grocery list… So in the kitchen, yell “Alexa, add eggs to the list” and BOOM it’s on your phone for when you go to the store.
Congrats again on Baby Emilia! And wishing you and the fam a wonderful Christmas season!
I was reading the United States of memes on twitter and I’m disappointed with New York. Sigh.
Omg! I got the Echo on Cyber Monday!!! I’m loving it – are you!?
For your planner: check out agendio.com! You get to design it yourself, with their wizard. They have a bunch of layout options, and you can choose your own labels and colors and fonts. You can even include your own list of birthdays and daily/weekly/monthly etc tasks (which it will remember for the next year). Plus, you can have it start whenever you want! I’ve never found a planner that really worked exactly like I wanted it to, so I’m really excited for mine! Even with color printing it ended up being less than an Emily Ley one (which I have had but did not love, especially for the price)
