A Week In The Life, Vol 20.
Almost halfway through the year, this is nuts!
Remember how I was in such a funk at the end of last weekend?!
Well, it sort of carried over into the first half of the week. I don’t know what it was (aside from, well, the universe right now!), but it was rough.
My work days ended in disaster! I couldn’t get it together or anything. It was so weird.
I was basically like here Eddie, eat these eggs and leftovers for dinner! Whomp whomp.
Thankfully by Wednesday, it started to dissipate. I swear that going to the greenhouse helped. I decided to get a few herbs and flowers to plant. It was later than I usually start, but considering we had snow last weekend, I didn’t really have a choice.
This makes me so happy!
I read Rachel’s book and it’s SO good for a time like right now. Loved it.
These babies!
She’s my style icon.
Max picks me flowers everywhere we go! Except now he is picking planted flowers…. oops.
We finally went to grandma’s house!
This color, omg.
So we will probably just play with the hose all summer since we can’t do much else?!
Eddie brought home pizza from Dianoias.
The weekend ended up being SO nice that we were outside for most of it.
The baby birds from last week hatched! I mean, Max said they are not the cutest, but… nature.
We got ice cream and ate it in the back of the car.
PB chocolate for life.
Before I planted the herbs, I cut this – it had already started coming up from last year.
Planted some pots for our back patio.
And got the herbs in! I did basil, thai basil, parsley, rosemary, lime thyme, lemon thyme, lavender, mint, chamomile, dill, sage and oregano. And kept the chives in of course.
Plus a few pots for the front too.
And we’re swinging into next week like… YAY.

I get such bad Sunday scaries on Sunday nights and your pics of Emilia and her darn little accessories get me through them!!! These posts are the best
I’m there with you as far as being in a funk off and on these days – ugh! How have you been managing working with having your kids home all the time since you’ve mentioned you usually have some childcare some days?
Thank you for all you do! Hope this week is a good one for you :)

Question. What is the size of the planter you used for your herbs? Do you know? Want to do similar.

We’ve been very lucky in that we don’t have to go out all that often. What is disturbing for me though is the articles where it’s said that this will be our new normal – masks, social distancing, etc. Truthfully, I make an effort to NOT read every single article on the virus and how we’re effected. We’re practicing all the rules but some people just don’t get it. We have several neighbors who must think they’re invincible: huge gatherings, up close and personal with friends, allowing their small children to be in contact with anyone who drops over, etc. Makes us crazy that so many don’t even care. In my head, I’m saying “then get sick and be miserable or maybe succumb to this virus, it’s your call”. And then “stay away from me”. Of course, I don’t say these things out loud – a plan, but not a good one! These posts are uplifting and while it’s not your job to make the rest of us feel better, they really are special. Thank you! Gardening makes you think down the road and future good things, huh?
We bought stuff for our garden this weekend, too!! We have a flower farm about an hour north of us, and the owner told us to come after 5pm if we wanted to be sure of social distancing. We lucked out and ended up being the ONLY customers there!! The owner was super nice and showed us everything we needed, then left us to wander and pick what we wanted. We recently built a stone wall in the backyard, and I got flowers to plant there. I’m aiming for an English garden: blue delphineum, black-eyed susans, two different colors of coneflowers, and lavender. We got some herbs, too, for another spot in the yard, and a few veggies for our veggie patch. Here’s hoping everything grows!! And, yes, going out to look at flowers and planting them REALLY lifted the spirits this weekend!

Oh, the herbs! I love them! I chucked a pack of expired sage seeds out in the front several years ago and some of them actually germinated. I now have four large sage bushes out there that are in full flower as we speak. Zero effort, huge payoff. And free sage to throw in my pot of whatever anytime I want. Have fun with your garden!
