A peek at everything I loved in April 2022!

FOOD

Good Culture cottage cheese. I can’t believe I’m writing this because I thought I hated cottage cheese. I’ve been enjoying this for a few months now, but just this week we started putting it on toast with honey and chili oil. It’s life changing. This brand is SO good. It’s not wet or even creamy. It’s like wonderful thick cheese curds that taste like… cheese. I am forever changed. I get mine at Target! And I like the whole milk classic.

Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream. Apparently we’re all about the dairy today. Kilwin’s chocolate peanut butter will always be the gold standard for me but WOW – this comes so close. You must try!

Honeymama’s Chocolate Cake Bars. I’m generally not into trying paleo or diet-specific treats, but I tried this chocolate cake cocoa truffle bar and it is such a lovely little treat!

HOME

OXO stainless steel salad spinner. This is the best salad spinner ever. Period. It won’t ever crack!

Aerogarden Bounty. Okay I’ve had this for nearly a month now and love it. It’s a pain in the ass – as in it’s big and I actually have it on my bar cart so it doesn’t take up counter space. And the light is very bright. But everything is growing and actually, the kids are obsessed with checking it out every day! I am so excited to have herbs I want every day!

Kindle charging dock. 80% of the time I use the kindle app on my phone but am trying so hard to use my real kindle so I can get off my phone. I bought this charging dock and love having it right at my bed!

BEAUTY

Skinceuticals UV Defense SPF 50. I’ve used this for a few years when I want a matte-ish tint to my sunscreen. I never use it under makeup or as makeup – I mostly just use it as sunscreen but when I care about having an even skintone. It’s amazing. It goes on so nicely – it is very liquidy – and does give some coverage!

Ilia Lip Wrap Balm. Oooh got this during the sephora sale and am loving it! So moisturizing.

Olaplex No 8 moisture hair mask. I have a mental block against olaplex and have never used the products or felt like I needed them. WELL. This mask has been life changing. I use it once a week and it makes my hair so smooth and silky, but doesn’t weigh it down.

FASHION

Stars Above tie dye pajamas. I adore the stars above line – it is SO soft. These are so cute! Love the colors and they are ridiculously comfortable.

Petal sleeve t shirt. I love this t shirt in black and white. It comes in a ton of colors – but the classics are so good! The sleeves make it so flattering and just super cute – like a little more special than a regular t shirt.

Beek Rhea beach slides. I love a nude slide for summer and whoa – these ones are so comfortable. They may replace my Tory Burch miller flip flops which I have worn for ages + repurchased multiple times!

MEDIA

The Dropout. I mostly loved this because Amanda Seyfried was SO incredible in the role of Elizabeth Holmes. I thought I’d be bored, because I’d listened to the podcasts before. But wow – this was so good.

The Wedding Veil. I technically finished this April 1st so it’s going in April faves! I loved this book so so much. You can read a little more about in my book reviews from last month.

KIDS

Garden Stepping Stones Paint Kit. The kids both got one of these for Easter and they were a huge hit. I also love the idea of keeping these forever! They have so much character.

Lumi Pets Night Light. Emilia is the best sleeper but sometimes gets afraid of the dark. We have many nightlight situations but this is so cute. She loves puppies, and it’s soft and squish-able. Plus she can control it with a remote!

iPlay sun hat.  This is the best sun hat of life. Emilia was still wearing one last summer. It is adjustable, it’s light, it can get wet – it truly is the best.

Slip on soft loafers. I got these for Max for Easter after Lacy recommended them. OMG! They are so soft and comfortable and cute. The soles are adorable. And they come in so many colors.

  1. Whole Foods also has good culture, and in individual servings with various flavors! We recently tried the sour cream from this brand and fell immediately in love with the tang.

  2. I am pregnant and although I’m 16 weeks, have food aversions to 99% of the food I normally eat (hello, haven’t touched a vegetable in 3 months). Cottage cheese with fresh fruit and berries is the one thing I actually enjoy eating these days and I have been on the hunt for a good cottage cheese brand! Really hoping I can find the Good Culture brand at my local Target or Whole Foods!!!

Also really want to watch The Dropout. I listened to the audio book Bad Blood when living in the Bay Area and it was so surreal knowing all the places they talked about! We just finished Inventing Anna (the last few episodes were so…weird?!) so have been on the lookout for a new show to start and I think that will be it!

  3. I’m so upset that I went grocery shopping yesterday and I didn’t know about the chocolate peanut butter ice cream. I think I must  have to go back to the store either today or over the weekend. Although I’m trying to drop 5 pounds so that could be very dangerous. Lol

  4. I’ve seen a few TikTok’s where people use immersion blenders to whip the cottage cheese and use as cheese sauce – haven’t tried but just an idea!
    Have a great weekend!!

  5. Good culture cottage cheese is amazing!!!

  6. So thrilled you loved The Wedding Veil.

  7. I am tempted to try Olaplex#t have tried other numbers and was not super impressed. However,  I recently have become obsessed with hair products containing rice water. After some research I came across : https://viori.com
The products are made with Longsheng rice water from the Red Yao region of China. The woman from this region have the most beautiful, healthy and long hair…gorgeous really. The recipe for the formuls has been passed down for centuries ans now Viori has developed a partnership with the people is this region to develop and sell both a shampoo(bar) and conditioner(bar). Some of the proceeds from the sales are returned to the region. All that said, after two uses of this product, I don’t think I will ever use anything else on my hair. I admitedly has a bit of an obsession with hair products and have tried countless shampoos and conditioners.  For the first time in a long time, my dryness is gone and my hair is shiney and so , so soft. Rice water product also help to prevent hair loss while additon strength.

  8. I have been eating good culture cottage cheese during the week for breakfast for like coming on 3 years now (started when pregnant) – it’s sooo good! The nonfat is also really good too abs still so creamy!

  9. For 3 weeks, I’ve thought of little else but putting cottage cheese on toast. I was equal parts “ew” and intrigued lol

I finally trusted you and OMG what a delicious snack!  (I misremembered and went with hot sauce instead of honey but it was still incredible!)  it’s now my daily bedtime snack and I’m telling everyone about it ☺️

  10. Thank you so much for telling us about Good Culture cottage cheese! I’ve never been a big fan of cottage cheese but you’re picture was so enticing I couldn’t get the idea out of my head. It’s so smooth. I mixed about 1/2 cup with about a tsp of the chili crunch and a sprinkle of garlic salt and pepper. OMG best low carb snack ever, I can’t get enough!

  11. Hi Jessica,
Where did you find the chili oil or did you make your own and if you did, how? I have looked everywhere and can’t find it.
