Tuesday Things.
1. Can you spot the bee on the sunflower?!
2. Oh my gosh. Chocolate chip cookie dough stuffed pound cake.
3. Tell me about indoor herbs. My herbs were so incredible this year (still are) and I’m not ready to let them go. But how do you handle them indoors? And is it worth it? Because I use a TON, so it may not even be worthwhile?
4. I got my first strawless lid from starbucks the other day and it really wasn’t that bad!
5. Speaking of, our starbucks drive thru has become INSANE since the pandemic hit – it’s not unusual to have to wait 35 minutes for a drink. The worst part is that I don’t even mind, because I have no where else to go… so… I’m the nutjob who will wait in the line.
6. How to be more present in the moment. Love.
7. TV things! All I can say is that I am so deep into Friday Night Lights. This might be the best binge I’ve decided on all year! Also, have you watched The Home Edit on Netflix yet?
8. With football back on, I feel very validated in making a big game day cheeseboard. But it would only be us eating it.
9. Also, I’m very tempted to put up the Christmas tree. Haha wish I was joking.
10. I am so tempted to get a lap desk. Do you have one?!

Yesssss to finally watching FNL! If you end up loving it, I recommend your next binge be All American on Netflix. It’s like Friday Night Lights meets The OC (yes yes, teen drama but so glorious). Also Taye Diggs!
what kind of lapdesk are you thinking about? There are so many differenty types!
My herbs are doing well like yours. My oregano, which comes back every year, can become a full time job just harvesting it, as I’m sure you’re aware. That gets dried in my dehydrator for the most part. However, some of it I chop and freeze in small jars to have available year round. It still has a fresher flavor than using dry, I think. I do the same with the other herbs as well because even though I have a great place to keep them in my basement (lighting above their location), I’ve NEVER had good luck growing them as fresh indoors. I don’t freeze the chopped herbs in any water or oil – just chopped and in the jar. After freezing, they don’t appear as fresh for a garnish, etc. but the flavor is very passable. Give it a try as you really don’t have much to lose because you’ll end up tossing the plant anyway, right?
I have 100% considered putting up the Christmas Tree too but just with lights and this felt ball garland we got at Trader Joe’s last year. We left up some white twinkles lights on our banister all year and it really helped during the winter (and now fall!) with the hygee feel of things.
I’ve had a lap desk since college and love it. I don’t use it all the time, but it’s great to have in case I need it.
I have a lap desk. I don’t like that I can’t change the height. My body is short and it doesn’t hit me at the right spot. When I use it I keep it flat. It isn’t perfect but it is better than not having one and it keeps my pups off my lap so I can work.
This lap desk was recommended on the Forever35 podcast and lost so listeners have liked it as well. I had just a basic one in college and I always liked having it so my lap wouldn’t get too hot.
I’ve always wanted to try an Aerogarden(?) or whatever that Seen on TV things is that has the artificial light but we don’t have enough counter space – if you want to be guinea pic I’d be in favor!
Oops, this is the lap desk! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FW2KT8F/?fbclid=IwAR3tEIAbcoCqRhv6W8SAwLIRstO20XG4PcR7t8AOWckKegswpK9JfAetGVg
Yep I bought two of these based on the Forever35 rec and they are great! Especially if you use a real mouse.
I have an AeroGarden (9 pod) that I use in the winter/spring before and after my outdoor garden is producing. It is wonderful! If you use the herbs regularly/prune I’ve had the plants last for a couple months before you have to replant. I also plant a few more basil pods since I use it the most.
I grow most of my herbs “indoors” year round (and my avocado tree because it is babied as I’ve killed too many). We have a sun porch and we remove most of the windows when it gets really hot so that it’s more like a screened in porch. It gets too hot for my ginger mint around June so that moves for real inside onto my kitchen island. In the winter, I keep my herbs and avocado tree in there and move my other fruit trees/bushes in too (I have a mango, orange, and lime tree and a lemon bush). The orange tree is the only thing that hasn’t grown anything yet. They don’t do as well in the winter, but regular mint, lemongrass, and basil do the best. I also keep a squirt bottle in there and water their leaves at least once a week.
My bf’s favorite thing about football is that I’m willing to make snacks for the games (mainly bc he isn’t allowed to talk to me during Pats’ games)! The whiskey cheddar from Wegmans is AMAZING and needs to be on your cheeseboard.
One of my neighbors has kept their Christmas tree up this entire year and they light it every night. It makes me really happy when we go on our walks. One of my friends kept hers up one year and just redecorated it for each holiday/season. It was a lot of fun, but she refuses to do it again bc it was so much work.
When I was working from home, I stole my bf’s lapdesk. My biggest complaint was that it wasn’t big enough for my mouse too. Apparently this one is big enough https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0149SD6T0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=just-good-shit-rm-20&linkId=049b1df01edcc0f6a40dd63943eb2562&language=en_US
I have a big Christmas tree that stays up year round. I’ve got it decorated for fall right now and it makes me super happy.
I just started watching FNL this weekend too for the first time – I’m not usually much of a tv-watcher, but oh man am I getting sucked in!! Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose. LOL.
I recommend you watch Ted Lasso next. It’s like feel-good sports movie hits Parks and Rec-style humor (like, it could be just too silly but the characters have depth in addition to being quirky). I assumed they had released a whole season and when I realized we were caught up and had to wait a week for the next episode I was way too devastated, haha! It’s been a perfect show for my husband and me to enjoy together.
I too could put up Christmas, they “hide” the shed key !!!! Have a good week..
That pound cake looks like it’s worth every. single. calorie.
I watched Friday Night Lights last year and loved it!!! I watched part of it again when my son binged it at the beginning of quarantine. Now I’m watching Nashville and I love it so much! Maybe it’s the fact that I’m watching it so quickly, but I haven’t been so into a show in a long time. I’m half way through the last season and I’m dreading the end. I think the real question is who do I love more…..Tammy Taylor or Rayna James?
