I start by separating puzzle pieces by subject/color if I can, but as the puzzle comes together more I switch to grouping them by shape (like, ones with all-innies together, ones with all-outies together, traditional “puzzle piece” shape together, etc). It really helps as I get into sections that are all one color or hard to distinguish by color!
I love your Tuesday Things Post. I need to start  The Summer I Turned Pretty. I just ordered You With A View. Recently, I’ve read some fairly heavier books and I need some thing a little later so this seems perfect. Also, I cannot stop buying books. But I figured it this way, there are a lot worse addictions I could have.
Thanks for all of the recommendations! Also my best puzzle strategy is to start with the borders or the most bold part of the puzzle before moving to the more monotone pieces.Â
My 6-year-old and I love to do puzzles.
Our two biggest game changers have been: (1) purchasing a puzzle mat with a cover, so we can put our puzzle away between uses, and (2) purchasing stacking puzzle piece trays, so we can sort out the colors/edge pieces, etc.
Once we made these purchases, our puzzle happiness increased exponentially.
