Trivia Friday #8.

Update your google readers!! http://feeds.feedburner.com/howsweeteats/smSp

I’ve talked about Mother Lovett alot. And I have so much more to say.

I’m not sure  if anything can beat the time we served her half a cake on her birthday. It doesn’t matter though. She wasn’t tall enough to see the non-existent half.

Soon I’ll tell that tale of grocery shopping with Mother Lovett. Because who wouldn’t love hearing about a 4’9,” 88 year old munchkin, who passed gas with every step she took, while screaming 3 aisles away from you ‘don’t forget the stool softener!‘?

But that’s neither here nor there.

I’ve only spoken a little bit about the other one. How classy she is. How sweet. How positive.

What could make her classier? More sweet?

How about drinking beer out of 32 ounce stein?

gma

That could make anyone positive.

And classy.

My dad took this picture at the Hofbrauhaus. Have you ever been? If not, then you probably don’t understand why this picture is blurry.

That’s ok.

I’m so excited because my friends Kelly and Dan are coming for dinner tonight. They have the cutest baby ever, and if you’ve been reading awhile, you’ll remember that we have a few things in common.

Besides behaving like a child.

Friday Trivia!

Guidelines

-3 questions are posted Friday morning.

-You have until midnight (EST) Friday to qualify –leave your answer in the comments section.

-The comments will not be made public until Saturday. I will get it, but it will not appear. So please do not comment 324 times like I have in situations like these. One comment per person.

-Everyone who answers correctly will be entered into a drawing for an awesome prize EVERY MONTH. This means if you participate in FOUR trivia Fridays in one month, you have FOUR chances to win. I sure am good at math.

-The prize will be different each time and announced on the 15th of the month. It may be small, it may be big. It may be tangible or not. It may be a lock of my hair. Who knows? Either way, it will be announced mid-month.

-The winner will be randomly chosen and announced on the last day of the month. If the last day falls on a Friday, winner will be chosen Saturday.

Questions:

1. What was the drink we know as a Bloody Mary originally called?

2. How much time did Jonah spend in the belly of the whale?

3. What actress scored a record 12 Oscar nominations, winning first for the year 1933 and last for 1981?

Have fun! :)

Sadly I do not know the answers to any of your questions today, but I do love a good Mother Lovett story! She must have been a pistol (as my Grandmother Lovett would say!)

LOL. I love the pic of her at the Hofbrauhaus. I love that place. I have a stein just like that!

    1. I’m going to assume you are going for “Red Snapper” here, but I read that actually Bloody Mary is the original name. Supposedly, people thought the name was too vulgar so they changed it to Red Snapper.

    2. 3 days

    3. Katherine Hepburn… I love her brownies :) You have seen them on my site, right?

YOU ARE HILARIOUS!! I can’t WAIT to hear the FULL story about your grandmother’s gas. We have something in common, perhaps she could use my Beano too :) And you served her a half cake?? I would scream if anyone did that to me, I’m obsessed with cake, it’s what I look forward to during birthdays and weddings. I actually have that same Stein on my shelf in my apartment, but have never been there (the internet is wonderful!)

    Have a great weekend!

    1) A Red Snapper. (Never thought I’d say that “Bloody Mary” is the classier option for a drink name.)

    2) He was human sushi for three days.

    3) The inimitable Katharine Hepburn! ON TOP OF WHICH, Cate Blanchett won an Oscar just for pretending to be her in 2004. Pretty sweet deal.

    Hey Jess,
I just got off the phone with “THE DEARS” and heard all about your Grandma’s bad shoulder. They also told me to check out your blog today. Great photo! Doesn’t look like grandma’s shoulder is preventing her from holding up heafty beer steins!
