The snow is coming.
I have an entire pan of gooey butter cake sitting in my kitchen.
[Let's be honest here. We all know I've eaten half the pan already.]
I’m all out of greens.
[Secretly this thrills me, since I don't have any to eat.]
I foresee a lot of this being done.
[And not nearly enough of this.]
And surely way too much of this.
[In fact, I think I'll get started on this a little early. Like... right now.]
What would be your perfect snowed-in day?

I’m Jessica and this is where I share my stuff. You will find a balance of healthy recipes, comfort food and indulgent desserts.
Perfect snowed-in day:
pancakes.
coffee.
cuddling on the couch with big blankets and movies or bad tv show marathons.

Can I come over? My perfect day would be baking and watching movies…all in my PJs!!!

Lucky! That looks amazing! The glass of wine I’m talking about! I can’t wait to have one tomorrow! :) Enjoy your snow!

Baking is exercise. Strength training and cardio. It’s true.

Oh man! Get ready and stay safe!
My perfect snowed in day would be baking. And marathoning the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice. YES.

You can sled ride over.

Seeing posts like this make me wish it would start dumping snow in San Diego. A few years ago we had a “fire week” where everyone got to stay home because of the smoke…but no snowed-in days yet!
Reply
My perfect snowed in day would be sitting in my comfy clothes with my husband and baby. We would be playing games, eating gooey chocolate chip cookies and sipping on hot chocolate
Reply
jammies, wine, chocolate, trashy movies.
oh and a big comfy worn in quilt!
happy snow day! cheers ;)

Ooooohhhhh…..yummmm…well you’ll hate me for this but here in SoCal today it’s74 degrees…..however it does get cold at night, so all these treats look like a perfect way to spend a cold night!

We’ve had plenty of snow, they just won’t give us the snow day!
I think you have the formula for a perfect snow day all planned out.
Mine would be very similar, with a big helping of Eat Live Run’s vanilla cupcakes. Perfection.

That truly is the best possible snowday!

perfect snow day involved stack of good books, plenty of brownies, and possibly a bowl of homemade chili at some point :) oh, and nice fuzzy slippers and stretchy yoga pants…
love,
cathy b.

on the couch with coffee, (your favorite drink) snacks, reading good books, by a fire, and movies and board games! My ideal cozy house is a cross b/w the cute cottage on The Holiday Movie that Kate Winslet lives in and the house on The Family Stone!!!

Mmmm…butter cake + white wine seems like an exxxxcellent combination for a snowy night. Love it.

on the couch with coffee, popcorn, netflix watch instantly, a good book, fresh bread (to make french bread pizza!) and all the ingredients to make my favorite cookies! oooh and my adorable kitty cat laying at my side (she ADORES snow days when momma gets to stay home!)

Sounds like a great day!
Mine would be where the kids are at a friend’s house or actually go to school instead of being snowed in with me, hehe…..with an endless supply of hot chocolate and homemade pizza that I didn’t have to make myself. Yum.
Reply
I had a snow day and have enjoyed grilled cheese with buffalo sauce and dark chocolate orange scones.
It’s been perfect.
Now I just need some vino with dinner. Perfect day!

Sounds great to me. Enjoy being snowed in. :)

I would bake, bake, bake and eat, eat, eat! =D

to get snowed in in california or nyc where there is still stuff to do even when it’s snowing. i’m done with all this snow crap. DUN

We are snowed in here too, but it is not a good day. Still dealing with sick children! Ugh. A PERFECT snowed in day, would be breakfast in bed (that I don’t have to cook or clean up after), coffee (lots of it; with fun flavored creamers), PJ’s, and eating treats that I baked the day before (because a perfect day would mean nothing to do but eat, drink coffee and watch movies).
Can’t wait to see what the chocolate batter is for!!!
Reply
Well I’ve never experienced a snow day before since I was born and raised in Las Vegas Nevada. But if I ever do get a snow day in the future I’d probably make hot chocolate with a shot of Peppermint schnapps ;)
Reply
wellll, everything you listed sounds pretty much amazing. baking, wine and/or beer, along with wearing fleece leggings and sweatshirts all day, Irish coffee, some snuggling in poofy blankets and possibly some movie-watching… sign me up! (by which I mean, send some of that snow to state central PA!!)
Reply
Perfect snow day … start out with a toasted bagel slathered in butter, paired with a hot chocolate mmm. Lots of yummies, snuggles and good movies. Maybe even a fire too.

I looove snow days. If we have one I stay in my pajamas, lounge on the couch and watch movies with my hubby. :)

Sitting with a good book and cup of tea!! And maybe a scone or two thrown in ;)

I’d be a happy camper with a good book, cookies, and coffee!

LOL! I love this post. Perfect snow day for me = staying in bed, snuggling with the BF, and watching movies. Cooking a delicious dinner and/or good pizza delivery to top it off :)

The snow needs to leaaaave! waaaah. haha Okay, enough complaining – but I would drink, bake, eat and be a vegetable on a snow day.

enjoy the vino!
it’s 78F and sunny here. just move :)

My perfect snow day would include sleeping in, baking, and reading by the fire:)

I’m in the middle of the city so I live in a 4 block radius of a multitude of friends and a wine store (this was not a coincidence) so it’s always a festival of well spent time off from work. BUT…I have to say, my most favorite feeling is spending the entire day at a friends house, playing in the snow, drinking lots of wine, and then coming back home to a pot of beef stew that I had the motivation to put on 3 hours before I left. This doesn’t happen too often (the food prep coming before the wine) but when it does it’s AMAZEBALLS.
Reply
My perfect sow days involves yoga, lots of blankets and tea, and some fabulous tv!!
Reply
Amen to that – I just discovered the spinach in my fridge is all wilty and gross. Someone’s having a dessert smoothies instead of a green smoothie for afternoon tea today… :D
Reply
Boooo no more greens.

Sounds like the perfect snow day to me! :)
Reply
happy cooking to you! :)
Reply
mmm… I can’t wait to see what you get done!
Reply
Wine, trashy TV and magazines, and a comfy blanket on the couch.
Reply
perfect snow day would be sleeping half the day eatting and then sleeping more. Infact I think I will just hibernate the rest of winter.

I’m one of the few that lives in eternal sunny-land and misses the four seasons! Vegas and like climates are for the retired. Snow shoveling is God’s way of changing up your workout routine. Enjoy the miracle of the white: the snow and the pinot grigio grape.
Reply
I agree with Lauren! I live in Ireland and haven’t seen proper seasons in a good few years (since leaving Canada, anyway!). We did manage to have a pretty respectable snowstorm here this winter and I enjoyed every minute of it with cognac and baked goods (…I needed the extra calories to stay warm).
Reply
Haha! No veggies, gooey butter cake, chocolate, and WINE sounds like the perfect snow day to me! I’m jealous, I might have to leave work early today…
Reply
I always bake when it snows! There’s nothing better than cuddling up with a warm plate of cookies, brownies, muffins, cupcakes when it’s -O degrees outside. ;-)
Reply
I’m having a snow day today too! I just made egg-white-oats for breakfast, plan on making lemon pudding cake later on and probably will eat a few leftover Reese’s Christmas trees too.
My electric blanket is on, covering my legs, I’m on the couch and have my laptop with me. Ahh…the comforts of a snow day! Plus some educational reality tv, LOL!
