Tuesday Things.
1. The NASCAR gods were not on my side this weekend… after teasing me with a cancelled race on Sunday and the promise of a race on Monday while my husband was at work so it could only be DVRed… it just had to be on last night. I was in NASCAR jail, where bedtime is at 8:46PM. Fine by me.
2. I’m pretty sure the new Martha Stewart line at Staples will be the death to all notebook/pencil/office supply loving freaks out there… especially me.
3. Apparently it’s national pancake day, but I thought that one day last week was national pancake day? I can’t get this stuff straight so why don’t all these people who make all these national days up just get together and straighten it out. I’M SO UNEASY.
4. You know that picture of the grilled sandwich I posted on Sunday? Yeeeeeeeeaaah that would be a grilled chocolate cheddar cheese.
5. Yes. I’m serious.
6. It’s the chocolate cheddar cheese from Trader Joe’s and after buying it a few weeks ago, the cashier told me that I MUST make a chocolate cheddar grilled cheese. So I went home and did just that. Immediately. I’ve never been good at following instructions but for some reason this time I did. Shocking.
7. You know how I have all sorts of weirdo obsessions for someone in their 20s, like James Taylor and Kenny Loggins and other stuff like that? I also have a weird obsession with Meryl Streep in that I want her to be my BEST FRIEND. I know it’s all It’s Complicated’s fault.
8. That vodka-laced marshmallow fluff milkshake I had this weekend? I’ve been dreaming of it ever since. This is not fair.
9. I really want to throw a big leap year party tomorrow buuuuuut I don’t have enough friends.
10. Who has tried the birthday cake oreos? I have resisted buying them because I have enough dessert in this house without needing a package full of oreos. But I desperately want to buy them just to make these.
11. My house is currently being overtaken by magazines. I have a serious problem. Save my soul.
12. Wait. I’m going to save myself and go buy the oreos right now. I can’t take it anymore.

I thought National Pancake Day already happened, too! I think pancake companies (???) are just trying to slip one by us, like, “Oh, what? No, *that* NPD was a total fluke. Today is the *real* NPD. Pinkie-Promise! I know you just spent tons of money making gourmet pancakes and going out to eat fancy bacon pancakes, but since today is the REAL DEAL, you totally have to do it all over again!” And they are totally getting away with it, too, because let’s face it, who is really going to turn down an excuse to eat pancakes?
HAHA. I think you’re totally on to something here.
my house is constantly overflowing with magazines..i can’t get enough and can’t bear to throw them out! what if i need to read about this stuff again in like 5 years???
Pancakes belong in constant weekly rotation. Agreed. And my magazine situation is ridiculous. This is why I need an iPad. :(
yayy first comment! Tuesday things are my fav post of yours! mm birthday cake oreos! love me anything with sprinkles.
i def was JK’ing on the 1st comment. epicFAIL.
I’ve been trying SO HARD to resist those oreos but I think it’s a losing battle that I’m fighting. Pretty much like the battle NOT to go buy chocolate cheese. CHOCOLATE CHEESE?!?! How can that be a real thing?
Also – I’m in for a leap year party…PA is not that far from CT. Just a hop, skip and a jump away. We can play Felicity DVD and eat 100 year celebrate oreos. It will be grand :)
That birthday cake oreo is insano! Don’t do it…!!! Don’t look into the light!!!
things number 4 through 6 literally may have just changed my life. flying out the door as soon as i press submit to locate this. things could get dangerous…
CHOCOLATE CHEDDAR CHEESE?!
I will be going to TJ’s tonight. Also, I share your confusion about pancake day. I for realsies though it was last week too. But, I also share your James Taylor/Meryl Streep obsession. And I’m in my 20s.
Also, I love you and everything you write.
The Oreos are amazing and smell like heaven. HEAVEN. Enjoy!!
I have seen those birthday cake oreos, I am intrigued by them! I should buy them next time!
Maybe we should have a party with those oreos and that vodka marshmallow fluff drink :)
I have a serious magazine problem, too, but I HAVEN’T BEEN READING ANY OF THEM. They’re collecting dust & taking up space all over my apartment!
Also: How WAS the grilled cheese? TELL ME MORE.
last weeks pancake day is more of an english tradition.? it’s always on fat tuesday.! but this weeks one is just one of those random ones, like national margarita day! i think :)
chocolate cheddar cheese sounds interesting? i don’t know how i feel about that, but it sure looks good!
I wasn’t a huge fan of the chocolate cheddar cheese straight from the block, so I made chocolate scones out of it. They were pretty tasty. Should have tried the grilled cheese though! Looks delish!
You will NOT regret the Birthday Cake Oreos! And hey, at least they come in a smaller package than regular Oreos?
I found the birthday cake oreos on vacation in Colorado and didn’t buy them. Now since I’ve been home in texas NO ONE is carrying them.
Can you please share that shake recipe? It’s really not fair…
I totally would but it’s from a restaurant! I have no idea what all is in it.
It’s probably better for my hips and abs not to know it anyways… :)
I’m actually eating a birthday cake Oreo right this very second and they’re seriously addicting! Not the best birthday cake flavored thing I’ve had but still seriously good.
You are a saint! If Keith liked NASCAR I might die.
I went to IHOP and celebrated :)
Was the grilled choocolate cheese sandwich tastarific? The birthday Oreos were way too sweet for me but my 3 yr old and the niece and nephews Hoovered them.
Very tastarific.
I am pretty sure I need to hear more about what that chocolate cheddar cheese tastes like. Oh, and thank you for telling me that Martha is now at Staples…. this is not good at all. And I, too, am trying with all my might to resist those birthday cake Oreos, but I think I may need them.
WOW chocolate grilled cheese? That should be amazing! I had the birthday oreos and you are rightk, save yourself go get some right now, and have them on the side of that vodka laced marshamallow fluff milkshake, dip them right in the milkshake, and call it a Tuesday evening!
How funny! I just posted a pic on Instgram of the Birthday Cake Oreo I was about to stuff in my mouth. I finally broke down and grabbed myself some. I was leery because the smell is off-putting and very artificial (which I know that is because they are very artifical), but I tasted them and YUM. So tasty! I will definitely bake with them soon.
I bought the Oreos…they taste just like regular ones in my opinion. Actually they might be regular ones with sprinkles. Hmmm, should have checked the package…just assumed they were “cake” ish.
And….chocolate cheddar grilled cheese? If you serve that tomorrow for Leap Day I’ll totally come hang out! Can I bring some extra magazines for ya?
OMG Aimee that’s exactly why I haven’t bought them – just figured they were oreos with sprinkles!
I HAD to watch the race last because my husband is Junior Johnson’s, one of the founding fathers of NASCAR, third cousin. So I was told it would be blasphemous not to watch it. Vvvvbrrrrroooooommmmmmmm kill me lol
Last night’s race went on F O R E V E R! For this East Coaster, I hit the ‘tired’ mark at 11pm, and the “I’m so tired, I’m nauseous” feeling at midnight. After all that wait, my driver’s tire blew with 12 laps to go and I was crushed. I decided to show Nascar who is boss and went to bed before Matt took the win. I should have just thrown up and gone back to watching, I love Matt. After Jamie. ;) No pancakes here today, but I am currently planning my Leap Year day celebration!
Forget Meryl Streep, I want to be best friends with Emma Stone!! She is too cute and too funny. And I would love to have her hair.
Ditto!
The birthday cake oreos are fabulous. I pretty much devoured an entire box of them thirty-three milleseconds after they hit the market.
That chocolate cheddar cheese is delicious! I never thought to make a sandwich though. Now I suppose I’ll have to try.
I ate a box of birthday cake oreos in one night (ok, my husband helped… but still!) They’re amazing… taste like cake batter!
make the brownies from bake at 350 for sure!! i made them this past weekend and then forced my husband to take them to work and give to all his friends because they were TOOOOO good to be laying around my house for me to consume!!!
My husband has tried the Birthday Cake Oreos. Took him just TWO days to finish the first bag before running out to buy another. I refuse to try them for fear of a similar reaction.
2. I just discovered it too and my god i want to buy it all.
3. what is up with the national pancake day? i’m starting not to believe all these national days either!
Be honest: do you go to bed at precisely 8:46 because it’s closer to 9:00 than to 8:30? I’m so on that wavelength.
It’s Complicated made me want to have Meryl Streep as my bestie too. The croissants themselves were what did me in! She knows the way to my heart.
The birthday cake Oreos are crazy good. BUY THEM
Give in! Give in to the horrible temptation that is oreos. I am helpless around regular oreos, but my boyfriend doesn’t like them… and he literally inhaled half of the box of the birthday cake flavoured oreos that we bought. Like, I’ve never seen him eat an oreo that I wasn’t shoving into his mouth (for my own good, of course). They’re so ADDICTIVE. And the creme in the middle actually comes off when you lick it, instead of just smearing around your tongue and making me feel like a dog with peanutbutter stuck to the roof of its mouth.
I ALSO want to be Meryl Streep’s best friend. She’s just so… awesome!
Also, last Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday (AKA Pancake Tuesday, Pancake Day, Mardi Gras Tuesday, Fat Tuesday) which is the last hurrah before giving things up for Lent (which starts on Ash Wednesday, last Wednesday).
Today is IHOP’s National Pancake Day (Started in 2006… how corporate).
I love Meryl Streep. I would love to be her best friend. I was SO happy when she one. I would be totally heartbroken and probably cry if the Oscar curse fell upon her… but it won’t so I don’t have to worry about that.
Birthday Cake Oreos: Good. Not much different than regular Oreos minus the sprinkles and the insanely good smell of them.
I think National Pancake Day was last week and today is IHOP National Pancake Day because IHOP’s love for pancakes could not be shared with other and needed it’s own day to celebrate pancakes.
I love that you love James Taylor and Kenny Loggins. ;)
PS…you NEED those Oreos!
You’re so funny and we could totally be BFFs and have a leap year party if I lived near you. Only one thing though – NASCAR is my thing. I was pumped up to watch it in the prime time last night LOL
Now, about those Oreos..how did I miss those?!?
I blogged a picture of the Bday cake oreos yesterday…and just got done taking pics of what I made with them…like 10 mins ago! And yes, Bridget’s brownies look…incredible!
I swear the East Coast TJ’s where you are get totally different products from mine…chocolate cheddar cheese?! I am almost positive we dont have that and if we do, I will go back for it. Today. That would be my 2nd trip in one day :)
I just threw out an entire garbage can worth of magazines this weekend…spring cleaning fever over here.
Also, I would seriously consider flying out for your Leap Year Party. Sinseriously.
The REAL National Pancake Day is on Mardi Gras Day AKA LAST TUESDAY! Not sure why people are saying it’s today!
I think you should make oreo balls with birthday cake oreos. :)
I join you in that magazine thing. Complete addiction, although I think I have them under some sort of organized control.
And honestly…Grilled Chocolate Cheddar Cheese? Your (crazy fun) site will be the death of me yet! :)

boom.
the answer to all your problems.
I think I need to get better at following directions. Especially directions that involve chocolate and sandwiches.
So we don’t technically have to do anything tomorrow since it’s just an extra day, right? Good. I knew you’d agree.
WHAT?! They make birthday cake Oreo’s?!
Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday is the REAL pancake day. Today is just IHOP’s pancake day. At least I think so. And here is a list of the “Food Holidays”: http://www.thenibble.com/fun/more/facts/food-holidays.asp
