December Favorites: Food + Fun.
Gold studded anything. It’s no secret that I love gold studs and spikes, and I lusted for the above clutch all month. I’m also in love with gold zippers, gold studs on shoes, gold EVERYTHING. Give me all the (fake) gold!
Merlot soaked parm. I’ve talked about this cheese all year, but it’s my absolute favorite snack. IT’S SO GOOD. A little goes a long way. I buy this one at DeLallo.
My Whitney English planner. I’ve had it all month long but it only became active today as it started on the 30th. Man. I’ve been so excited to use it because it has a day on an entire page. For all of you obsessive list makers, this is for you. It’s already packed.
Big ass earrings. I’ve been all about huge earrings this holiday season (the kind that kill your ears) and even though I only wear them for a few hours, I adore them. it’s my new thing. I found some on sale at jcrew last month (similar to these, also where I got the ones in this post) and totally love ’em.
The talenti peppermint bark gelato. Just kill me. I found it in my grocery store and that was the end of me.
Crafts! You know I got all weird this month and did crafts. I’m still obsessing over this martha glitter. So obnoxious and perfect.
Homemade chex mix. I shared on facebook, but I used the recipe on the back (I literally just typed “bacon” instead of back, huh) of the box but browned the butter, added some cheez it’s, bourbon smoked paprika and a little bit of parmesan. GAH.
Speaking of, this bourbon smoked paprika. I found it at my whole foods and while I’ve used smoked paprika for years, this one is by far my favorite.
My frye boots. I know I mentioned them last month but I’ve LIVED in them this month too. Like to the point where it’s too much and I really need to differentiate. But I caaaaaan’t. I enjoy them so.
The Flavor Bible. It seems like a recurring theme in this post, but I’ve had this book for years but it really saved me this month. When recipe block hits, this solves all problems.
House of Cards. We watched the entire series in two whole days and I’m hooked. We loved it and now I can’t even wait until February. And yes, we did watch Orange is the New Black a few months ago and while I liked it, I’m just sort of… meh.
This brussels salad. I’ve still been eating sprouts like it’s my job. I just can’t get over it.
These cozy gap scarves. They are SO freaking soft and warm. And huge. You know I’m a crazy scarf person and this fits the bill.
[none of this is sponsored, just like to talk about things that I discover and love. there are a few amazon affiliate links above. love love.]

Off to find some merlot soaked parm…
We just did a House of Cards marathon too…I find Kevin Spacey so sexy in this show!! Maybe it’s the accent.
Oh my gosh – merlot cheese is fabulous! But have you had the Bella Vitano Espresso cheese?!?! Even better (and no, it doesn’t taste too coffee-ish ;)
talenti has a peppermint bark flavor!? gahh!!
I bought two of those GAP scarves – one in mint and one in the color you have and I bought two more for friends. They’re THE BEST scarves, EVER!! I seriously want to buy one in every color. I’m such a scarf whore. The GAP ones are really so soft and really does keep you warm!! Love love!
That Bellavitano cheese is seriously my JAM. So amazing and so delicious.
So much good stuff. I wish it were Christmas again and I could add these to my list.
I have fallen in love with smoked paprika this year. Just came back from doing the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky and I didn’t see any bourbon smoked paprika…that stuff looks amazing!
I’m with you on Orange is the New Black. I’m stuck halfway through episode 4. House of Cards may be next, though :)
THOSE GAP SCARVES ARE SO COZY! I love mine!!
I almost bought the flavor bible on my last amazon order. But I bought a mini food proc and a mini blow torch instead. That book is next.
bourbon smoked paprika = I never knew that existed! Wow, I want it.
That cheese sounds epic. Last holiday season (late fall 2012) TJs had a limited edition merlot soaked cheese and holy moly was it good. Never to be seen again since. Sniff.
Your boots are also fab! I live in Rainbows. Lol
i asked for the Flavor Bible for christmas after you mentioned it and am so excited to use it!
Bourbon smoked paprika?!? YES please!
Love how you included the Gap scarves! It was my first purchase as a Gap employee two years ago and I still love mine today!
I had to tell you I started to watch Nashville on Netflix because of all your Tuesday posts.. LOVE IT. so glad! i’ll have to watch house of cards after I finally finish dexter and breaking bad!
We love the Chex Mix recipe on the back of the box! We call it “munch” and we keep it in the freezer. It is the best snack. We have tried mixing in mini goldfish, using Crispix and also mini triscits. All good combos!!
Ok I need HELP. I bought similar Frye boots (the Jenna belted harness, without the studs) the other day after obsessing over them for months… but I just CANNOT get over the price tag! I haven’t worn them out of the house yet for fear I will change my mind, are they really THAT versatile? That timeless? Will they really last forever? Are they worth it? Seriously need help over here! Debating returning them and buying 2 pairs of cheaper boots. What should I do????
PS. Also loving the super cozy Gap scarves, I want all the colours!
hmmm not sure how to convince you… i just love mine! i’m by no means a boot connoisseur but i think frye has a pretty good rep and they will last for years. whereas cheaper boots may only last a season or two. i’ve had friends that have had frye’s for 10+ years! i’m terrible though and don’t have much guilt spending money on shoes… haha. i personally think they are worth it, but you gotta decide! :)
Thanks for the input Jessica! I think mine are going back :( If I’m gonna spend that much I need to LOVE them! Maybe I’ll try on some other Fryes though haha….
I had to comment on this post. One of the OB docs I work with is married to the guy who invented the bourbon barrel line. It’s crazy big here in Louisville and I’m glad to see it’s catching on in other parts of the country too!
that’s so cool – i freaking love it! i can’t seem to find it in my whole foods anymore so i’m hoping it comes back.
I got the flavor bible for Christmas and I adore it. I really feel it is going to help me become a cook instead of a gal who just cooks recipes she find on blogs and pinterest.
PS- I am coveting your frye boots, Santa didn’t bring those bad boys for Christmas.
Nice.
thanks for good post
