may favorites I howsweeteats.com

Below are the rest of my non-beauty related May favorites. YAY for May.

Grilled bread. This should come as no surprise but… grilled bread. I can’t stop. Next week I’m going to share an awesome not-so-recipe grilled bread recipe with you. Just wait.

I read a ton this past month but my favorite book by far was Sarah Pekkanen’s Catching Air. I’ve read all of her other books and this one did not disappoint. Super fun read – I just wish it would have continued! I hate when books end. I legit get depressed.

These black and white striped flats from halogen. I picked them up at nordstrom a few weeks ago after my cousin had a similar pair the past few months. I love them, but as you know I’m so not a flats girl. My first pair of flats EVER (like ever ever, besides when I was like 10) were my tieks in the fall that I adore. I’m trying to expand my horizons though. Love these. I’ve worn them with leggings and skirts so far.

As far as music goes? I still can’t get enough of the Michael Jackson/Justin Timberlake mashup Love Never Felt So Good. And I’m also loving Ingrid Michaelson’s Girls Chase Boys. AND I’m still in full blown country mode (OMG Miranda Lambert’s new album comes out tomorrow!) and blasting Brad Paisley’s Riverbank and Luke Bryan Play it Again. Could I BE more predictable?

Ummmm the Starbucks iced passion tea. I know. WAH! It’s just so good. A few of you told me to try it with a pump of raspberry and I gotta say that I wasn’t that impressed. But I also don’t omglove raspberry. I go for it unsweetened or half sweet depending on my mood. I also tried the lemonade, but for sure prefer the tea.

Speaking of flats, I also got these pink ones from Target. They are super stretchy and comfortable and so far I love them. Eddie hates them. He doesn’t love flats but he really doesn’t love these. Oh well! I don’t care.

These fun little beachy earrings. I love anthro’s cheaper post earrings and also have two other pairs I’m currently loving but can’t find online to link. Little studs. They are what I wear for everyday life along with my Kate Spade square studs that I own in practically every color.

My favorite candle during the summer months is this caribbean escape. It reminds me of the beach because a few years ago my aunt was burning it during our entire trip, and it’s just so good. I wish I didn’t love bath and body words candles as much as I do. I feel like that episode of sex and the city where samantha says ‘women with candles are starting to replace women with cats.” Yeah. No.

I’ve mentioned these before but I just adore the american eagle jeggings. I feel ridiculous going in there to buy jeans because it’s full of middle schoolers, but their jeggings in the short length are perfect for my stumpy legs.

With it being really hot out recently I’m pounding coconut water more than usual, especially after walking/running outside. You know the drill by now. My favorite (and only brand I like!) is Harmless Harvest. Mmmm.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but I’m dying over the entire Oh Joy line at Target. WHAAAAT. It’s so colorful and gorgeous. I bought some reusable straws and some paper products, but I need an entire outdoor garden so I can have a party and buy all the things.

Also loving this tie die slip dress. SO perfect for summer and I’ve already worn it three times. Ridiculously comfortable.

I love both of those pairs of flats. I am itching for some new shoes, but my feet are all weird and pregnant…sio, I’m resisting!

PS, when I worked at Starbucks (sooooo many years ago) we always made passion tea apple juice. I loved it.

I was JUST in American Eagle yesterday and had to leave because I felt SO out of place. When did teens start looking so much like babies?! But I agree, their jeggings and super stretch jeans are on point. I love that I can order them in long and extra-long!

Um, I HAVE STUMPY LEGS. (I always get a tad excited when someone else suffers as I do…) Do these jeans do curvy stumpy legs? Because I also have the curvy. Am not a stick. Am also not a preteen middle schooler. Also, small aside, you should add some vintage Kenny Rogers to your playlist. I have some going right now while I (am supposed to be) washing the floors. Highly motivating!

I’ve been drinking coconut water obsessively. And those black and white flats are totally adorable!

Jessica’s Cobb Salad hein? Looks terrific! You might want to try blueberry honey next time you buy some. Yah, like blueberries sucked by bees and transformed for our ohhh mahhh gaaahhh moments. Sweeter than regular clover honey. With a twist to it that you might enjoy! Great for the dressing, with a je-ne-sais-quoi that makes a difference.
Like you in our cooking lives…
For your entertainment, here is a potatoe salad like you never had one! The ’40 at its best! Enjoy.

just finished Catching Air last night – loved it! I’ve been so disappointed by the endings of most books I’ve read lately; this was great though.

It’s not creepy-stalkery that I remember you praising Elin Hildebrand & summery books set in Nantucket, right? (oh, goooood), try Nancy Thayer. Also loved Theory of Opposites by Allison Winn Scotch (only 2.99 on kindle); it was the first book I really enjoyed in a long time.

Jeggings at America Eagle, eh? I kinda just gave up on jeans entirely a few years ago because NOTHING would fit my thighs right and they were always 4 inches too long. You’ve got me hopeful that something might work though!

Also, I don’t even care to admit the amount of money I’ve spent on candles in the last year. But they’re sooooooooooooo nice.

    1. those Target shoes? I bet they last YEARS, I have an awesome pair of sandals (I believe they are Mossimo…) from… like… seven years ago. they still look brand new, and I wear them often every summer.

    2. I love Vince Vaughn and his character similarities. I want to be friends with him. I also love commenting about things from another post (I just read both).

    3. Harmless Harvest. yep.

I’m so addicted to the PFT right now!!! But I swear once Fall approaches I won’t order one again until Spring. Since I was in the area I stopped at Panera today for tea, which I used to love but it just isn’t the same as Starbucks pink foamy goodness.

I love the passion tea at Starbucks too. My favorite is to get half passion and half leonade sweetened. It is SO good! I also LOVE the AE leggings. I am super short so I love that they come in the short length because I don’t have to get them hemmed!

Did not even know Halogen made flats, but you better believe I’m gonna buy a bunch of them now. Good for my wardrobe, bad for my bank account.
