Tuesday Things.
1. These flowers are GROWING IN OUR YARD! I planted them last year and they came back. Mind = blown.
2. Sometimes I wonder why bread other than sourdough even exists.
3. But then. Cornbread hot dog buns?! This just took my favorite summer food to a whole new level.
4. Were you part of the group that got a stack (read: a gigantic brick) of restoration hardware catalogs at their doorstop last week? I’m so confused since I’m not even on an email list or anything. I haven’t bought anything recently besides a blanket six years ago. Rachel wrote the perfect post about it.
5. I have a problem of looking at texts and then forgetting about them before responding. Sometimes I do it when I sleep and sometimes when I’m listening to music on my phone and then I forget and the world thinks I’m a terrible person.
6. Last week when I talked about chips on sandwiches (a must), many of you said to use doritos. How weird is it that I don’t like doritos? I never have. Something off about them to me. Maybe all the orange hands.
7. I’ve become fascinated with going to Ireland. Like I want to go right now.
8. We finally finished Orange is the New Black last week and OMG the ending. It was so perfect! It made me love the show when I really didn’t before. I’m praying to the TV gods that True Blood gets better because I’m still so disappointed…. but let’s talk about the opening scene? Ha.
9. I’m not crazy into horoscopes but I do believe that I’m a true scorpio, so here are 23 probs only scorpios can understand. Almost all spot on. Gah.

GO GO GO to Ireland. OMG best.vacation.ever. Don’t let people tell you the food sucks because it SO does not. My BF is from Ireland and we stayed with her parents and had the best experience as a local (and tourist). OMG, I will take you, just make sure you GO!
K, I’m done now :-)
That flower is beautiful! Well done you :) and Ireland is lovely, you should visit.
Why has no one ever thought of cornbread hot dog buns before? Or am I just behind the 8 ball on this? It’s brilliant! My mind has been blown.
What a pretty flower!! I’m starting to get bad about texts. ughhh
I am dying to go to Italy, but I’d honestly go anywhere! I’ve never left the country except for Canada and that really doesn’t count.
I second your sentiment about Doritos. Dislike the orange hands and faux bright cheese color. Eek.
It’s true, doritos are just not that good. There are so many other chips I would rather feel guilty for eating!
I’m glad you didn’t give out any spoilers for Orange. I was kinda reading what you wrote with squinty eyes in case you did. (As if squinty eyes means I can un-read stuff or something.) I love that show. But I’ve loved it from the beginning! I sort of don’t want to finish Season 2.
Have you tried using salt and vinegar chips with a sandwich? It would def have to be the right kind of sandwich, but I think you could nail it.
My Restoration stack arrived yesterday and I was sooooo confused. Marketing fail.
I have always hated doritos! Kettle chips on a sandwich!! Ummm, I’m kind of glad I wasn’t the only one who got the STACK of RH catalogs. WTF! I mean, seriously. Also, Ireland = amazing.
Omg, gooooooo to Ireland! It’s gorgeous! Make sure you spend the least amount of time in Dublin. Get out to the countryside and smaller cities. Kilkenny is particularly awesome. I went to IRL once and can’t wait to go back some day.
OMG – I got that restoration hardware stack (errr…..brick) of catalogs last week. And it was actually in my mom’s name, but sent to my address. And she told me she got one at her home AND her office. What a waste!
I’m starting to be worse about texts…just seems like responding is a full time job?! And, that restoration hardware stack is still sitting in my garage since a month ago because I just don’t have the anticipated 3 years to read them all! I liked when one came at a time, even if it was “less green” and I’m not even sure about that concept they reference on the package.
Ugh I hate doritos, too! Especially the kind in the blue packaging… I’m shuddering. I do the same thing with my texts, you’re not alone in forgetting them :) And YES- sourdough is everything!
We got the Restoration Hardware monstrosity too – but it was addressed to the prior owner of our house. My hubby thought I should forward it to her – um, I don’t think so! It weighs more than our toddler!
Also: Ireland = AMAZING. I studied in Galway for a semester in college – the west coast of Ireland is totally where it’s at! Go, go, go!!!
#5 – my iphone is currently holding 63 unanswered text but I have no idea where they are hiding because I don’t even have 63 people who text me! I guess that’s what 3 years of terrible text answering will get you.
KINSALE. KINSALE, IRELAND NOW. It’s the foodie mecca of the country. Mind-blowingly good food. I still dream about it. I wrote the chef to get the recipe (spoiler: he never responded) for the meatballs. MEATBALLS. GO TO IRELAND.
Soooooo I’m the exact same way with the texting. I’ll fall asleep and groggily wake up to a text message but not really respond but in my dream I’ll respond so I’ll think I have responded but in reality, when I look back on the text two days later, I’m like OMG I’m such a bad friend, hahah
scorpios4lyfe
Go to Ireland! I just got back from my honeymoon there! Seriously, if you decide to go, email me. I have a huge list of every wonderful food spot in Dublin that I will gladly share with you!
I do the exact same thing with forgetting texts AND FB messages, especially ones that involve timely questions. Then I feel like a horrible person!
Also, I re-watched P.S. I Love You with Gerald Butler + Hilary Swank last night and now I’m thinking about Ireland. Ugh….so green and beautiful.
I am totally obsessed with Ireland, too! We had a good start on planning to go this past Spring, when my MIL got sick and we had to scrap our plans because my in-laws could no longer come down to stay with our kids. We were SO disappointed! We have vowed to make it happen somehow within the next two years!
The RH catalogs are apparently hitting the west coast this week because JUST TODAY at the doorway/entrance area of my building, there are enough catalogs for various residents that many forests must have had to have been chopped down!
And you don’t like Doritos? That was the after school snack of champions for me growing up!
So. Doritos. I always thought they were just okay. Then I moved to England and Doritos were The. Best. EVER. Thought I had a change of heart about them. Maybe my taste buds just needed to grow up? But NOPE. They’re different here in the States. If you’re going to Ireland (yes yes yes DO IT) you HAVE to try Doritos there. You simply must.
And then bring some home and mail them to me. Please and thank you.
oh those dang rh catalogs. whiskey tango foxtrot? you can opt out of getting anymore here: https://www.restorationhardware.com/customer-service/catalog-cancellation.jsp in the meantime, i’m trying to think of something clever and/or artsy to do with mine. alas.
I took my hubby to Ireland last may. Wonderful trip! Email me if you want details for things to do and places to go (is that weird, invisible internet friend?) but I have driven all over Southern Ireland and been to Dublin many times, so I have things to recommend and things to skip!
OMG, those cornbread hot dog buns look incredible!! How do you find all of these yummy eats? I would make them if I had the time before the 4th. Boo!
I know you said you’re not a fan of doritos, but what about pb/j on any soft bread with cool ranch doritos? No orange fingers. :)
Apparently I’m the only True Blood commenter.. ya that opening was… ya… ha!
It is getting very depressing especially that last episode on Sunday…. bleh…it is not even True Blood-like it used to be anymore.. it is so gorey and sick and yucky. AND thay are killing everyone off!!! I don’t even really like it but it is the last season and I feel , I don’t know know, like I would be missing out if I did not finish out the season… I am pretty dissapointed too.. and I am getting tired of Jasons dreams… enough already… just go for it dude .make it happen… ha!
I nearly died when I saw those cornbread hot dog buns! Now all I want is a huge beer and a loaded hot dog. And I don’t even drink/like beer! On another note, now I just want a huge chunk of jalapeno cornbread drizzled in honey and topped w/ butter, melting down the sides! Dammit! I absolutely cannot stand Doritos…I am a wavy ranch lays gal myself. I used to stuff a handful of them into my turkey/mayo sandwiches when I was a kid. Oh, and fritos…give me a sloppy joe stuffed w/ fritos and I’m in heaven! Lastly, I’ve heard that Ireland is gorgeous! You should def go and take lots of pics! :)
So, I never heard of restoration hardware before and was curious what it was so I googled it. Apparently they are located in the same office park where I work. That was… extremely random.
We’re the exact same person, from Scorpios to synchronized egg salad cravings (yeah that happened… it was weird)!
That flower is GORGEOUS!! I am also a sourdough lover, can’t get enough! And the OITNB finale was perfection!! I had a love/hate relationship with the show this season so I was happy to see how something ended.
ireland is THEEEEEEE best. i went last fall for the first time and fell in love. i am making it my goal to go back at least once every few years. it i a magical place and everyone is soooooo nice and friendly. GO!
I feel like #5 is directed at me, haha! 6% tax? Whaaaat?
Also, I HATE doritos with a passion.
That blog post about the RH catalogs was spot on!! It’s still by our door and every night when I walk by I mistakenly think it’s a package from Amazon or something fab that I haven’t opened yet. And then I remember it’s full of lovely things I can’t afford. Boo.
yes to ireland! such a beautiful country. and i’m praying with you about true blood, such a mess right now! i did think the second ep was better than the first, so who knows, maybe it’ll only get better from now on?
xo, cheyenne
I’m with you; Doritos are evil!
Come to Ireland!!!! Worth the hike!!! Not just saying that because I’m Irish :)
I sort of agree re: Doritos, I mean, I’ll eat them if there are no other crisps going but wouldnt buy them. Absolutely would NOT eat them on bread!
I went through a Doritos stage awhile back. Had to have them – like every day. I think it was because I was never allowed to eat them when I was little. Haven’t had them in ages!
Have you been watching P.S. I Love You recently as well? Because I just watched this go-to romance for the umteenth time and it ALWAYS makes me want to go to Ireland. SO beautiful.
So I got a phone call from my mom a week ago being like “I have your catalogues for RH, why did you request they send them here?’
ummmmmmmm, didn’t request them AT ALL and haven’t lived in that house in 6 YEARS! I was so confused. Glad to know other people randomly received them too!
The scorpio problems – bang on. I always have to dial down my excitement over things and I remember EVERYTHING. The Harry Potter reference though? Not my steeze.
I was one of the peeps who got the restoration catalogs too! Literally 20 pounds worth of paper…right into the recycling bin! The only thing I’ve purchased there was a clearance wood frame. WTH!
Your flowers look like lilies. They should come back every year. The previous owner planted lilies along the fenceline. They’ve been coming up for8 years and who knows how long they were there before that. They even survived the first spring where my husband mowed over them. He thought they were weeds!!!
ps send me all your Doritoes!
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now. Just had to say my neighbor also got the package of Restoration Hardware catalogs too. We’re still scratching our heads over that.
And I also have the same problem about returning texts. I thought something was wrong with me. Maybe it is but glad to know I am not alone!
Word. Scorpio.
I hate Doritos too! My husband thinks I’m inhuman for that, which is baffling, because I thought he’d be happy to have more Doritos for himself!
Oh boy. I’m a Scorpio (Nov 7) and that list is downright scary it’s so true!!
Sourdough, hands down, no need for any other.
That RH stack was insane! I couldn’t even lift it up!
Oh yes Jessica! Agree with Lisa P! That Scorpio list is so spot on it’s scary. Describes me exactly…maybe even some I’m not brave enough to admit to. I know, I know ….OWN IT! As for crunch on sandwiches, I’m loving cukes and peppadew peppers on them. And when I ran out of cukes I opted for grapes…is that a weird Scorpio quirk too?
The end of the second season of the Orange is the New Black was genius, even down to the song that the picked to play. I loved it.
