Tuesday Things.
1. Why can’t there just be a REGULAR pumpkin emoji and not the ugly jack o’ lantern?
2. Let’s discuss the gorgeousness of this galaxy layer cake. I want everything in my life to be that color.
3. On that same note, why can’t I just decorate ourĀ entire house in that color? My (horrific) decor style is like Lisa Frank meets Kelly Kapowski at a 70s tie dye rage. I was at Homegoods over the weekend and gravitated to a neon canvas painting. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO MAKE THIS WORK IN EVERYDAY LIFE.
4. 5 ways to break from a creative block. This is everything.
5. My closet has become a disaster zone. You know how if you don’t pick up one thing or put one shoe back in the right place, it becomes a black hole where some of your favorite tops go to die? Yeah. I’m at that point.
6. Eddie is worked up over the Taylor Swift breakup rumors. I wish I was making this up?
7. Um, thoughts on the Walking Dead? All those walkers?? Eeeek. I thought it was a great premier and gave me extreme faux TV anxiety for this season. I absolutely LOVED The Affair (and if you follow me on snapchat, then PACEY) and thought the episode was so, so good. A little creepy too! I ended up liking Homeland too but def not anywhere near my enjoyment for the first two seasons. Ooooh and I reeeeeally liked Scandal. We tried to watch The Leftovers and I screamed within the first 10 minutes of the episode from last week. NO. Not a fan.
8. I’m dying to have a Halloween party and use this table theme. So fun.
9. Craving a chocolate chip cookie like whoa. But I want to try a new recipe because I’m always looking for the next best thing. (or cookie.)
10. P.S. when might youĀ get sick of pumpkin pictures? I vote never.

I literally went from your blog to her blog and ran across this. It might help you, i know i need all the help I can get!!

I have been on the great “best chocolate chip cookie” search for aabout a year. Here are two of my faves (if you haven’t tried them yet):
http://bromabakery.com/2015/01/copycat-levain-bakery-chocolate-chip-cookies.html
http://bakeat350.blogspot.com/2015/05/six-degrees-of-chocolate-chip-cookies.html
both make big batches/big cookies and freeze well so you can pop out a few for a warm treat :)
Have you tried gimme some ovens coconut oil cookies? They are so good I put coconut oil in all of my chocolate chip cookies now!
Pumpkin pictures forever. And always a chocolate chip cookie. I need them in my house at all times.
Have you ever made the NYT’s chocolate chip cookie? If not, please make that your next one. They are a total pain in the ass because they need to be in the fridge overnight, but they are the freaking best. I make dozens at a time and keep them in the freezer!
I agree that that table setting is cute, but I’m disappointed to see a blog I love linking to a Susan G. Komen fundraiser. I’m very fond of your blog, both its recipes and your writing voice, and I hope you’ll take this as an alternate view point, not a criticism. I encourage you (and anyone else reading this!) to check these links out:

Pumpkin pictures forever. Agh love the Pink-O-Ween Tablescape!!
I’m just learning about decorating because I kind of sucked at it. Two tips: subscribe to home decor magazines, follow design bloggers, and look at the details as well as the big picture. It’s a lot more complicated than it seems but this has helped me develop an eye for it.
Second (take this with a grain, nay, a chunk of salt, as I know very little indeed): my inclination would be to pair neon accents with a white or charcoal backdrop (white slipcovers can be bleached in case of baby mishaps). Examples: http://shakinstyle.com/2012/04/neon-dark-gray.html

Good luck! You seem like you can do anything so I’m sure you can do this too.
I vote for a brand spankin new set of emoji’s ,,,,, especially a new pumpkin one!! I’m not even close to being ready for the weird jack o’ lantern!! Also, your decor style kills me every time you talk about it, I’m sure it all works.
And the closet blackhole is a thing … an ugly .. scary thing :( #SendHelp
I have a huge-especially-for-someone-that-lives-alone batch of these in my freezer right now:

You have to try it! And I have to pop some in the oven this very second…
I hate to parrot everyone else, but I also have a favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe :) Thomas Keller published his chocolate chip cookie recipe in his cookbook Ad Hoc. It is hands down the best cookie recipe I have ever used. Known for his precision at White Laundry, he brings that to the table in Ad Hoc. That is a fantastic element for the cookbook because by weighing out all the ingredients I can crank the same cookies out each time I bake a new batch. I attached a copy of the recipe. Also, do make sure to use the sugar he calls for, as the cookies are nowhere near as good with light brown sugar. I make my own molasses sugar in a food processor, via alton browns recipe, also below. In alton’s recipe be sure to use turbinado raw cane sugar and unsulphured blackstrap molasses. Hope you try them out!
Here is the recipe straight from the book: https://books.google.com/books?id=yMZn936MHLcC&pg=PA326&lpg=PA326&dq=thomas+keller+ad+hoc+chocolate+chip+cookies&source=bl&ots=liB6KbjVMk&sig=QCsgKn2pNUEVxOD1d9AZtZ6jcRI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCIQ6AEwATgKahUKEwiS_YXSlcHIAhWMoogKHavqDUs#v=onepage&q=thomas%20keller%20ad%20hoc%20chocolate%20chip%20cookies&f=false

That galaxy layer cake is gorg, and has now made me crave cake badly! I still need to get into the walking dead..I keep hearing amazing things about it but I haven’t dived into it yet. Perhaps it’ll be my reward for getting through this semester of uni? And no, never will be sick of pumpkin pictures x
This is my go-to CCC recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/25037/best-big-fat-chewy-chocolate-chip-cookie/
I follow it exactly but chill the dough before baking. People devour them!
Highly recommend PInch of YUM’s choc chip cookies. Best recipe I have found to date! YUMMMMMMM
Tell Eddie that it appears to be purely rumor. I mean Selena Gomez shot the rumor down and basically Calvin Harris did.
Ugh, those sprinkles KILL me. I have no reason to bake a cake that gorgeous, but I totally want to make one up just to buy the sprinkles. Also, her cookbook?? Every.single.page. is simply stunning.
Total first-world problem, but the pumpkin emoji thing has been a real concern for me about 5 times in the last 2 days. And yes to chocolate chip cookies. Always yes.
For organization, try Cass McCory’s Subtraction Project. She emails things to do/organize is very doable chunks. Love her practical approach.
Just made these last week and declare them the best chocolate chip cookies everrrr! http://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/chocolate-lovers-chocolate-chip-cookies/?m
THE AFFAIR! OMG so creepy good this last week. Even my husband, who had this “meh” attitude about watching it ended up glued to the couch and watched the whole episode with me! Like, I know you have to be open to either versions being the real story, but you KNOW Pacey is high on drugs so in his mind he’s being all polite and in reality he’s probably pinning her to the wall asking for the toilet. Christ it’s good.
Ditto the eeek! on the bazillion walkers. My husband’s been watching all along, but i finally got into it after I watched Fear the Walking Dead. Binge watching the previous seasons of TWD was probably not a good idea, though #toomanyzombies…I swear I passed a big field with cows grazing this weekend and my first thought was…OMG they’re not SAFE! LOL! As far as chocolate chip cookies…I’ll chime in with one that I love…nothing too fancy but flavor and texture are wonderful…bread flour for some extra chew…and the malt and just a hint of cocoa are perfect in them! (Ugh, now I want a chocolate chips cookie)

Love the Walking Dead and loving even more that it just keeps getting better and better every season. It was crazy the amount of walkers on the premier episode and cannot wait for what this season has in store for us. With you on the whole black hole closet disaster zone, mine is like that too right now and know I have to set a day to organize it, but is more fun to do other things like eat choc chip cookies and searching for a new recipe for them. Lately I made these and were amazing: http://joythebaker.com/2014/05/the-best-brown-butter-chocolate-chip-cookies/ http://cleobuttera.com/cookies/nutella-therapy-cookies/
Oh my closet… Like you, i moved into my house less than a year ago and my closet is a disaster. I have a great walk-in (which my boyfriend said I could have 100% and he uses the guest room closet) and it’s embarrassing how disorganized I am. I haven’t seen some of my favorite things since I moved. Someday I’ll find them…probably in their off season… Oh well. I have decided that it’s more important to do, well, most anything than clean my closet. Carpe diem!!
About decor…I don’t know if you’ve seen Emily Henderson’s work, but she’s my favorite designer and has SO many practical tips on her blog (and now book) that are useful even if you don’t go with her style. There have been a couple round-up posts of her best tips recently (BuzzFeed?, Cup of Jo) that are really awesome – just basic stuff about arranging your house. I highly recommend her! Plus she works with Target!
First- Tuesday things is my favorite. It’s the bright spot in a full week (even though I’m clearly a little behind). Second- that purple color is my everything. Seriously, I’m with you- let’s purple 80s neon all the things!!! Lastly, my closet is in the exact same state. I’m using the excuse of being super pregnant (almost 39 weeks), but the reality is I’m just too lazy & tired to care. ?
