My Favorite Holiday Music!
Oh hi, I’m addicted to holiday music.
Growing up, I’d start listening to Christmas music on November 1st. In fact, just a few years ago when I was stuck at a desk and so miserable in my job, I started listening to it in OCTOBER to cheer things up. Last year, I barely listened at all (1989 was my Christmas music, true life) while waiting on Max, so I’ve definitely been bingeing this year bigtime.
I’m absolutely in LOVE with the playlist above for dinner parties and get togethers.
P.S. this is my current spotify holiday playlist below… and I keep adding things to it. I’m hooked.
Um, also, can we talk about my absolute FAVORITE holiday albums? This is one of my obsessions and crazy enough, I own the actual CD for most of these, as opposed to just downloading it. Like, I still buy the tangible CD even today in 2015! There happen to be a bunch more albums I love, but I narrowed it down, hello, TWENTY. These are on repeat constantly throughout the season. Some play to my elderly soul (I’m a Fanilow) but are super nostalgic for me to listen to and remind me of holidays as a kid. What are your absolute favorite ones?!
Row 1: dave barnes – steve tyrell – 98 degrees – barry manilow
Row 2: frank sinatra – michael buble – kristin chenoweth – christina aguilera
Row 3: dave barnes – pentatonix – mariah carey – NSYNC
Row 4: lady antebellum – charlie brown christmas – trans siberian orchestra – josh groban
Row 5: idina menzel – kelly clarkson – matt wertz – she and himÂ
This stuff makes me ridiculously happy.

LOVE IT!! This is by far the best time of the year!!! these lists just get me more excited. Love your blog!
And my little one is about a month younger than Max so I really enjoy all the updates… prepares me for what’s to come :)
OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE PTX’S “THAT’S CHRISTMAS TO ME.” as in i forced a group of 30ish people to sit through the whole thing tonight while i sang the parts i wanted (a couple of seconds of the melody and then the bass and then i tried to hit the high notes but my voice started to crack).
Thanks for the playlist! Check this album out, I’ve had it on while Christmas decorating and cleaning.

I love Hanson’s Snowed In, it will forever be my favourite Christmas album, *sigh* Taylor…
Yes! Snowed In is my ultimate favorite too!
i am sad because i think i really missed out on this somehow when i was a tween! i wasn’t even into hanson, and i downloaded the album a few years ago when blogging friends told me it was the best, like nsync. but i couldn’t get into it, prob a nostalgia thing? WAH. i’m so left out.
You’re missing some of my favorites…. John Denver and the Muppets Christmas (was a favorite growing up and my kids love it now) and the Straight No Chaser ones! Thanks for the other suggestions… I don’t have done is these!
You’re missing HANSON!!! ;)
you’re missing do you hear what i hear by whitney houston!!! the best!
and of course, the 12 pains of christmas, a personal fave.
So I love She & Him and had no idea they had a Christmas album, so of course I went immediately to ITunes and bought it, Barry Manilow and Lady Antebellum!! So pumped to listen to them over and over. I buy them this way and then burn them to CD. I’m so bad and scratching CD in my car, so its better for me to be able to reburn them whenever I need to. FYI the 1st Glee Christmas CD is AWESOME! and I totally love the Josh Groban one also!! Good choices!!! I squash the No Chasers. I hate their 12 days of Christmas version! I started listening November 1st also!!
This playlist is perfect! Some of my favorites all in one spot!

Ah! I was wondering if you had the Lady A album! As much as I love Mariah Carey’s version of “All I Want for Christmas is You,” I like Lady A’s too. Thanks for sharing your holiday music favorites!
You are KILLING IT when it comes to the holidays this year!!!!
This is embarrassing to admit, but since NSYNC is my FAVORITE Christmas album in the whole entire universe, and I know you share the love, I feel like I must tell you that my second favorite at the moment is Justin Bieber’s Under the Mistletoe. Eeeks. I’m going to go crawl back into my hole now….
ummm… i’ve heard it. and loved it. i’m just as embarrassing.
Yes yes yes, I’m always looking for new holiday music so this is perfect! The She and Him Christmas album is my favourite, I think.
Ah, I’m in the midst of making my Christmas playlist too, so this was very helpful!
More that I love:
Santa, Can You Hear Me? – Britney Spears
Christmas Wrapping – The Waitresses
Just Like Christmas – Low
Feliz Navidad – Jose Feliciano
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas – Rockapella
My favorite from childhood is this one: (A Reggae Christmas http://www.amazon.com/Reggae-Christmas-Explicit-Various-artists/dp/B005CTPCJI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449189059&sr=8-1&keywords=a+reggae+christmas+eek+a+mouse) — it is seriously amazing!!
I also love the first Concord Jazz Christmas, Chris Isaak, Diana Krall and the new Sharon Jones Christmas cd!!
I might have just purchased five sets of matching Christmas pajamas for my family. And you might want to check out the movie Millions, it’s one of my favorites. It’s a Christmas movie.
Your holiday posts are getting me sooo in the spirit. Loving them so much. i couldn’t wait for your music post, and had some awesome suggestions. But of course you already know of most of them already!!! Lol! Great minds! I totally still buy the CD’s too, btw. Ha!
Idina’s is beautiful – When You WIsh Upon A Star is not even a Christmas song and I don’t even normally like it, but I could listen to that over and OVER. It’s unreal. Kelly Clarkson’s got several amazingly great songs on her album. Love it too! A newer discovery for me. Love She & Him. If I could have anyone’s singing voice in the world, it might be Zooey D’s. It has such a classic, old-time sound! Lady A, Charlie Brown, Mariah? Yes, yes, and yes!
Also, I still love all Amy Grant Christmas CDs and I’d recommend all 4 (yes, 4!) Michael W. Smith Christmas CDs. Far and away, the most beautiful and amazing Christmas music ever. PLEASE go download Michael W. Smith and Carrie Underwood’s “All is Well” duo. INCREDIBLE. No words.
I would listen to holiday music year round if I could!

I love this post! I just started following your playlist and can’t wait to see what else you add. My absolute favorite Christmas Album is “Ella Wishes You a Swingin’ Christmas.” Tons of movies use different songs from this album, because every song is Ella Fitzgerald jazz perfection. It also has one of the most exciting renditions of Jingle Bells I’ve ever heard. You have to listen!
I know I’m a week late, but I really wanted to tell you that I think you would like “In the Morning” by Jack Johnson. It is so sweet, especially since you have a baby now. I love your list and albums, some of my faves too!
NSYNC for the win. but also…. the Justin Bieber Christmas album is on repeat around this time. also favorite song since I was a kid: grandma got run over by a reindeer FOR SURE. (it really is a wonder that I was the favorite grandchild.)
you’re missing The Waitresses! I know everyone hates that song, but I can’t live without it.
yes yes yes!!! Everything about this list is perfection. I am planning to host Christmas brunch this year. I would love your suggestions on your holiday favorites :)
the new Kylie minogue , just release last november (KYLIE CHRISTMAS)

One of my favorite Christmas albums is The Carpenters Christmas Portrait.
I also love the old Time Life Treasury of Christmas.
I guess I stick with what what my parents played when I was growing up. Lots of Burl Ives, BIng Crosby, Andy Williams, Roger Whittaker. I like the newer stuff too though, even the ones people are ashamed to admit they like. Great list btw.
thank you so much! i will share to friends
