Hot Cocoa Cookies.
I’m in deep, deep lust.
With cookie dough that looks like this…
And tastes like this…
And even has a big swirl of this inside…
That would be marshmallow fluff. You must hop on this gravy train.
The mission was to make double fudge chocolate chip cookies that mimicked the taste of cozy, steaming, creamy hot cocoa. Mission accomplished.
Then I got a little frisky and dunked a cookie.
My eyes darted from side to side as I slurped some soggy marshmallows. I thought I was safe, but Mr. How Sweet caught me. Oh well, I’ve caught him doing much worse.
Hot Cocoa Cookies
makes approximately 24 cookies
1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup marshmallow fluff
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup mini marshmallows
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt and mix until combined. Stir in marshmallow fluff.
Fold in chocolate chips and marshmallows. Cover dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Remove, and roll into 1 1/2-inch balls.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Make sure cookies are fully cooked, because they will be very sticky from the marshmallows. Allow cookies to cool completely, even sticking them in the fridge for 15 minutes before removing from the baking sheet with a spatula. Be patient and gently remove cookies – let sit another 30 minutes.
You must make these cookies. Even if only to dunk them in cocoa. They will warm your soul.

I think this has to be added to my list of Christmas cookies!
I think so too!
Beautiful pictures, as always!! These look like the perfect freezing cold winter cookie…which, unfortunately, I think we’re on the verge of diving into :-)
This warms me up and squashes my sweet tooth in one clean swoop. Now that’s what I call multi-tasking. ;-)
Girl, you are killin’ me with these! I *love* marshmallow in baked goods. One of my favorite things ever.
Oh my these look wonderful (and with a cup of butter, I have no doubt they are!). Marshmallow cream just isn’t used enough in cookies–I used some in a S’More cookie recipe this summer, and wondered why it took me so long to incorporate it into my treats!
A CUP OF BUTTER!! I was so busy drooling over the pics I didn’t get a chance to read the recipe. But hey, I love butter, so I’m going for it.
Suzanne
You’re amazing.
I wasn’t going to bake today, but now I totally am.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm! These are totally going on my “must make” list!!
WOW. Those look SO good. I am definitely adding them of my list of things to bake – can’t go wrong with chocolate and marshmallows!!
Cocoa! Great idea! I’ll make these for Ben tonight and get him some cocoa.
Btw, I wanted to make something for my trainer and am torn between my pumpkin bread and these oatmeal cranberry walnut cookies….any advice?
I’m thinking pumpkin bread! You could even use whole wheat pastry flour??
Stop it- just stop!! ;) I am doing a ton of Christmas baking this weekend and these may make an appearance.
This looks positively sinful. If I weren’t still recovering from a pumpkin and pecan pie induced sugar coma, I’d make these for breakfast today.
Ok, I am totally making these cookies! Growing up, I always went to my mom’s office cookie swap. That is the one thing I have always wanted to do as a grown up. I wish we lived closer…I would absolutely want these to be brought to that swap!
I have always wanted to do one too! I’ve actually never been a part of one. Wish you lived closer too.
Wow! i am so impressed. these cookies look awesome!
Those look like something that would not last long in this house. Might not even make it to the oven – the dough looks too good! I may have to save the recipe and have cocoa for now, so many cookies already and it’s not even quite December yet! I’m in trouble!
You are right – the dough barely made it into the oven!
Yum!! I’ve yet to break out the hot cocoa..it’s been a bit too warm still for that. But it’s never too warm for cookies. ;) thanks!
AHHHHHHHH Chocolate chunks and marshmallow fluff, married in a cookie. Make that a *chocolate* cookie. This is awesome. And yes, I need to make it.
OMG these are gorgeous! The cookies look so gooey and gorgeous.. I wonder if it would be wrong to eat them for breakfast? ;)
i need these in my life now… my mom would be obsessed with these!
What an amazing cookie, Jessica! You are so creative, and all I am is feeling really guilty that I want one of these for breakfast right now! :-)
OH GOD PLEASE MARRY ME, Mr Cookie Dough.
Oh my gosh this is an amazing idea. What is it about HOT chocolate that tastes so different from any kind of regular chocolate? Delicious!
What a creative cookie! Perfect for this time of year…..mmmm. Now I want a big mug of hot chocolate….and one of those cookies.
Oh. Wow. If I wasn’t detoxin’ it, I would be making these NOW. Guess it will have to wait til next week. Or tomorrow… depending on my willpower. ;)
xo
I vote tomorrow. :)
Now you’ve REALLY done it…OMFG!!! Making these on Friday!!!!!
If it weren’t about to storm/I had the car today, I would go to the store RIGHT NOW to get marshmallows and marshmallow fluff so I could make these…
I guess tomorrow will have to do.
I think the Husband would leave me if I DIDN’T make these cookies.
Oh goodness.
I’ll be making these. Tonight.
Thanks!
Let me know if you do!
I did end up making a half-batch of these last night, and they got rave reviews. The name definitely fits! :) Thanks for posting the recipe Jessica!
Woohoo! SO glad you guys liked them. Did you have trouble with them being too sticky to come off the baking sheet?
No, I stuck them in the refrigerator like you recommended, and they came off just fine. I did try to take them off too soon so a couple fell apart…but that just meant I had to eat them right away (oh darn).
Good to know! Thanks for the update.
Holy WHAT? Will you please write a cookbook?
Wow – these look incredible! Love the idea of using fluff!
marshmallows!!! ahh heaven :)
My boyfriend loves marshmallows. Do the marshmallows really pop or are they subtle?
You can definitely taste them!!
I got marshmallows at the store and I am starting these right now!
Report back!
Wow, these look amazing. I would’ve done the same thing and dunked em too!
Mmm, these look so decadent! I love hot cocoa so I know I would love these!
Whaaaa? Lady you’re a genius…we must make stat! We’re hot chocolate freaks…um and obvs cookie freaks…combining our loves – yay!
Oh my gosh. These might be better than your double chocolate espresso cookies. Meaning it is the one thing I will be baking this holiday season. You cannot go wrong with Fluff!
Oh hot damn! This must be what heaven’s cookies look like!
