Tuesday Things.
1. Am I the only one who has a sick fascination with looking back at old to-do lists? It most likely is related to my nostalgia-issue but I write down almost everything in this one giant notebook (read: notes, recipes, to-do lists and song lyrics I can’t figure out) I have, switching them out once they get full. And when I flip through pages looking for a blank space, I get all giddy finding past to-do lists and trying to match them up with the time of year or day. Sad sad sad.
2. Could this be it? The one way that I can learn to enjoy broccoli? Let’s add another cup of cheese and I think we have a winner.
3. Today my talented friend Bridget’s book comes out! I’ve mentioned it before but meeting Bridget solidified the fact that she is one of my most favorite people in the world. No exaggeration. Oh and last night I had some dream that we were in a little cottage with Katie Couric. I have no idea. I’m watching way too much TV.
4. I’ve been making a bunch of these pumpkin pie smoothies (up there) with fresh pumpkin puree, pumpkin greek yogurt, vanilla almond milk, a ton of spice and cinnamon and occasionally some of the 0% vanilla greek frozen yogurt from Trader Joe’s. I would like to bathe in it. I also made one with a boatload of butternut squash I had left in the fridge. In.love.
5. Speaking of Trader Joe’s stuff, I’ve been going crazy over their cranberry maple nut granola. It is so crunchy. I put it over a microwaved honeycrisp with loads of cinnamon. It makes me love life.
6. To put it bluntly, I would sell my soul for one of these whole wheat pumpkin spice latte muffins right now. Okay, more like three of them.
7. Do you have any idea how badly I wanted a hot pink swatch watch when I was a tween? I eventually got one for Christmas or something and am now kicking myself that I didn’t keep it. From now on I’m saving EVERYTHING.
8. Over the weekend we watched the new movie Liberal Arts, and ohmygaaaaah I loved it so much. Now don’t get all excited because it’s known that I’m a horrible critic and love pretty much everything, and I think my affection for the flick had a lot to do with the fact that I married someone older than me. But it… was so freaking good. Now that I said that you’ll probably hate it.
9. Your daily dose of bad influence: okay listen. If you have green eyes, you should most definitely buy this mascara. Yes, it says fascinating violet. Yes, that means it’s purple. I promise you won’t look trashy or like you’re stuck in the 80s or like you’re dressing up for Halloween. And I know that’s not very convincing coming from me. But. It is so faint that you cannot actually tell it’s purple from a distance, and it makes your eyes look awesome. And I think they have a burgundy one for blue eyes. Don’t be scared. Just do it.
10. Hello: loving this list of the 10 best and worst fictional boyfriends of all time, but I can’t help but wonder WHERE IS PACEY WITTER? I really mean it too.
11. My husband has started drinking wine. Like, real wine. RED wine. Not Boone’s that he drank in college when he couldn’t get his hands on anything else. And not because I tried to shove it down his throat and he finally gave in to shut me up. It happen on his own time. I have no idea what to think about this. I’m afraid to get excited because I fear the rug will be pulled out from under me in a few weeks when he declares it was a quick phase and he will never, ever drink wine again. I’m also utterly confused. This is almost as shocking as if he told me he wanted to try a vegan diet or something. It makes me want to drag him to wine country while I still have the chance. It makes me think the world is ending.

I was just doing the dishes and was thinking…hmmm, I haven’t seen Jess’ Tuesday Things post yet…is it actually Tuesday? I just totally thought it wasn’t Tuesday yet bc I hadn’t seen this post yet. ahhh, all fixed now. :)
I drank Boone’s before. No comment.
I love to do lists but I throw them away when I’m done…it’s like a huge weight off my shoulders.
That smoothie looks great! I have tried to make a pumpkin smoothie with similar ingredients but they don’t taste pumpkin-y enough, you know? There always seems to be a sweetness or a spice missing. Can you post your recipe?
I had a swatch WALL CLOCK and I’m paper cutting myself (gross) for not saving it.
What if Eddie wants to start eating brie too? Dude, take PICTURES OF THIS.
I really wish my husband drank wine. That way I wouldn’t have to drink the whole bottle myself.
I used to wear violet mascara (green eyed gal over here!)! But then I was afraid I was spinning out of control and my eyeshadow choices were getting more and more ballsy…so I scaled back to black. :)
Love your blog! Most favorite mascara EVER!!
That mascara looks life changing!!
i totally keep old notebooks full of to-do and grocery lists and whatever other random notes i stick in there. it’s a freaking treasure trove to go back through them–glad i’m not the only weird one :)
I’m also crazy about looking at older to-do lists. Thought I was the only one!
And Pacey Witter – best boyfriend ever! Why is he not real??
Joshua Jackson lover for life!
Your Tuesday Things is very inspiring. It is making me make my own list of things on my blog too
Just have to say… that I love you!! Your Tuesday Things always make my day!!!!
I don’t do that with to-do lists, but I DO do that with old checkbooks. I like going back through and remembering different events, based on the things I bought at that time haha!! Is that weird?!
Oh, man, that top 10 best/worst fictional boyfriend was the BEST. I’m still laughing at Ron Weasly-“He comes from a cool, down-to-earth family of poverty-stricken gingers, who all basically just live in a shoe, eat gruel, keep warm together under a home-knitted blanket, and other adorable Dickensian poor people activities”
Thanks for the laugh!
OMG, i wanted a pink swatch watch too. I got a blue one? go figure. I actually still have mine though. total pack rat. i still have my nkotb twin bed sheets, haha and the nkotb dolls, all except jon :( nostalgia
I love your Tuesday Things posts. I second another poster in that I would like your recipe for the pumpkin pie smoothies – sounds delicious. And I’ve added that mascara to my Sephora list.
Enjoy the wine together! I would give anything for a little wine country getaway right about now. You’re footloose and fancy free – If I were you…. Glad he’s on board with reds!
And I just saw Deb’s broccoli. It makes me want to bake. It’s like…95F here today. So weird!
wherever you are….come to New York State to Finger Lakes Wine Country! enjoy our lakes, our colors and wine, wine, wine everywhere!!!
how have i never seen pumpkin greek yogurt?! sounds divine!
I made those muffins and they are GLORIOUS. Totally worth the price of one soul.
Sometimes I feel like Deb from Smitten Kitchen is my spirit animal. Let’s all go away to France and be neighbors, mmkay?
But you should start by bringing Mr. How Sweet to Northern California and going to Napa while you still can! I’m going on Saturday. So excited.
OH!!! Thank you!!! YOU, my dear, are one of MY favorite people ever. You, me, Katie, cottage….let’s so it.
PS…you should totally get in that trip to wine country!!!
I just made the exact same pumpkin smoothie for lunch today, minus the fro-yo but I have to say, that’s an excellent idea!
Pacey should be included!!! I’m so in love with all your posts, and I love to visit your blog everyday. :) Keep the amazing posts coming.
OK, so i’ve been rabidly watching seasons of dawson’s creek on netflix, and mostly i’m realizing a few small things: 1) Dawson is a weenie 2) WHERE are these kids’ parents? 3) Pacey was an AMAZING boyfriend until he wasn’t.
and p.s. you have to try the new Origins Gin-Zing mascara. It will change your life.
Pretty sure Joffrey should be #1 on that list of worst boyfriends. Also, you are a bad influence: I was supposed to get work done, but then I read Thought Catalogue for an hour instead.
(Thanks.)
I am so going straight out to buy that mascara!!!! Thanks.
I second/third/whatever the “Where in the hell is Pacey Witter?” comment. Also deserving to be on the “Best” list is Cappie from Greek. Once I finished the series on Netflix I coudln’t sleep for weeks without dreaming of him.
I too save all my old to do list notebooks and I LOVE going through them. I thought I was the only one who does this!
I told someone today that TJ’s pumpkin greek yogurt is the best, and I stand by my recommendation. it is SO good. I love their granola as well. I’ve been mixing their low-fat almond granola in with my pumpkin yogurt. it’s so so crunchy! I would go on an all-TJ’s diet if I could. I don’t look at old to-do lists, but I can never bring myself to recycle my old planners. I love looking back at what types of thing I was doing last year (or 2 or 3 years ago). crazy!
I love pumpkin! Nothing sounds better right now than a pumpkin milkshake either!!
I love looking at my old to-do lists. They make me laugh and bring back old memories! It also makes me realize that some things might never get done…because they are still on my to do list.
And, while this has nothing to do with you or your blog, I drank a “White Russian” for the first time tonight and I am literally freaking out that it took me this long to try such a fantastic beverage. I am telling you this in case you’ve never tried one…unless the thought of milk + liquor repulses you.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!! Purple mascara?!?!? I’m in love!!!! Also, I’ve totally secretly crushed on nearly every single one of those fictional boyfriends…except Joffrey Baratheon b/c I’ve read all of the books so I know EXACTLY what he’s got coming to him. Jerk-wad.
I need to try that Greek Pumpkin Yogurt from TJ’s. I just saw it on their website last night. Yes. I was looking on the TJ’s website. I am not ashamed.
Oh yeah. And cookie butter is back!
#1 – Not so much old to-do lists here, but I love finding old grocery lists (since they’re strewn throughout my giant Mary Poppins purse) and trying to figure out what the heck I was making.
#9 – Fellow green eyed girl here. My mom also has green eyes, uses that mascara, and told me how awesome it is. I told her it sounded weird, but now I think I have to try it…she’s going to be mad I listened to someone I’ve never met but not her :)
I saw that broccoli pasta recipe this afternoon and then made it for dinner because it looked so good, and I can unequivocally say that yes, you will learn to love broccoli with that dish. It was SO GOOD. All of us had seconds, and agreed we need to make it again, often. GO FOR IT!
The only thing I like better than perusing through my own crammed notebooks full of old lists is finding others lists, either in photographs or in person.meven if it’s just a made up list in a pottery barn catalog. I’m obsessed.
#1 – I can’t even tell you how many things I wish I had kept from when I was a kid. Hello, pocket rockers!!
#2 – I also get a weird sense of satisfaction to see old to-do lists. I have such a crazy fascination with organization.
#3 – I promise to email you tomorrow! We are due a lunch date! Finally getting back into the swing of things!
I love #10 – Pacey is the best!
#1 Yes. I have a sick problem and there are maybe 35 almost full spiral notebook sin my house and I won’t let anyone throw them away in case there is some very important piece of info that I forgot to get out of it’s nasty food splattered, wrinkled up pages.
#9 I love that Mascara- it does make green eyes look greener!
#11 Run to wine country as fast as you can- it will only make him like it more.
I love writing To-Do lists , but if they get too messy, I rewrite them and even write stuff again that I have done so I can have some crossed off stuff on the list….WEIRD!
Two things:
1. I adore reading old to-do lists. It makes me feel so accomplished!
2. I don’t think it’s a good think your hubby is into wine. I long for the days when I was the only one who drank it! I had it all to myself! Sharing sucks ;)
I love to-do lists!! That Trader Joes’s granola looks seriously like something I could get behind.
Could you pretty please post your recipe for that pumpkin smoothie? I’m salivating over the thought but if I just tried to throw all those things in a blender willy nilly I’m pretty sure it would be a disaster! Thanks! :)
The fact that Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad is on the Best Boyfriends list makes my life.
Love looking at old to-do lists….it reminds me of the things I still need to do…lol
I saw that broccoli recipe earlier, let me know if you try it. Sounds deeelish! I also am kicking myself for not saving my hot pink swatch watch. I don’t think I gave it away or anything, I just have no clue where in the universe of lost/forgotten things it is. I am alos loving that pumpkin smoothie idea!
I loved TC’s best+worst fictional boyfriends AND girlfriends lists. The Disney prince list was pretty rad, too. Team Noah for my boyfriend anyyyyddaaaay, giiirl. Also, purple mascara. Love it.
Definitely eyeing that mascara now (green eyed person!). And I love all the pictures in this post! They feel so vintage and classic. :)
This makes me die laughing! My husband doesn’t drink at all and recently I’ve introduced him to amaretto sours. When he asks me to make him one, I get giddy but also a little suspicious…what the hell is he up to!?!?! :-)
Guilty of looking over old to do lists and schedules to figure out what I was doing at the time, it’s a weird fascination!
I don’t have to do lists, I try to remember everything I have to do or need and epically fail. But I do keep old receipts and I look over them and think about when I was in the store, I check the dates and compare what I bought last year to what I bought now. yeah, I have no life and very few friends.
