Tuesday Things.
1. These sprinkles look totally awesome because I just spent 58 minutes picking them up piece by piece off a pantry shelf, stuck in between jars and what not. I figured I had to at least use them for a photo if I couldn’t put them in cookies.
2. Please tell me how this is possible: freaking oatmeal with a cookie topping. I don’t even like oatmeal. Unless we’re talking the instant flavored junk. I am making this tomorrow morning. Seriously.
3. Is it snowing where you are? What is this baloney? My neighbor is currently putting out Christmas lights and I’m kind of tempted to do the same.
4. In a weird turn of events, Eddie never ended up getting the new TSwift album after declaring it “too poppy.” I kept previewing it on iTunes and after a fairly craptastic day, he surprised me with it (the deluxe version from Target, obvi) and I CAN’T STOP LISTENING. I am obsessed. Like blasting it in a Kelly-Clarkson-song kind of way. Like screaming lyrics in the car. This was unexpected.
5. Speaking of TSwift, please tell me you’ve seen this video. Tons of you sent it to me over the last week which begs the question of… did you know I used to do aerobic videos like this in my bedroom back in the day? I probably still own them.
6. I am declaring The Affair my FAVORITE show on TV right now. I know I said it last week but I am so drawn in. I go from hating both characters to loving them and OMG how good was Pacey this week? That’s his name… Pacey. I actually am happy with the events of Homeland so the uncomfortableness can be over but, like, WTF Carrie? I want to get into more detail about last week’s SOA episode because of how the certain event transpired. My freaking HEART. I was slightly bored by the Walking Dead again, but I prefer that to heart attack inducing anxiety. I think that’s enough TV for now. (though I am also really into Scandal!)
7. Was going to link a 90s quiz here (shocking) because I’m predictable, but then I started wondering… am I an 80s kid or a 90s kid? I kinda feel like I’m both.
8. It feels too early to start talking about Thanksgiving, but tell me what DESSERT you’re making! That’s important.
9. On a bummer note, after a doctor’s appointment this morning I have to cancel my book signing in DC next week. Apparently I will be 37 weeks pregnant and according to some things going on, could HAVE A BABY? I thought about secretly still going and not telling her (it’s only a few hours away!) but then her words of “I can’t help you if you’re there!” keep resounding in my head. This means that I will probably have the baby in approximately eight more weeks and be pregnant forever. You know it will happen.

Obviously, I’m majorly bummed about the DC part, but laughed out loud at you saying you will be pregnant forever! Why does the universe always work out that way? ]
And that oatmeal is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Shocked hand to face emoji x 1,000,000.
gahhh spilt sprinkles are the SADDEST! at least they still look pretty.
ok and i literally cannot even stand the previews for the affair, they freak me out so much! i should just suck it up and watch an episode already. and YES WTF CARRIE IS RIGHT!
yay for almost baby time!!!!!
It’s definitely not too early to talk about Thanksgiving! I need to order my turkey this week. For dessert, I’m making apple (obv) and a pumpkin cheesecake pie from King Arthur Flour.
I just started The Affair over the weekend and I’m obsessed. Need to watch the latest 2 episodes before I’m caught up but I can’t wait. I feel like this is what I desperately wanted Revenge to be when it first premiered but it hasn’t jumped the shark yet.
Super bummed you won’t make it to DC but babies are important! Yay good luck!
I totally would have used the sprinkles anyway. They’re just too good to not eat!
Laughed, then cried laughing at the shake it off video. OMG.
Ahhhhh, babyyyyyyy!!!! Haven’t watched The Affair yet, but Newsroom just started back up and it’s SO freaking good…unfortunately the last season. Also, Carrie is looooosing it!
I broke down and bought the Taylor Swift CD too.. and have been obnoxiously blasting it Kelly Clarkson style.. It’s embarrassing. I feel bad for my neighbors (but not really).
OMG Sons of Anarchy last week! I was so sad and now I’m afraid for the rest of the season!
I literally gasped at the “certain event” on SOA! Looking back, it’s not so shocking, but something about how they did it got me – job well done! I hadn’t had *feelings* while watching the show in a while!
Omg those last few Ob appointments before you deliver, they are so exciting and nerve-racking at the same time, at least for me :) Good call on canceling your book signing and staying home. Take a breather and relax!!
You are PREGGERS!!!! It’s crazy. I hope he or she comes right on the due date… for us Type A folks :)
Speaking of Pacey…this is amazing – assuming you are on the Pacey/Joey train, which I assume you are because you have amazing taste in all things :) It’s super long – I’ve only watched part of it, but this is fantastic:

SO sad you’re not coming to D.C., but SO excited for your new bundle of joy – congratulations! Please come next year (that feels so weird to say – is it really almost 2015?!)!!!
This is the most wonderful thing ever created of all time!!!
ummmm i had not seen this. i’m DYING.
I am shocked that I love the Taylor Swift album as much as I do. You’ve probably already seen it but SNL actually made fun of the fact that it’s so good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAhAz7JU0dg
didn’t see it!! omg.
Everyone in DC just let out a huge cry! Bought my ticket for the book fair just to see you!
UGH i am so sorry! if it was really just up to me i’d totally come! i really thought it would be fine!
Always better to be safe! But you will just have to make a return so that you can claim those Baked and Wired funfetti cupcakes I wanted to bring you!
I need to give the Taylor CD another chance because the first few times I listened to it I just kept thinking “this is no ‘Red'” and I turned it off. Now I’m kind of listening to Christmas music (Kelly Clarkson’s is the best ever) but I’ll try again. I just started watching Walking Dead this season and I cannot stop thinking about it. It freaks me out, it grosses me out but those people are in my head already. I agree that this week’s episode was a little blah but also enough to make me think obsessively about it ever since. And I hate that they’re all split up…oh and that fire truck! Gag.
i never got into Red, but eddie loved it – maybe that’s why he didn’t get super into this album (… yet!)
Can you hear the devastated cries from DC? I wouldn’t be surprised. So bummed, but obvi take care of you and the baby first! I hope the last few weeks is a breeze. I always make pumpkin pie with the can recipe. It’s traditional for a reason. Also, there’s usually pumpkin ginger trifle. Other desserts vary and I haven’t decided what else to make this year. I can’t deal with the Christmas stuff out already. Still too soon for me!
i am seriously bummed too!! i’m so sorry!
Awww, will be thinking of you next week!
I have to disagree with the commenter above… I felt like the “event” on SOA was too predictable. Something like that, involving that person, should be a complete shock – like Jarry and Chibs in the parking garage (!!!), but there were too many red herrings. I have to say with so much potential, this season has been a disappointment.
Take care of yourself this week and in the weeks ahead. We’re so excited for you!!
i can totally see that! and omg… the garage scene. WTF!
i’m curious – have you watched SOA from the beginning? i’ve listened to a lot of podcasts about this episode and everyone agrees with you and they’ve all been watching from the beginning. they hate this season! i think since i’m a new watcher (i just watched the entire thing last december) i feel slightly differently and am still in the honeymoon phase and that’s why? but the same has happened to me with shows i watched from the start (true blood, homeland, etc – that i think all have ended up sucking) – the part that did kill me is that bobby was in jax’s arms! AW.
That TSwift song will never be the same – I’ll always think of that 180’s arobics video now!
I was so so sad when you had to cancel your Chapel Hill signing. I’m a Canadian who had just happened to be visiting NC with a friend at that time and my friend even let me schedule our trip so I could go! I hope that wasn’t pregnancy-related too :-(
i’m so sorry!!
SNOW EVERYWHERE. Duluth MN got hit hard, and I’m so surprised my little Honda was able to take me home last night, and still get me to work today! But – TSwift makes it about 100% better, so that’s fine (except that I dropped it outside the first day I had it, and it scratched up JUST track 2, Blank Space, which makes me a tiny bit sad!).
The Affair. I can’t stop myself with this show!!! Officially obsessed.
I wish it was snowing. It’s barely entering the high 50’s here. i swear I saw snow flurries earlier, though. Or maybe it was just construction site debris. A girl can dream.
My kiddo arrived the day before she was due. I bet if you do go to DC, you will start having contractions mid-book signing. No doubt.
GAHHH. and now that i can’t go, i’ll probably have to be induced in late december!
Spilt sprinkles make me sad too. What is that oatmeal creation?! I’m going to have to try that!
Dessert for Tgivs = my great grandmother’s pumpkin pie recipe and maybeeee her chocolate cream pie too! I cannot wait!
Thanksgiving is always on the mind, girl. Pumpkin pie cheesecake with a gingersnap crust. And toasted marshmallow!
Thanksgiving dessert will be crescent roll cheesecake with a homemade apple pie filling as topping. It’s delicious! The cheesecake doesn’t quite set up so it’s like eating a really rich, creamy sauce. How about you? Are you planning on baking anything? (Since you just KNOW the kid isn’t coming ever, and all. Lol)
that sounds amazzzzing!
i usually stick more to the savory side (sweet potato casserole, etc) but i might make a dessert! probably something chocolate-y though since much of my family is anti-pumpkin. WAH.
I love aerobic videos!
Alright alright, I will add the affair to my weekly shows queue! I can’t stand not being in the know re: this new tv obsession. Ah, so excited next week is 37 weeks for you and little baby how sweet it is!
I am loving the new Taylor swift slbum! And that video…amazing! Too bad about DC but if you disobeyed, you’d no doubt go into labor. Now that you aren’t going…well you know how that usually works but I’ll keep my fingers crossed so you won’t be pregnant forever!
Ah so sad about DC! I missed you in Baltimore but planned to go see you in DC. Obviously you and the baby come first, but I was wondering how you were going to get down to DC at 37 weeks pregnant! I’m still going to make the chocolate pb brownies from the book I was going to bring…but now my boyfriend and I will have to eat them all ourselves. Darn…
haha i think about it now and i’m like… why did we think i would be able to do this at 37 weeks?! it seemed like no big deal months ago when planning it but now it seems utterly ridiculous that i even thought it was possible! physically i feel like i could do it but who knows. please enjoy (a million) brownies for me!! :)
I cannot believe you were even thinking about travel. You are too nice to us!
Not sure if I’ll do it again for Thanksgiving because it makes a ton for just two of us, but I made Indian pudding for a work potluck tomorrow. it’s a New England treat and so easy to make.
And I was born in ’82, so I get the whole 80s and 90s child thing. Because I was still only 9 in 1991!
To the ‘dessert at Thanksgiving’ question – I’m still pondering what pie to make. I have relatives who are bringing the traditional pies, but I’m cooking everything else (aside from the turkey…that’s my dad’s territory) for the third or fourth year. Is it twisted that it’s one of my favorite days of the year because I get to cook SO MUCH food?! Ok, maybe a bit. Anyways, I’m thinking about making one last pie to add to the pie spread, thinking something different (maybe a tarte?!) and need some ideas. If you have any pie suggestions to spruce things up, would love suggestions!
Those sprinkles are absolutely gorgeous even if they fell.. as long as they look cute, right?! The cookie-topped oatmeal just about blew my mind – those gorgeous photos too! And I’m making salted caramel pecan pie for dessert even though we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving (I’m British!) … any excuse for pie!
Do you still watch Nashville?
I was watching it this weekend and kept having this feeling that the woman playing Sadie reminded me of someone… Then just now I realised it was you! :D
yes yes, adore nashville! and that is too funny… thanks!
I have to tell you that your sprinkle photos always brighten my day! I loved rainbow jimmies when I was kid and they make me feel like one when I see them :)
Sorry to hear about the DC trip – here’s hoping the little human will make an appearance asap!
My SIL made a baked oatmeal when we were visiting and I was stunned. Stunned. I love your basic, garden variety oatmeal and this one had cherries (she lives in Ann Arbor, MI) and all sorts of good fruits!
Stay home and nest! I’m surprised your doc let you travel so much, mine said absolutely NO flying after 28 weeks and only very short car trips (a couple of hours). I don’t have any complications at all and she’s fairly young and hip, but I guess she’s just conservative?
I’m also loving the new TSwift so please tell me you’ve seen Robert Taylor Swifrost
http://www.buzzfeed.com/isaacfitzgerald/robert-taylor-swifrost?bftw=main
I refuse to contribute Thanksgiving dessert while my 91 year old grandmother is still alive to make her annual pecan pie. Even if it’s a little more of an “adventure” as she gets older, I will eat as many as she can still make!
OMG I can never decide if I’m an 80s or 90s kid either! It drives me batty. Every time I see a quiz/factoid/random FB post I’m like “yes!” and then quickly “no! wait, what about the other decade I love as well?!?! What am i?” I’m glad I’m not the only one =)
O.M.G. You’re going to be a mom NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!! I can feel it, it’s gonna happen. I guess when we don’t get any emails from you next week, we’ll know why!!!!!!
Good luck, we’ll all be thinking of you and praying and waiting to see pics!!!!!!
So sad you won’t be coming to DC next week. :( I wanted to thank you in person for introducing me to the wonderfulness of the Josie Maran coconut water eye shadow! Hope the baby gets here soon!
Also, I caved yesterday and bought the T. Swift album to motivate me to clean the house. Ah.Ma.Zing!!! Cant stop listening to it.
i’ve wanted to start watching affair! i will definitely do that now that you’ve recommended it! xx

SCANDAL <3!
Yes, it's snowing where I am. Today's the first day actually. I woke up and I'm like NOOOOOO! But I'm also from Northern Ontario (Canada) So we have basically 8 months of winter. It's awful and is basically consistently -20.
Sigh.
Jessica
I was so looking forward to meeting you in DC, but I completely understand! I hope you’ll come at some point in the future, but I know you’ll have your hands full for a while :) Sending hugs and positive vibes from Virginia!!!
It’s not too early to start planning for Thanksgiving: I’ve already made and frozen two of my desserts: an apple pie with a cinnamon roll-type crust and apple crumb cake topping with a homemade salted caramel drizzle and a pecan pie cheesecake with chocolate ganache. The next one is key lime pie. :)
I have JUST started watching True Blood (I know, I know, SO LATE) but my bf wanted me to watch it so I did and OMG I NEED TO WATCH THEM ALL RIGHT NOW AND NOT BLINK. but that name… Sookie… why?
Okay so when can we start talking Scandal?! And do you have a giant crush on Jake/Scott like me as well?! It brought me back to my years crushing on him in Felicity.
