Tuesday Things.
1. Um. How incredible are these candy lipsticks? That is the most creative brain.
2. Okay. I know I just mentioned this a few weeks ago, but really. Does anyone think that autocorrect has been more out-of-control than usual? It’s trying to correct almost ALL of my words. Have to good. Good to food. Whaaaaaat to wheat. Omg to one. Maybe it just wants me to stop talking like a 13-year old? Yeah probably.
3. Ugh. The internet, texting and everything else has just murdered me grammatically. It’s so horrifying and now I’m all “but wait, what’s a comma?!”
4. This. How successful people work less and get more done. Looooove it.
5. In sad news for Tuesday things but good news for my brain, productivity and life library, I didn’t watch any TV shows this week. I can’t get into the Bachelorette at all. Uh but let me just say one thing. If I never, ever, ever see a preview for The Whispers again, that would be great. I am petrified of those previews. No. Just no.
6. Since I’m rediscovering life a little, I’ve been back to reading so much more. I’m going to jump on the trendy bandwagon and read The Girl on the Train. Will I love it? I’m half tempted to audio-book it because I will probably finish it sooner that way since I can listen while I work/recipe test. But that’s never the same as reading. You feel me?
7. 29 things 90s teen girls did in the summer. Oh my gosh almost every single one. No, these will never get old for me.
8. My macbook updated to the newest version of iPhoto and I totally loathe it. You’d think with all this constant changing technology I’d be cool with it but nope. Still hate change. Halp me.
9. I want some house plants! I need some house plants. What kind of house plants should I get? Will I kill the house plants? Some easy house plants please. Can I buy them online? Could I be any lazier?

I’m probably the minority. I did not like Girl on the Train at all!
For the iPhone thing, I went into keyboards and shortcuts and for all the things i know autocorrect will stupidly correct, I put it in as “food” = “food” or whatever. so it won’t ever autocorrect to good. also with curse words..that rhyme with ducking ;)
You and me both! I think that was one of the worst books I have read in years – I hated every single character!
The girl on the train is amazing! Definitely read the book, such a better experience than listening. Spider plants are really easy to take care of and they are really good at cleaning the air. You can also water root any babies it produces and make more plants!
I have a fiddle-leaf fig, specifically because I think the leaves are pretty. I’ve heard they’re moody but mine is doing great with very little attention. It gets a LOT of indirect sunlight (it’s in a west-facing room in my house where it’s SUUUPER bright and warm, but it didn’t like being right in front of the window so I moved it back a little) and I water it once a week-ish.
I did like Girl on the Train, hopefully you do to! I think when you’re trying to get back in to reading you need some easy ‘wins’ so to say…fun, quick, pageturners. Both Wonder by R.J. Palacio and Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell I read in one sitting this week. I would definitely recommend them!
Wanting to read The Girl on the Train! I’ve never read an audiobook before, but I am getting into podcasts while walking/running, so that might be a similar way to get information. I couldn’t stay away from the tv all week, good for you!
And I still wear a toe ring, is that bad?
If you can’t get into the Bachelorette, maybe try the new Lifetime show UNReal? It is amazing.
Don’t read girl on the train. Just dont. I felt like it was such a waste of my time. Maybe just not my type of book.
If you read Gone Girl and liked it, then you will like Girl on the Train. I have read both, was totally caught up in both of them, and now have vowed never to read a psychological thriller again cause I have wayyyyy to active of an imagination.
Aloe plants are pretty easy to take care of!
Yes, very much yes to #9. House plants would be so nice. I also want a garden but we live in a condo and I have a brown thumb. Sigh
Seriously, no more scary kid previews. Ugh, with you there.
I recently started amping up my house plant inventory. Rubber leaf trees and Fiddleleaf trees are good indoor plants, as are some indoor palm trees (Got mine at Home Depot)
you can also never fail w/ Ikea plants because those puppies are born and raised in a factory…they’re practically indestructible! (within reason of course)
I echo your house plant sentiments!
totally with you on “the whispers” previews – they scare the crap out of me!
I loved The Girl On The Train!

Pothos! They are like the easiest plant to grow. I water mine about once/week or when the leaves start to droop a little. I’ve had them for 3 years now and they’re still alive!
My auto correct has been super annoying lately. I don’t know what is going on but I’m glad i am not alone. I am with you on The Whispers. I usually like creepy things but I can’t even watch the previews for this. I haven’t heard of The Girl on the Train but I will definitely check that out. I’m always looking for something new to read. I can’t focus on audio books at all. I really wish I could because I have a good commute to work but I zone out when I’ve tried to listen.
House plants: Fiddle leaf fig! I got ours at Ikea 2 years ago and it’s grown 3′ taller instead of shriveling up and dying within a week of entering my house. Pros: It likes dim light and infrequent watering. Win/ win.
Omg I hate the new iPhoto too!! I was so used to the old one and this version is sooo difficult to use. For some reason it won’t let me drag and drop into WordPress now? I don’t get it. Also, love that 90s list!
I have a new version of iPhoto too! But, I don’t know why, the name changed in Photo. This is so strange! We live with a lot of technology changes. That lip balms are amazing and so creative!

UGH! The Whispers previews were freaking me out too! My husband thinks it is now hilarious to walk around and then quietly say “the whispers” to me in a weird creepy voice. NO! That and that show with Ryan Phillipe about the little boy who is killed? NO THANK YOU.
I read Girl on the Train for my book club – it was well written, but I have anxiety and I was in the middle of an extremely stressful time at work and the book is written from the perspective of an unreliable, paranoid narrator – so it sort of just fueled my anxious mental state and was definitely tainted for me. Maybe under different conditions I would have liked it better. :/
I’m so with you on the horror movie commercials and ads online – how do I opt out?!?! that crap gives me nightmares.
UMMM.. those lipglosses are the cutest things ever and I wish i would have seen them before ordering my shower favors, which are SO much more boring than those!
Also I think you will like Girl on the Train. And it might be fun to listen to as an audio book if they read it with British accents since I tried to read it that way in my head… also houseplants: always ivy. Or a philodendron. They can live through anything.
Succulents, Chinese evergreen, spider plant, lucky bamboo…
zz plants for low light. The only plants i’ve ever had luck with. available at home depot even.
I loved The Girl on the Train! Since you love the Gillian Flynn novels, you should like this.
Get bamboo for house plants! They are literally indestructible. My cats attack them, knock them over, and I forget to water them. Some how they are all still alive. Lol.
OMG I thought the autocorrect thing was just ME! It gets old having it do every word and I start to question if I’ve forgotten how to type. Half the time I just give up and hope they can decipher it.
Also, a houseplant that is awesome and needs very little water or sunlight is called a Z plant or ZZ plant. They are impossible to kill and grow somehow :)
LOVED Girl on the Train. Definitely a good read.
1. I HAAATE the new iphoto as well! I tried googling how to get the old one back but it looked too complicated hah
2. I totally am listening to The Girl on the Train audiobook–love it because..ACCENTS! lovely British accents. The plot itself isn’t what I thought it was going to be and I am undecided on how I feel about it at the moment :)
OMG with the autocorrect lately. I tried to send a message to my husband that our friends “J and Lisa” were on their way, whcih corrected to “Jalapeno and Letters are on their way.” That’s been making me giggle all week.
LOL!
I didn’t care for Girl on the Train. I found it insanely boring! Especially after the craziness of Gone Girl.
No thank to the whispers! It almost came on last night after I finished bachelorette (guilty. I love it. The guys are insane) and I almost freaked out.
My autocorrect has been crazy lately! I’m not a fan…. :(
You should watch UnREAL on Lifetime. It’s a fictional show about the production of a Bachelor-type show. It just premiered yesterday and it’s SOOOO GOOOD.
I did not like Girl on the Train at all. I found it both boring and frustrating at the same time! I just wanted to slap the main character.
Houseplants: I have kept both Pothos and Jade plants alive for 5+ years. Just make sure you don’t keep a jade plant in direct sunlight or you’ll burn the ‘leaves’. I just water both of them once or twice a week and they do just fine. I recently got a few Snake plants (aka Mother-in-Law’s Tongue), which are low maintenance, low light (perfect for bathrooms!) and are supposed to help purify the air.
I loved Gone Girl and really liked Girl on a Train – it didn’t have the “what the crap?!?!?” middle or ending of Gone Girl by any means, but it was good and I always suggest it to people.
That 90s list is soooo true! I loved my jelly sandals so much! And yes, I’m so out practice with spelling because of autocorrect!!
It seems like I’m in the minority but I had a really hard time getting into The Girl on the Train! I loved Gone Girl but have really struggled to warm up to The Girl on the Train–I don’t think it is that similar to Gone Girl at all! I am about 60% done with it and I feel like it is just starting to get interesting now. Hopefully you like it better!
Peace/Easter Lillies are easy house plants to maintain, put it near a window but not straight up in the sun and water about once a week or biweekly. Dumb cane is also pretty resislient. I REALLY forgot to water that plant and it’s still going!
If you are looking for a fun read I just got Mamrie Hart’s book, You Deserve a Drink. She’s a youtuber and each chapter has a cocktail recipe to drink along with the story! The stories are all mostly outrageous, TMI and raunchy but I found it so hilarious and nice to read on the patio this past weekend.
I reccomend succulents and cacti as house plants. They are super hardy and come in all sorts of fun shapes!
House plants – spider plants and philodendrons. The Girl on the Train was really really good. Takes a bit to get into it but don’t give up! (The only thing that annoyed me for awhile was that she did a serious lot of drinking.) Also, don’t do the audio thing if you can manage it.
I have said the same thing about autocorrect since the last update!!! It corrects every single word I type…and corrects them to the most ridiculous things!!
Haaaaate The Whispers! Who the heck is watching that scary crap?
I have found it takes a few days to convince myself to watch The Bachelorette, but so far have been pretty entertained when I do. Something about this season just doesn’t seem as good though.
The follow are easy plants to take care of; even if you have a black thumb. Devils Ivy and spider plant. The wandering Jew is a little picky but still easy to take care of.
Following…sorry
I did the audio of The Girl on the Train and LOVED it!!!!!
I don’t think you can beat succulents for easy house plants. They are so pretty (there are even pink ones!) and they only need watered once in a while. Very low maintenance :)
I don’t have any experience with plants (see previous comment about how my poor suffering basil plant) but was wondering if you had seen this post? http://www.buzzfeed.com/mallorymcinnis/thyme-to-garden?utm_term=.ouMW9kndQ&sub=3728463_5284490#.uxzpPgPnJ
I loved Girl on the Train, and I recommend listening to it on audiobook. It’s read by 3 different women for the 3 characters, and that makes it very interesting to listen to and easy to keep track of who is telling the story in that particular chapter.
I’m a fan of philodendren and mother in law’s tongue both of which are great in any light. With the philo you can also cut trimmings to sprout in water for making more plants.
OMG yes auto-correct has been out of control for me too! I get the food to good and all of those but the most annoying one for me is changing car to cat. I have cats and must have talked about them too many times because now I am in the process of car shopping and buying a new car but all my phone keeps telling people is that I am cat shopping lol.
I just updated my MacBook as well and also completely loathe the new iPhoto. And my work computer just got Outlook 2013 and that is horrendous as well. New is not better when you a,ready had everything set up just the way you liked.
