Tuesday Things.
1. Just how much is this wrinkly sheet under these flowers DRIVING YOU CRAZY?! It had a purpose, I swear.
2. Where has this no bake s’mores chocolate crackle cake been all my life?! What in the world.
3. Um, totally meant to share this last week but did any other James Taylor lovers see the Jimmy Fallon seesaw skit? Spot on. I die.
4. I kind of want to change up my currently crushing on posts on the weekends. One of my biggest flaws is that I only do things I love and once they get stale, I’m like, meh… I’m done. That worked REAL well for math, science and anything in school that wasn’t english or lunch. Oh and the summer course I had to take in college called C++ or whatever that was called. I’m going to figure it out! Also I owe you a Max update and a baby faves. Are you still into those? What a weird spot I’m in! I’m in a glass case of emotion.
5. All I want in life is to grow and inch or two so I can chicly wear a jumpsuit. I have tried so so so so many and they’ve all been a massive fail. Jumpsuit fails unite.
6. I STILL can’t get into Orange is the New Black this season. Eddie has given up completely and he loved the first two seasons. I’m on my own and struggling to get through. Whyyyyy. I hate when I stop liking my favorite shows. Did you see the new teaser for The Affair? I can’t even wait!
7. I turned on Dances with Wolves last night because it was on TV and I had a bajillion photos to edit. My brothers and I were obsessed with the movie when we were kids. Um, it’s kind of terrifying and violent at times. How did I sleep at night back then?
8. Here is another incredible house in northern Michigan and I’m freaking over it. Uhhh look at that bar!
9. We have a huge bunny that lives in our yard. Yes, it lives in our yard and I’ve claimed it mine. Max and I look for it everyday and watch it. How am I now this person?
10. What are you making for the 4th of July?! I want a big s’mores trifle. Pass me a recipe!

I just sent that house to my husband I am DYING I love it so much. The perfect mix of mid-century and true rustic.
OITNB, eh, let’s just push through it together. I only have two left. I hate Piper’s storyline. It’s just so lame.
You muuussstttt power through OITNB! Final three episodes were awesome, and I watched the Season 3 finale on Sunday and I’ve literally been making my husband rehash it with me every day since. The final two scenes.. YAAASSS!
I generally HATE when people comment on blogs to be all “NEVER CHANGE!” and the whole thing turns into a page from a high school yearbook but I adore your Saturday posts. I’ve found so much good stuff through them. If you do change them, would you consider doing a favorite links page or something so we don’t lose track of your delicious discoveries? Pretty please?
And yes to Max updates. Max is always a good idea.
thank you!! i’m so glad you like them – i’m still going to keep them as a linky thing to my favorites, just trying to maybe spice them up a bit? i don’t know! but thank you – i want to hear if people are enjoying them/bored with them!
Not trying to be rude or disrespectful AT ALL (!), but just since you asked, I always skip right past the link posts. I really enjoy your favorites links more (for example, your makeup favorites) if you write about why you like them vs the Saturday post that just says “Gah!” or whatever.
But to Katelyn’s point — more Max please! :) Especially photos! I could eat him right up.
thank you!! i love how you put it… “gah!” – bahahah.
Out of all the blogs that come into my inbox, yours is the one I like the most! ALL of your posts! I almost always click on every one of the links. If it doesn’t interest me, I bypass it. You make me chuckle with the things you say and to me, you’re an inspiration! (And I’m well past my mid-fifties! ) As for Max… YES…more please! Watching him grow and change brings back so many beautiful memories for me when my kids were little (and I had twins!). Pictures of him and you as a new, proud mommy always makes me smile and brightens up my day!
Dances with Wolves was the first time I ever saw any sort of male nudity (Kevin’s butt) and I was totally hooked. On the movie… of course.
bahahaha me too!!! i’m pretty sure we would pause that scene. kids are weird. ha!
Yes please to Max updates and baby faves! Due with my first 3 weeks from tomorrow so I’m all about the baby stuff <3
Oh, and just a little friendly input on the Saturday posts – I typically ignore them. The only time they’re useful for me is if I’m searching your blog for a recipe and there happens to be one on your posts. They never bother me, I just don’t really get much from them.
:)
thanks carrie!!
I definitely love your Saturday posts because always inspires me for a new fun recipe or check out another blog that I have not seen before. But I do know whatever you change up could be great as well!
Just started OITNB and feels more depressing than usual but at episode 4 its starting to get good so keep watching!!
Always love to see Max- such a smiley one :)
Yes please always to baby and favorites posts!!! I alllllways read the currently crushing on posts, and LOVE LOVE LOVE makeup posts and just random wordy posts are my jam. Hope I’m not in the minority here! I guess I’m one of those people that doesn’t really come to your blog for the recipes but love everything you got! xoxo
thank youuuu kate!
Firstly, I don’t have a recipe for s’mores trifle, but I think it should use this: http://www.crazyforcrust.com/2015/06/marshmallow-whipped-cream/
Also, I really like your “Crushing On” posts, but I’d be open to something new. Do what you love. Also, can’t get enough Max cuteness.
I LOVE your posts about Max! I have a 6 month old, so I also love reading your baby faves! I found your blog while I was preggo, and it’s perfect–food, babies, and other fun things! Thank you!
I think it is a good idea to switch up the Currently Crushing On posts! I have been a reader of yours for a few years now and while I read all your other posts, I always skip CCO :/ I know that it is just a bunch of links and I prefer Tuesday Things so much more! Just a little honest feedback — I am a huge fan of yours!
I like it when other bloggers do the “reading/playing/wearing/watching/etc” style posts. Elise Joy and Ann-Marie have good examples of this!

<3
i love this idea too! thanks sarah!
What about music posts or day in the life of? and PUH-LEASE more Max!! I check every week. I’ve been trying for one for 18 months with no lock so I like living vicariously through others.
i don’t think i could commit to weekly posts like that at the moment, but i would love adding stuff like that in! i just wonder if it gets too repetitive with my tuesday posts and 1-2 monthly life update posts?! and thank you for reading – i’m so glad you enjoy them. sending some love and luck your way!!
I thought I was the only one who couldn’t get into season three of OITNB. Ugh. It saddens me that I am in no rush to watch the whole season :(
At 4’10”, let me tell you what doesn’t fit: EVERYTHING! Jumpsuits? No way. Maxi dresses? NOPE. #shortpersonproblems #ishareyourwishtimes2or3
I hate to be a cliche but season 3 of OITNB sucks EXCEPT for Ruby Rose! We almost gave up many, many times!!
agreeeeed!
More Max, all the time, please! He is adorable!!
And, more honest feedback, I almost never read the currently crushing on posts either. I’ve found a couple of good ideas through them in the past, but mostly rely on the blogs/writers/sites I follow for things.
Thanks for all you do-I love your recipes-I can’t wait to try the new potato salad you posted :)
Not a huge fan of the CCO posts on Saturdays…Maybe if there was a better “preview” of what the link went to. I don’t like constantly being sent away to other sites to see things i may not actually care about :) Other than that, I love your blog…especially the Tuesday Things. I think I like the more “personal” side of it…oh and like most have said…so many more Max updates!! :)
I miss your Wednesday posts from last year. I always loved hearing your viewpoint on different topics. I agree with some of the other comments that I love your lifestyle write ups just as much if not more than the recipes. I’m sure it’s tough coming up with stuff every week but maybe even every other Saturday we get a fun (or not, depending what’s going on) Jess topic? And yes. More max. He’s always fun.
ugh i agree! i miss writing them consistently – i hope to have more time to do that when max gets on a more predictable schedule!
OMG speaking of bunnies… have you SEEN THIS?! http://inbedstore.com/blogs/news/17884948-wake-up-with-katia-tilvie
I died. I literally died. Couldn’t even handle the cute. <3
helluuuuu jessica! i read every word from each of your posts. i usually check every single day, but also kinda like it when i’m backlogged and i can read a handful in a row! i just love ya! what i love about the ‘currently crushing on’ posts is that most bloggers don’t post anything at all on the weekends, and i know that you’ll always have some goods for me to look at during my weekend loungings :) plus, i’ve discovered so many amazing food blogs via your links, but you’re my OG go-to gal!
and max is ze best. i would love to see more pics of you guys together :)
I love your Max updates – bring ’em on! And I feel the same way about OITNB…I didn’t even finish the first episode (yet).
Omg, I bet that cottage smells amazing!!! The wood paneling, so many windows, northern Michigan is the best!
I love your weekend favorite posts! :)
YES TO THE MAX POSTS. And beauty faves. and food + fun faves. and basically YES to ALL your posts because i am seriously a crazy person because I read every single thing you post. (Even baby faves, which is just ridiculous since I am not planning on having children any time soon. Yeah, that’s how much I adore you/your blog.)
OMG I NEED that crackle s’mores cake! But where can I find golden syrup!? And what are rice bubbles!
I love your blog. It’s the only blog I’ve consistently read daily for years. I love that recipes. And wordy life updates! And Max. Keep doing your thing!
I lived near Lake Leelanau in Michigan for a year. Northport is such a fabulous town. I highly recommend flying into Traverse City and touring the entire area. It’s like being on an ocean but it’s a lake. It’s really amazing.
Ok, I absolutely LOVE the Currently Crushing On posts. To me that only thing about them that’s starting to feel like they might be stale to you (but not me!) are your little side comments. But I have to admit that I look forward to the posts every Saturday night after I get home from wherever….And I find things through you that I’d never find elsewhere. I rely on them!
….and…I might be the worst person ever, and Max is as cute as the bunny in your yard, but I feel inundated with kid photos most of the time.
I also have a bunny, we love to watch for him. I like your Currently Crushing On, sometimes I love the links, sometimes
they’re meh, but that’s ok. I like to discover new things through other sources, & that’s where you come in. Either way, just do you, & I’ll follow! Love your blog!
I *LOVE* your Saturday posts! I think that they’re fantastic, and you pick such good recipes that I wouldn’t normally come across. NEVAH CHANGE (Just kidding – do whatever you want, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the posts!)
BUT – I’m dying to make your blizzard, but wanted to know if I can make the vanilla no churn ice cream without bourbon? DYING! Thanks!
YES to Max, all the Max, all the time – love those updates and wish I had written my own (our babes are about six months apart!), so I love reading and remembering those times. YES to crushing on posts – maybe just need some new sources of inspiration? Love finding those new things.
Long time reader, rare commenter, but happy to chime in and tell you that I just love your honest writing style, the frequent posts, and generally all things about your blog. Unicorn sprinkles 4-evah!!!
LOVE LOVE your Currently Crushing posts!!! Please don’t stop sharing those.
And love hearing about Max too. More postings about him would be most welcome! (those facial expressionz!!!!!!!)
Thank you so much for the shout out lady! And you should know that that Michigan house is ki-hillling me! It’s gorgeous.
I read your currently crushing on RELIGIOUSLY every week, AND make at least one recipe from it every time!! You have the BEST taste and introduce me to so many new recipes (and I love and make a lot of yours too….creamy Cajun chicken at least twice a month plus any time I have a girls night!)
Hi Jessica. I love reading your posts, but I agree with some of the CCO comments. Is there a way to maybe have a picture of the item you’re CCO instead of just a link? That way we could see it and then click the picture if we like it? Or am I just making stuff up that can’t be done? LOL I do that sometimes.
As far as the s’mores trifle, I was like “is that real?” So I had to google it. And it looks delicious. Except I’m not a big pudding person (it’s a texture thing). But I did find this one (http://www.momendeavors.com/2013/06/brownie-smores-trifle-dessert.html) that has brownie chunks in it too. It sounds crazy good!
Oh and do you take the pictures for your CCO and Tuesday Things posts? I love some of them and am always curious if you’ve taken them or if they are from another site.
I like the COO posts to find other recipes that I may not have seen before.
Can’t wait for the MAx update. Be on the lookout for baby bunnies because when you see one…there are more to follow!
I LOVE your Currently Crushing posts…I made the cilantro lime chicken last night and it was the best! You bring so much energy to all of your posts…whatever you do, I am in!
More MAX updates please!!
I love your Crushing On posts as they are but am totally open to new stuff. Max updates are always welcome and although my baby is now 4, love to see what the current faves are on all the helpful gear! As for S’mores Trifle, here is a link of a recipe I’ve used but tweaked. I either make the brownies from scratch or cut up the two-bite store bought ones. I also use real whip cream rather than ‘topping’ cuz I’m a bit of an OCD kitchen purist like that. Enjoy and keep up with your awesome posts! http://www.momendeavors.com/2013/06/brownie-smores-trifle-dessert.html
I love jumpsuits…but they dont love me back :( I am 5’3″ and I just dont see jumpsuits in my future. Le sigh.
More Max updates, please. he is the cutest!
OITNB- i personally loved it. And it gets better towards the end. Its a little more sentimental and emotional this season. But the last episode- i can watch it again and again. Loved it! fight the good fight, jessica!
I love the Currrently Crushing posts and have discovered lots of other delicious blogs that way – especially since you were the first one I ever read! And the only one I still read daily.
But on OITNB, my boyfriend and I are watching this season verrry slowwwly… since it doesn’t come for another year, we are trying to make it last. I keep hearing that the third season is the best though, so I’m surprised to hear you say that you don’t care for it. We’re only four episodes in so far, so I don’t really have an opinion yet except that I hate Piper and Alex. Lol
I love everything you do! But you already know that ;)
Most useless feedback ever? Probably.
Adding another “yes please!” to the Max updates. Your Tues posts & the Wed/ Fav posts are my favourites (apart from the baby ones, which I love as I have a 7.5 month old & may be slightly baby obsessed). I agree with another commentator that the posts read better (to me) when you’re explaining why you like something or relating them to what’s happening in your life etc (but I appreciate that those obviously take longer to write/ prepare and aren’t something you could fit in weekly). I love your blog!
I usually skim the CCO posts and every now and then discover a new blog from them, but they’re not my favorites…those would be the monthly fave posts (beauty and other stuff), on life lately, and definitely the Max posts, which is kind of funny because I don’t have kids and don’t plan to, but I think Max is maybe the cutest baby in the history of forever and I love seeing his funny expressions and reading your observations/insights into being his mom.
The Affair! YES! Such a sad many months when there is no Pacey in my life. I think I read that it would start in the Fall. Not quite specific, but at least I’m not on pins and needles all summer thinking I’m missing it.
I’m currently looking for a new apartment but all I’ve found is a bunch of houses I can’t afford. I feel your pain. And of course, one too many sleepless nights searching “Nantucket Rentals” thank you Elin Hilderbrand.
Yes please to all things Max. I would probably use the CCO links if there was a clue of what was going to be there but I just skip them now. Love your blog.
More Max is always okay. i’m at least a year from starting to think about kids, but i love hearing about everything.
Currently Crushing On isn’t something I got out of my way to read (unlike recipes or tuesday things, which i read usually day of posting) but i will go through them, usually during the week sometime when i’m bored at work. i like seeing other bloggers. i don’t have time to be online alot, so its nice that you filter out a chunk of good stuff i should be seeing for me.
I was digging the Wednesday stuff, but I get that your schedule is crazy right now.
basically, if you change things, i won’t be upset, and there’s very little you could do that would make me stop coming back.
That house is amazing! We lived near their suburban detroit home for the past 5 years and I made sure to include a trip by it on all my running routes – especially when ben affleck was staying there! My husband and I wanted to be their friends so bad!
Yes on the Max updates.
I like you CCO posts and have found other food blogs that I love from them.
Trifle is my favorite and so are s’mores so here you go (a no recipe recipe)
Chocolate cake or Brownies
Marshmallow vodka infused vanilla pudding (not instant if you want the alcohol to cook out)
Crushed graham crackers
layer together: cake then pudding then graham crakers
top with a a few toasted marshmallows
Though for my family right now s’mores dip can’t be beat.
