October Favorites: Beauty.
Hey hey October!
SO.
I’ve kept my distance from sephora since the VIB sale is in just another week. In fact, there is an obnoxious number of products in my online cart and I’ll need to narrow them down before the sale. What do you have your eye on?? The first thing in my cart that I mentioned last month is the Tom Form Noir Pour Femme. I’m out of my signature Bond No 9 West Side (fave!!) and probably won’t get it until Christmas. I think I’ll do a post on what I pick up from the sale? I’ve never done that before and last year I didn’t get much. But this year!! My list is strong. On it: some of the Sunday Riley skin care (thoughts??), the new Fresh cocoa body scrub, Tatcha dewy skin mist, Glam Glow lip treatment (plus one or two masks to replenish) and the BIG maracuja oil.
This month I’m not using a ton of new stuff, more like oldies but goodies. These fall shades… so much yes.
Oh oh also, I am freaking LOV.ING that Oribe dry texture spray. I went out a few times that required done hair and it is seriously the best. Definitely the winner from last month!
But now this month’s faves:
Essie Wicked. I might be a fan because of the name, but this is the perfect not-black-but-almost-looks-black shade. You know? I’m super pale so a black polish can look really bold (in a not-so-great way) on my hands. I love that this has a hint of red/burgundy.
Zoya Yuna. Looooove this color so much. It’s like blue but grey but green with a hint of gold. Super pretty.
Smashbox Always Sharp Liner in Violetta. I wore this almost everyday last year and it is a great purple shade without looking bright and… purple. Kind of like purple cabernet, if you want to be all 2015 about it. I like wearing this when I wear a little more makeup on my eyes because it’s less harsh than black. Is that today’s theme? Whatever.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. Sure, it smells like chocolate, but these colors all just work together for me. I really love the Naked 3 palette and all it’s pinks, but this palette has a better shade range and I can find everything I need in it for one look.
Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Balm. Don’t know why I’ve never used these before!! They are super moisturizing, just like their regular lip balm. How I’m enjoying them: I put them on a few hours after my matte or liquid lipstick is wearing off and when my lips feel like they may dry and crumble to pieces. This keeps the color going a bit and feels so good.
NYX Butter Gloss Intense in Spice Cake. OMG. This color. It is GORGEOUS for fall. I fell in love with the butter glosses year ago and exclusively used them for months on end. This intense version feels just as good but is a bit trickier to work with since the color is bright and glossy. I’ve been using a pink-nude liner under it.
NYX Liquid Suede in Tea and Cookies. This is a new product I grabbed in Ulta and it is much more comfortable than other liquid lipsticks I’ve tried (cough cough Anastasia cough) – but I’m always putting lip balm under it. It’s matte but not severely matte if that even makes sense. I also bought a super bright pink (similar to candy yum yum, of course) and it feels just as good. And IÂ haven’t experienced these flaking off or balling up.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution in AfterDark. I KNOW. This is like the third month in a row I’m talking about this shade. It’s definitely my new MAC Rebel. I think it is slightly darker, not as pink as Rebel. Stunning and super October.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black. This scent reminds me SO much of fall because I bought it during the sneak peek release two years ago. I am a warm/amber/vanilla/musky scent kind of person and this is all that. I love it layered with other scents too because it isn’t super strong.
Tarte Exposed Blush. I didn’t think I’d bring it out this year but… ugh, there is just no comparison! This is such a wonderful shade all throughout the year, but it’s really great in the fall if you want to wear a dark or bold lip. It just gives the best natural flush to your cheeks. Life long fave, right there. (P.S. I really need to stop saying “JUST!”)
Sephora Rose Eye Mask. These days I’m up for anything that makes me feel pampered. A few years ago I used the Glam Glow eye masks, and while I don’t love sheet masks for the face, I love these ones that stick right under your eyes. I can’t say if there is a HUGE difference since I barely get any sleep. But it’s the thought that counts?
I feel like I’m finally back in a groove with a little daily makeup and some nighttime looks, even if I am still occasionally in zombie mode. I’m also loving straight coconut oil on my skin and cleansing oil to get all the makeup off. What are you going crazy for currently? What’s on your holiday list? I feel like there are more holiday kits out than ever before. And don’t forget to tell me what’s on your VIB list, you bad example, you. (psssst. you can find all previous favorites HERE.)
{as usual, none of this is sponsored and all of these products were purchased by me. i am not affiliated with any of the companies above, nor do i accept free products. just love to talk about what i like, makeup junkie to makeup junkie. there are a few amazon affiliate links above. thank you for being here!}

My VIB cart has tata harper’s rejuvenating cleanser and the verso super eye serum. the glamglow kits are always tempting. gahhhh.
i’m in love with the one love organics cleansing oil (http://shop.oneloveorganics.com/products/vitamin-b-cleansing-oil-makeup-remover), but I’m curious which one you use!
I am in LOVE with Beautycounter’s Nourishing Cleansing Balm! It can be used as a cleanser, make up remover, over night mask, sun spot/acne treatment, diaper rash cream (what?!) and I even put it on our 14 months old little red nose when she had a cold! This stuff is incredible and has clinically proven results to hydrate the skin and brighten skin tone!! I would totally send you some to try but I just read you don’t accept products so I thought I would just fill you in! ;) here’s a link to read more: http://www.beautycounter.com/skin-care/cleansers-exfoliators/nourishing-cleansing-balm.html
Why did you remind me of the VIB sale?!! There goes another paycheck! I need to stock up on my favorite Nars concealer and some hair products. I love the Bumble and Bumble line, and they just started carrying the Drybar line here so there are a few products I have my eye on!
Monica – Mocha and Moccasins
I love these posts! I need that Tarte blush. I need to stay away from the Sephora sale, but I got theBalm cosmetics Meet Matt Hughes lippie in my Ipsy bag and I am OBSESSED. It is the perfect shade that is like my lip color but better. I am a lifelong fan – which probably means they’ll discontinue it immediately!
I can’t believe it’s VIB sale time already! I’m going to stock up on First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream and Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser – my two skin staples. I’m also tempted to give in to the hype of the Oribe Dry Texture Spray…
I recently got the Glam Glow lip treatment. It’s A-MA-ZING. Best lip treatment I’ve ever tried!!! I have some Glan Glow masks on my list for the VIB sale… thinking of also getting the Laura Mercier eye palette, the Tarte holiday blush palette, some new Too Faced melted lipsticks, and need a new eye cream that I can’t seem to decide on. Yay for the VIB sale!
Do you know the dates for the VIB sale? I haven’t seen anything yet and actually emailed Sephora the other day to ask and they responded that they don’t have the dates yet.
Oooh so smart to prep your cart ahead of time for the VIB sale! I always end up rushing to the store and desperately trying to remember all the crap I wanted to buy. (And PS: I’m so excited that you mentioned the Burt’s Bees balms because I have been on the fence about those for weeks now. Totally going to pick up one now.)
OMG and I JUST was realizing how I need to stop saying “just.” Editing your own blog posts will really point out your bad habits. (Mine are “just” and “so.” Barf.)
Loving these products! Tarte Blush is amazing! :)

I got my sephora card 2 days ago…the sale for Rouge members starts next Friday. Already hard at work on my list. Amy mentioned that she wants Ultra Repair Cream…just an FYI, you can get 4- 4 ounces jars for $36 right now on QVC. They have a number of the brands that sephora sells. On my sephora list: Algenist eye balm, it absorbs really fast & I don’t get greasy, shiny around my eyes from it. (Unlike the rest of my face). Want to try a new flav from Josie Maran in the mini body butters. Marc Jacobs Eau so Fresh, Buxom pout out loud set, Algenist anti wrinkle set. I think I have a problem:)
I picked up some of that Pixi glow tonic from Target you had on your last beauty post and I LOVE that stuff, it really helps with the mild acne I have. It cleans your skin really well without being drying. Thanks for the recommendation! I love your monthly beauty posts!
I’ve been wanting to try that Too Faced chocolate bar palette for ages!

Uh, I’m doing the exactly the same thing with my Sephora online cart! I have some thinking to do about narrowing down before the sale haha. That being said, I am LOVING the glam glow lip treatment. It really does live up to the hype…my lips have never looked smoother. Plus you get a ton of product and the results from each treatment last awhile. And you should do a haul post from the VIB sale…I’d love to see what you get :)
Would be so curious to know if you ever use Birchbox…have you tried it? Do you like it? Just signed up for my first one!
Essie Wicked is 100% my go-to! I’ve been dying to try that Too Faced palette too!!

I’m in love with all of your choices this month! I get what you mean about the colours being tricky. My fave lip liner is urban decay ozone lip pencil. It’s white but goes on absolutely clear so can be used under any lip color! It works just as well as a coloured lip liner but is much more versatile :)
I really like the MAC holiday collection this year( the last I was so fond of was the snow globe ones in like…2011? 2010?). Really digging the purple pigment and glitter mini set and the tiny cool and warm lip palettes(didnt get the viva glam one, didnt need to restock). Also–for some reason I feel like they are more reasonably priced this year than I recall in the past few years. #I DontWorkForMAC #ButTheyCouldPayMeForSpittingPraise
I’ve heard good things about Sunday Riley! I love the chocolate bar palette from Too Faced. I have the MUFE 15 Artist Shadow Palette, Sephora Favorites Superstars, and a NARS blush in “Gina” on my list.

Oh man, my Sephora cart is going to grow a little more after reading this. Yes, please do a post on your VIB purchases! I have embraced midnight blue eyeliners this Fall. They are my new favorite thing! I ran out of night cream and started using maracuja oil. Like, whoa!
I’ve been adding–and then getting sticker shock–and subtracting from my Sephora cart for a couple weeks. Definitely want the Marc Jacobs mini lipstick kit, the Sephora pro foundation brush, the Sunday Riley power couple set since I’m dying to try it…but also intrigued by the Drunken Elephant skin care set. Decisions, decisions! By the way, try the Tatcha rice enzyme exfoliating powder…it is amazing!
