Tuesday Things.
1. My mom made this old school chocolate whipped cream frosted cake over the weekend and it was ridiculously good. Like so ridiculously good that I think it was demolished in 24 hours.
2. Question of the day: how badly can I crave this peanut butter and jelly cookie tart?
3. My ultimate mom fail so far: came home on Saturday night and realized I’d been wearing two different earrings the entire night. Both studs, but one was easily triple the size of the other. HOW?!
4. Do you have a favorite pair of headphones?? Or I should say earbuds. I’m not looking for over-the-ear headphones (I have a pair of Beats) but ones that don’t kill the insides of my ears if I wear them for 30 minutes. Maybe I just have abnormally small ears.
5. Speaking of things that go on your face, I lost my most favorite pair of sunglasses ever ever. I’ve never lost sunglasses before and I know they have to be around here somewhere (unless I left them at lunch one day? WAH.) but it’s making me insane. I’m so boring that I might end up ordering the exact same pair, I love them so much. (< the wildfox catfarer deluxe. love!)
6. My super inspiring friend Nicole started a podcast and you can find my (what I’m sure is horrifically embarrassing) interview here! Listening to your own voice is a special kind of torture.
7. We just watched Billions last night and it’s easily becoming one of my favorite shows. Like The Affair and Homeland worthy. What did you think of this week’s episode? And Super Bowl halftime thoughts? I love Bruno Mars (like, love so much that I still often youtube his first halftime show which in my opinion, was the best EVER) and obviously love Beyonce, and really like Coldplay too… but was fairly underwhelmed? And we all know that I’m one of those people that always loves everything. Worst critic ever. I did love all the neon though. Of course.
8. Always so inspired by Tracy’s weekly meal prep. It’s so REAL and legit.
9. Are you eating anything exceptional for Fat Tuesday? I totally forgot that it was Fat Tuesday until, well, right now! What should I make?!

Bose earbuds! Had a pair for years and then they went through the wash…whoops. I have another pair and the $100-120 investment is so worth it. Comfy, cute, and last long. They come with a cute carry case that fits in your purse which is nice.
I AM SO WITH YOU. Bruno Mars’ first halftime show blew me away, and we also STILL watch that on YouTube. When he got picked for that, I was like: Whhhhy??? I had no idea how phenomenal of an entertainer he was until that halftime show. Not that big on his music, honestly, but his dancing and performance skills? In love. Incredible.Â
There’s a YouTube version of this year’s halftime show that cuts down to only Bruno and Beyonce, and we probably watched it 50x this week. It’s amazing when they are not diluted with Coldplay. I like Coldplay, but not there… My S.O. is *determined* to learn Bruno’s footwork. Lol.
I LOVED your podcast interview and I feel like your interview is so much of the YOU I read on your blog. Thank you for the glimpse! And I HATE my recorded voice too.
I got a pair of Yurbuds for xmas, and they are awesome. I have never had a pair of earbuds that fit in my ears, so when I saw the Yurbuds marketed for use while running/biking I thought I had to try them. The sound is great, and they don’t fall out of my ears!
They also come with a carrying case, they have magnetic quick-click in the buds so they stick together for storage, and the fabric cord doesn’t tangle. Can’t say enough good things and they are not very expensive either! TRYYYY
I’ve always hated earbuds.  I do actually have tiny ears (I wear a hearing aid on one side, and it’s literally the smallest ear size they offer) and earbuds just HURT!  Especially those stupid Apple ones that everyone loves. haha  I bought myself a pair of MPOW wireless Bluetooth earbuds for Christmas (to use for running), and so far so good!  They seem to stay put and haven’t hurt yet.
Do you think your mother would be willing to share her recipe for the old school chocolate cake?
Hey pixel, your mom’s cake is amazing?? Are you going to post the recipe?? That would be great!!
As a compensation, I’m giving to you this another one:Â https://thehappiestpixel.wordpress.com/2016/02/10/vegan-chocolate-mudcake/
Thank you, thp
I love the Jaybird earbuds. They are having a 30% off sale until 2/14 just use JBLOVE16 at check out. They come with a bunch of different size bulbs that go in your ears so you can find the perfect fit. Â I have been using them for years now, I love them. That is a gorgeous cake by the way and I just love your blog, you’re amazing. Â
Yes a million times over to having to listen to your on voice! Like nails on a chalkboard, it seriously makes me cringe and I’m always looking around at everyone else apologetically like “I’m soooo sorry that THIS is what you have to hear when I open my mouth, thanks for still being my friends!” I’m 28 years old and I’m pretty sure I sound similar to Dorothy Zbornak on “The Golden Girls”…and yet she still sounds far more dainty and feminine!
I just started a job with 20% travel, and I splurged on Bose noise-cancelling ear buds. They’re *incredible.* But your jaw will hit the floor when you see the bill. Just be ready. Worth every cent, however.
And…you should make semla for post-Mardi Gras fun. They’re a delicious Swedish pastry with lots of almond and cream, delicious!
I have tiny ears too! i have a pair of sony ear buds that come with three different size buds. i need to use the smallest size.Â
