Frozen Cherry Cosmos.
I would drink this even if it didn’t taste good.
LOOK at the colors!!
I’m your cliché and yes, even though I already tried the starbucks pink drink, this is the only pink drink that I want right now.
It’s better, if I do say so myself. Because vodka.
So here’s the thing.
I have never been a frozen drink girl. I mean, maybe when I was about 13 and just oogling the fun drinks that my mom and aunts would order on vacation. Sure, I wasn’t drinking them, but doesn’t a strawberry daiquiri just SOUND fun? Beach pictures, a frosty pink drink – it’s like your favorite scene out of the best chicklit you read when you were 15 years old.
Or your dream drink while you’re watching The Intern for the 35th day in a row (thank you HBO!) because everything Nancy Meyers writes turns to gold.
Not sure how I know that.
Perhaps I just really love all of my cocktails on the rocks because I’ve never taken well to food at extreme temperatures. Super hot or super cold never appeals to me.
BUT.
A few years ago I made these frozen coconut mojitos. I was seriously hooked. I was knee-dip in cookbook recipe development at the time and I STILL remember the exact day I made them and how refreshing they tasted. I had something like an eleven day headache at that time and the frozen moj cured it right up.
The secret to the fabulous color here AND the flavor? Cranberry cocktail ice cubes! Drizzle some cranberry juice cocktail into your ice molds the night before and you’re good to go for happy hour.
The flavor is intensified.
The color is super bright pink!
These make you happy to simply look at.
Cranberry juice is probably my least favorite juice when tasted alone, but I do love a splash in cocktails here and there. Mixed with the tart cherry juice (which is probably my FAVE! – I love this brand), it’s so wonderful. Tart but sweet, with a hint of lime. Sharp from the vodka and the grand marnier reminds me sliiiiiightly of a margarita but without the mind-numbing tequila.
And so pretty that I just want to hold one in my hand all day. It’s not wrong.
Frozen Cherry Cosmos
Ingredients
- 2 cups cranberry juice cocktail ice cubes
- 1 cup regular ice cubes
- 1/2 cup tart cherry juice
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/4 cup Grand Marnier liqueur
- fresh cherries for garnish
- lime slices for garnish
Instructions
- The night before, pour cranberry juice cocktail into your ice molds – you want enough to get about 2 cups of ice.
- To make the cosmos, blend the cranberry ice cubes, regular ice, tart cherry juice, vodka, lime juice and grand marinier together in a blender until it’s slushie-like.
- Pour into glasses and garnish with rainer cherries and limes.

Pink drinks for the win! Although I still haven’t tried the Starbucks version. I’m actually going to be at the airport tomorrow, and I was all ready thinking to myself “oh I’ll hit up the Starbucks at the airport and get one of those things I’ve been seeing everywhere”. Ugh. I’m such a weird planner. This frozen concoctions sounds fabulous. This + pool is what I need right meow!
