Tuesday Things.
1. Kitchen remodel update: we will never be remodeling anything again in our lifetime. HAHAHAHA.
2. Are we over macarons yet? Because I will never be! They are a texture lover’s dream.
3. How awesome are these 15 minute healthy-ish easy lunches/dinners? Adrianna is my forever girl crush.
4. I think I’ve said it every year, but coachella is my worst nightmare. Keep in mind I am generally very boring, old and have the music tastes of a baby boomer. So there’s that.
5. Currently reading Alec Baldwin’s memoir since I have that weirdo crush on him ever since It’s Complicated, aka one of my favorite movies. Seriously, am I just secretly a baby boomer inside? I mean, even his character in that movie shouldn’t exactly make me like him. Anyhoooo, spoiler alert: I’m still in the first third of the book and it’s a bit confusing and wordy to me. And if I’m saying that? Oh boy.
6. Are the rumors true that Starbucks is really releasing a unicorn frappuccino this month? While I want to be excited, if it contains any raspberry or cotton candy flavors… I’m totally out.
7. What the HECK with the GIRLS finale. Right? What did you guys think? I get the whole “this is regular life” thing but it was so uneventful for me and like an excuse to use the nudity warning as much as they could, ha. Last week should have been the real finale. And ooooh Billions? Based on the previews for next week, I can’t wait to see what happens. P.S. did anyone stay up and watch the entire Ten Commandments on Saturday night? I used to love doing this when I was a kid.
8. My favorite Easter present that Max received might just be the 64 pack of crayola chalk from Target. He has really gone through the 48 pack from last year, and like the excessive millennial that I am, I figured WHY NOT a 68 pack!? I don’t know how we survived without violet-red on our driveway.
9. Super interesting: instagram still isn’t snapchat. I still prefer snapchat, but never use it because (I forget and) instagram is so easy all in one app.
10. Magazine junkies unite! I’m in need of new subscriptions and wondering what your favorites are? Food and others.

I love Billions!!! (Even though I don’t always understand what’s going on…) Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis are brilliant. I really think Giamatti deserves an award for this role. I went through withdrawal after last season’s finale and am not looking forward to the end of this one.Â
I think unicorn food is kinda pretty but I just can’t eat it. I also love love love macarons, but I just can’t with the weird colors. I want vanilla, coffee, chocolate, caramel, – that kind of thing.
Renovation is a huge pain (mine always took months longer than expected… hope yours finishes ahead of schedule!)
ps The Easter pictures of Max were delicious! I can’t get enough of this child – and he’s not even mine! So much fun watching him grow up.
Oh – I love Instyle Magazine. It seems to hit a lot of buttons.

Most random question – but do you follow Matt Crump on Instagram? I have a sneaky feeling you would love it.
This is what the web says:
According to the Starbucks announcement, the “blended crème is made with a sweet dusting of pink powder, blended into a crème Frappuccino with mango syrup and layered with a pleasantly sour blue drizzle. It is finished with vanilla whipped cream and a sprinkle of sweet pink and sour blue powder topping.”
And it’ll only be available April 19-23.
favorite magazine – In Style!! And It’s complicated is quite a classic! My life totally mimicked the movie for a while there which made the movie even funnier to me lol.
What even is Coachella? All I know is that it’s in the desert and people don’t seem to wear pants?
Felt the same way about Girls. Just, meh. But the rest of the season was so good! So I’m going to forget about the finale and pretend the previous episode was the end.
TOTALLY AGREE with you both on the girls thing.Â
Magazine favorites = Oxygen, Food Network, O (Oprah), Fortune, Forbes, and Town & Country.
Definitely felt the same way about the Girls finale! Even watching the “After the Episode”, where Judd Apatow explains that they wanted episode nine to be the high point and then the last one to be more her coming down to reality. I did die laughing when Hannah’s mom walked in on Marnie and then Marnie came out dressed like a pioneer girl because she was so horrified. Hahaha. Hannah walking around giving her jeans to that teenager girl though….stressssfullllllll. But at least we got to see Shosh off in a way before the season ended, I guess!
Food Network, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine!

My fave (indie) band was playing at Coachella but I was like, nope. NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE. I do not own shortie shorts (or any shorts for that matter) and do not like sweating, standing for excessive periods of time, did I mention sweating, overpaying for things, or really loud sounds. (Oh hi, I’m secretly 100) They have a live-stream. I watched the 30 minute performance from the comfort of my couch while playing with the flower crown filter on snapchat.
GIRLS: ah, I get it. I understand why that was the finale. Hannah had to have the motherhood epiphany after spending 28 minutes being pure Season 1-5 Hannah, it was just…boring? I was waiting for her to give the baby to Marnie and just peace out.
Girls – I’m at this really weird, grouchy place in my life where dealing with my almost 1 year old and with both parents working 60-80 hours a week is dragging me down HARD so watching Hanna try to be a mother by herself is just irritating to me, so yeah, I hated that episode. Like, no, you won’t be able to do that alone with no help.
TBH, I just wanted her to decide to give the baby up for adoption in the last episode I KNOW I’M HORRIBLE.
I’ll crawl back into my trash can now.
Can we high-five from our respective trash cans?Â
Girls finale – nope, didn’t like it one bit. I’ll forget it ever happened. (I’m with a couple of the others who commented – I was thinking (hoping, wishing) she would have given him up for adoption.
Alec Baldwin is my older man crush. Love him to pieces and not exactly sure why. He’s just amazing to me. In all things. Even his bad boy phase. His podcast this week got turned around on him and he’s being asked the hard questions – so good. I’m on the library waitlist for his book (didn’t want to spend my own hard-earned money on it quite yet).
My favorite magazines right now are Oprah and Real Simple. I just subscribed to Cook’s Illustrated. I have a subscription to Food Magazine, but I guess I’m not that spectacular of a cook to want to try any of their recipes. A lot of people are recommending In Style. I gave that up a couple years ago – WAY too many ads. Literally 85% of the magazine is ads.
My favorite mags are O and Real Simple too! Coastal Living as well for the gorgeous photography.
Also, can we talk about how weird it is that Facebook has “stories” now, too? I mean, is that really necessary seeing you own Instagram!?
My favorite magazine is Mingle. Â I love the party inspiration.Â
hey girl- great list! I love magazines and my favorites are Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Living! But I do also subscribe to Woman’s Day, Family circle and HGTV mag. Oh we can’t forget Magnolia Journal so cool!
I love your posts and recipes and I agree. Â The finale of Girls was horrible!!! I expected so much more!!!!
The best cooking magazine is Cuisine at Home. There are no ads – just recipes, hints, and tips. And pictures, even step-by-step pictures sometimes! It’s much more expensive than other magazines but it’s because they don’t have ads they’ve sold space to. The recipes are awesome. I’ve subscribed to them for YEARS. My favorite all time recipe from them is a veal meatloaf (can and have used other meats). It’s so rich and delicious (even if I use ground beef or chicken).
Oh, and I love macaroons!
I hear ya. Im never doing a kitchen renovation again either. It would have been much easier to move!!Â
GIRLS…OMG! I was thinking of you while I watched knowing full well that EVERY VIEWER was going to be disappointed. I kept telling myself that it could not possibly be the finale. Certainly I was mistaken… Only Marnie & her mom made the finale… WHAT?!?! No Eiljah or Adam. So bummed… I do, however, see a reunion show in their future.
Garden and Gun magazine! Beautiful photos, unique southern food and cocktail recipes, and the good dog stories at the end are the best!
Fine Cooking is consistent and really great for inspiration!
Get the Texture App! $9.99 a month gets you hundreds of magazines. We really like it. I believe you can use it on up to five devices so my husband and I both get to read all our favorite magazines. No more mags lying around and cluttering up the place. I like to read on my phone and tablet. John reads on his tablet. So easy and convenient.
i totally agree! my cell phone company gives it to me for free some reason and its amazing. i used to either waste money on magazines that i then couldn’t bring myself to throw out or else I just wouldn’t buy them because seriously, $14.99 for a magazine? Â So texture is awesome. Plus you can read back issues. Love it.Â
I hated the GIRLS finale until I read the recap on ManRepeller then I had an enlightenment and moved on. I think the hardest part for me is the “change”… I have enough trouble dealing with the change in my own life – having babies, living in the suburbs, eating tacos 3-4 times a week because it’s easy (wait, actually, no that’s okay) and never seeing our friends because we are busy buying furniture or adhering to nap schedules on weekends. I’ll probably re-watch GIRLS again at some point because I miss my 20s. I also should add that I don’t have a single friend who likes the show in IRL so I always look forward to reading what you think.
I love Live Happy magazine. Â It’s really positive and fun. Â I tried cooks illustrated last year and didn’t love it.
I love your quick-dinner suggestions, they are all things I adore (all the greens, chicken, low-carb) BUT tell me – you have 1 and a half men in the household (like I do, Magnus is I belive 8 months younger than Max). HOW DO YOU GET THEM FULL? I make salads with all the toppings, they demand MEAT. Low carb? My son starts snacking on pretzels the second he ̶j̶̶u̶̶m̶̶p̶̶f̶̶s̶̶ ̶̶o̶̶f̶̶f̶ get off his high-chair. Can you do a special on “how to feed the starving crowds without becoming a 300-pound woman?”. I love food and I eat a ton but since I lack self-control in any way (hi! 18 hours of Netflix). Thanks a lot Jess, love your blog! Sabrina
