Tuesday Things.
1. I don’t know why I can’t pack like a normal person. I make lists and I still overpack and it looks like we are leaving our house with… well… our entire house. Or I severely underpack (even with my list!) and end up wearing the same thing!
2. Possibly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted: a pistachio croissant. Blows almond out of the water. Oh how I wish I had the patience to figure this one out at home. But thank god I don’t.
3. HELLO cookie dough ice cream sandwiches. I just can’t. OMG.
4. Years later, it’s still one of my favorite weeks: shark week! Except I forget year after year about how fake and boring and sci-fi it is now.
5. When you feel all sorts of toxic emotions, you can turn them into something positive? Innnnteresting.
6. Can we please talk about the Southern Charm reunion?! I’m all caught up and I watched the reunion and the love around Kathryn made me so freaking happy! Can’t even wait for Thursday night. Now do I bother watching the other versions of the show?
7. The perfect feel good routine. Yep. Going to need a vacation from this vacation.
8. Speaking of, I’m having the hardest time trying to relax on this vacation! Which is kind of exacerbated by worrying about how I’m NOT actually relaxing. It’s a super fun cycle.
9. You have unlimited funds but only for housing. Where would you buy a house?

Unlimited funds for housing? Hawaii. Not even a need to think about it.
And I am thinking about packing fro our trip that starts on Friday. Thinking about it apparently means reading blogs, looking for books to load on my kindle and drinking coffee.
And I always overpack my own clothes and then wear the same weird outfit the whole week.
Chatham area on Cape Cod, MA Our most favorite place.
OMG me too! It’s beyond gorgeous there.
If I gloriously had unlimited funds for housing, I would own a full brownstone here in Brooklyn, have a house on the beach in Malibu and a country house in upstate NY. I am the worst over packer, it’s embarrassing, especially wirh shoes.
In America – Historic New Orleans home in the Garden District. My dream is walkability. I love the idea of a brownstone in NYC but I am such a southern weenie about the cold. Plus New Orleans still has a decent cost of living since I don’t have unlimited funds for everything else!
In the World – I haven’t traveled as many places as I would like, but I would love a brownstone/ walkup in Paris. For all the reasons I love New York, but better carbs and less harsh weather.
I feel you on the packing thing. I always pack WAY to much or too little. I have the trouble relaxing on vacation sometimes too. I don’t know why. I think its because I always feel like I should be doing something. I am going to try a little harder to relax on my vacay coming up. If that last sentence even makes sense! I would buy a house on Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire. The views are always so breathtaking. Plus there is something about the air up there that is just amazing.
Yes! Lakes Region of New Hampshire is wonderful. Lived here for 50 years. Wouldn’t live anywhere else. Close to seacoast, mountains, Canada, airports. Truly a perfect location. I ❤️ NH
From our recent trips, I would have to say the East Coast (I mean I live in Virginia BUT not coastal and coastal VA is not CT or Maine…). However, I’ve never really traveled overseas – so maybe I would want to live in a different country, but I feel like I can’t pick a place I’ve never been to and experienced. If the funding was unlimited for housing, then I would probably have multiple houses in my favorite places!
I was watching Shark Week at the gym yesterday – initially flustered that Discovery was airing CSI NY like usual – but I guess sharks are a good alternative. I was getting really nervous then realized, well, they aren’t very well going to let Bear Grylls get eaten by a shark.
I’m going to Europe for 5 weeks in Sept/Oct and bringing….a carry-on. The packing list of only absolute must-haves is out of control, and everything matches everything else.
In the states I would buy s beach home with a wraparound porch on St. Simons Island in GA; but it gets so damn humid in the summers that I like I’d love a cabin in Northern California for the summer. In Canada, hmm, maybe a home in Kitsilano, BC and a cabin in Banff, AB. The mountains are my second home but sparse and I think it would be hard to live in a mountain town with one grocery store all year round.
I just got back from a 4-day camping trip for which I packed about 12 outfits & 4 pairs of shoes. On day 3, my boyfriend asked if I had a different sweatshirt because he hadn’t seen me in anything else (except I had 2 more–surprise!) Most everything in my bag came home unworn. Whyyyyyy.
my packing my overpacking/underpacking is on a new level. I hate myself.
Unlimited funds for housing, Italy for sure.
If I have unlimited funds, does that mean I can buy two houses in different places? I’d probably go for Oxford and then somewhere warm in winter… maybe somewhere in California?
I can’t relate to your packing woes, I’m pretty excellent at it. #notsohumblebrag But I can relate to not being able to relax on vacation. Mostly because most of the times I’ve traveled, I was also trying to get work done and it was kind of important, so it was really hard to switch that on and off.
i havnet traveled enough to properly answer this question but my fave place i have ever been is southern jamaica so i would buy there ! but i also love me some NYC. what this tells me is i have to travel more. on these trips i am like you i will pack poorly even though i have a list. my issue is i suck at determining what i should wear for different types of weather.
I’ve gotten much better at packing over the years. I plan my outfits ahead of time and lay them on the bed by each day. It really helps me pack less and then it also takes the stress out of what to wear each day when I used to pack just random tops and bottoms.
1.) I pack 5 suitcases for a 4 night trip. No shame. I’d rather be overprepared than underprepared.
6.) Stick with just the original Southern Charm – trust the Bravo fanatic over here.
9.) Top secret.
I just returned from Japan…I totally overpacked /underpacked!! ! Haha! That said, I’d move to Japan!!!
Oh my goshhh I can so relate, am on vacation right now and feel like packed my entire house except the things I really need. *facepalm*
I would NOT buy another house. I’d just rent a villa in Italy for a month every year. (Does that count as housing?) Or something like that. We already own a house, and a condo that we rent, and property management is for the birds.
YES! On all counts. If I hadn’t just gotten a new puppy (what was I thinking??) I think I would like a condo–at least for a while. Definitely ready to get rid of this 4500 sq. ft. house and huge yard. I learned how to pack for a 14 day cruise/vacay in a rolling carry on and tote that slides over the handle of my carry on. Dealing with a lot of luggage in an airport is exhausting. Plus, after arriving in Beaune, France on my last trip to find out that taxi drivers there only work when they want to (never), I was VERY thankful I didn’t have to haul a multiple suitcases the 15 blocks to the hotel.
I’d have a condo in Chicago and a house on Lake Michigan in Michigan (versus a condo near the Lake in Chicago).
can i buy more than one house?!? hawaii tops the list (obviously), then north shore minnesota, then boston, then dc, then SF, then london. then probably 12 villas in italy. now i just need someone to pay for flying to all my homes, hahaha!
I buy a house in Sedona for sure. Preferably the one that Andy Garcia lived in in the Book Club…what a view. 2nd, Sullivan’s Island, SC (Charleston) near the tide pools and a villa in the countryside of Italy!
Packing/unpacking…very dreaded things. I ALWAYS overpack….enough said. I won’t change that, so just accept it…. I would have a house where it is warm year round, and a house in the NE in the summer for when the south is too hot Locations haven’t been determined yet. We kind of have that already, with my mother-in-law living on a residential beach on Long Island, NY, and my dad living in Aiken SC….
Maui or Kauai. I used to live on Maui and I miss it so much. I’m trying to convince my husband to move back. Unlimited funds for housing would make that decision easy peasY!
If you ever find pistachio croissants in Pittsburgh, please share! I have been craving them since a recent trip across the pond and no where in this city seems to make them :(
I do not think the other versions of Southern Charm are worth it. I tried Savanna and just couldn’t get into it. Felt like a poor replica.
My two cents on the other two Southern Charm series: stick with the original. I couldn’t get into them which was disappointing. But the OG crew has my heart. <3
Maine. 100%. Moody Beach!
Unlimited funds for housing: Oh, the dream!! It’s a toss-up between 1) a cottage in the English countryside, 2) a flat in London, or 3) a house overlooking the water in Stonington, CT (I’ve had my eye on a particular one for years, but it never seems to be for sale. Which is understandable, because I would never move from there, either). But…if I had UNLIMITED funds….maybe I would buy all three. ;-)
Unlimited funds for housing:
1 – Iceland
2 – Outer Banks, NC
3 – somewhere on the side of a mountain in CO

I did not watch southern charm New Orleans but do like Savannah! The first season was good, they have switched up the cast a little bit for season 2. Only 2 episodes in so you could catch up fast!
