My 2019 Winter Reading List.
While this list isn’t as extensive as my summer reading list tends to be, there are still so many good ones on here. Over the last few weeks I’ve sprinkled some of these books that I’m reading into my Tuesday Things posts, but wanted to compile a huge list! I am so glad that you guys wanted to see this list because it really inspired me to add some extras to my must-read pile. And I also realized in doing my research that most of the books I read have been picks in Reese Witherspoon’s book club! I guess I should join that? Ha!
In an effort to stay off of social media and stuff before bed, I’ve been reading so much more and getting through some of these great stories. Let me know what you have read lately below. Or what books are on your current list!
My 2019 Winter Reading List
This Is How It Always Is. Next on my list! I can’t wait to get into this one.
Becoming. Read it. Adored it! I love love love books written by our first ladies.
Every Breath. I haven’t felt drawn to a Nicholas Sparks novel in years, but this one is calling my name.
Bring Me Back. I’ve been intrigued by the write up of this on amazon for weeks!
You Think It, I’ll Say It. I’ve wanted to read this one for a few months too.
Nine Perfect Strangers. Hoping this is as great as some of her other books.
Verity. I adore everything that Colleen Hoover writes!
The Library Book. Super interested in this one. I’m already sucked in.
Winter in Paradise. Loved it, as usual.
One Day in December. Just finished this, it was so, so good.
All I want to do is live under a blanket on the couch, cozied up and getting lost in a story! xo

I finished One Day in December last week and loved it too! Now I’m reading The Good Widow and so far I’m loving it. I tend to get my book recommendations from you, Reese’s book club and Julie from PB Fingers!
This Is How It Always Is was my FAVORITE book of 2018. I finished it like 2 weeks ago and have been telling everyone about it. The writing is phenomenal and the plot is even better. You will love!
Absolutely loved Elin’s first book in the new winter series! I always read Nicholas Spark’s books and really enjoyed that Every Breath is loosely based on a true story and how long he took to write the book – I feel like it definitely showed. I love when you share a compiled book list (definitely just went and requested every single one from my library), I read 40 books last year and this will help jump-start the new year.
I just finished Verity, a definite departure from her usual books, as she notes in the back, but clearly a passion project of hers. I couldn’t put it down, albeit being a little freaked out by it ! :)

Don’t waste your time with Nine Perfect Strangers. It was such a disappointment. I loved all of Liane Moriarty’s other books, but this one was just BAD!
This Is How It Always Is was outstanding! 5-star read for me. Nine Perfect Strangers was entertaining- I don’t think it’s the 5 star that Big Little Lies was, but I still enjoyed it. I know it’s gotten mixed reviews
This is a great list! enjoy
I love that you make reading lists! Thank you! Two books that I read this summer that I think you will love are: Ghosted by Rosie Walsh and Dear Mrs. Bird by A.J. Pearce. One of us is Lying was also really good. All of Reese’s book club picks are fantastic too! =)
This Is How It Always Is Was one of my Top 3 books I read in 2018! It’s sooo good. I’m reading/listening to Becoming now.
I’m reading You Think It, I’ll Say It right now and I love the short story format. It is easy to read one or two each night and it keeps me from staying up too late reading.
I read Nine Perfect Strangers over the holidays and I loved it. There is one character who is a writer and she’s hilarious and breaks the fourth wall a lot – I think you will enjoy it as a fellow writer!
Can’t wait to read Becoming!! Got it for Christmas and planning to crack it open later today. I always read a ton over Christmas break and I just finished Educated by Tara Westover and Ginny Moon by Benjamin Ludwig. Both EXCELLENT, totally different but I loved them!! I actually finished Ginny Moon (which is written in the voice of a 14-year-old autistic foster child and super well-done) in the span of 3 hours. And Educated totally lived up to the hype as well!! I have so many questions for the author. Would highly recommend both!
Are you part of Ashely Spivey’s book club on Facebook? It’s amazing and has really helped me start reading again… I read over 80 books last year and didn’t start until halfway through the year. So many amazing recommendations!!! Always love to see yours as well!
I have Every Breath and Nine Perfect Strangers sitting on my coffee table to read! I am currently reading Winter in Paradise. I already mentioned to you that I finished One Day in December! I’ll have to check out some of your other choices! Thanks!
I loved Becoming! I want to be her best friend. I loved Becoming Mrs. Lewis, too.
Loved loved One Day on December!. OMG I just finished Verity soooo good and a little scary. I can’t wait to read some of your other choices a lot of them are on my reading list also.
I loved YOU THINK IT, I’LL SAY IT. I think Sittenfeld is one of the best writers out there, and she’s really mastered the art of the short story. My review of it is here, if you’re interested: http://www.wellreadtart.com/2018/08/14/review-of-you-think-it-ill-say-it/ .
I recently finished NINE PERFECT STRANGERS. Definitely not my favorite Moriarty book, but it was interesting, to say the least. The near-ending gets a little ridic, and while I know Moriarty books can be that way a little bit, I felt like this one was a bit much. However, it was still a really enjoyable read, and I sped through it pretty quickly.
I am so excited to read ONE DAY IN DECEMBER!! I have heard nothing but good things about it. I’m on the waiting list at my library for that one. I should get it one day in April, LOL.
Love your reading lists! I got so many awesome recs from your summer one :) I just got my copy of Verity and can’t wait to read it.
I recently got back into “reading” (in quotes because I audible!) but with a 45 min commute to work, it’s amazing what I can get through! I’ve read 10 books in the last 6 months and have no plans of stopping! My favorite so far has been Where the Crawdad’s Sing by Delia Owens. I’ve added a few of yours to my list – I’ll be looking out to see your reviews!
I picked up Bring Me Back yesterday at the library. I read the entire book last night!! I couldn’t put it down and finished at 4 this morning!
I loved Bring Me Back! I looked so forward to reading it every night.
I finished Verity over Christmas and it was sooooo good. It was a bit Gillian Flynn-esque mixed with Colleen Hoover’s normal romance. Absolutely loved it!
Thanks for the list. I just finished Nine Perfect Strangers – was a little disappointed as it was not as good as her other books. Listened to Becoming and loved Michelle’s reading voice, very good, Sorry thought the book (someone else mentioned) Educated was extremely disturbing and would not recommend it. I have also enjoyed The Paris Architect and The Other Einstein. I’ll have to add some of your other recommendations to my list. Happy New Year.
Good read…..BEFORE WE WERE YOURS, Lisa Wingate.
You have inspired me to start reading a book a month. But I have kids so I have a feeling I will be listening to audiobooks since they are always saying my books are not cool since they don’t have pictures. I am going to try to read the Rich Crazy Asian series since that has been on my list for awhile. I also like thrillers so I am going to try to read Her One Mistake by Heidi Perks. I am also looking to read The Friend by Sigrid Nunez. I am hoping to read at least one book a month.
what a great list. i got Becoming for Christmas and need to read it. The best book i think i read in 2018 (or at least the best one in 2nd half) was The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. Difficult subject but wonderful book. I just started Little Fires Everywhere in the car last week.
Don’t bother with Bring Me Back!!!! If you haven’t read B.A. Paris’ other two novels absolutely read those, they are incredible, but this third book was a massive disappointment to most of her fans. Wait for the next!
“You think it, I’ll say it” is the only book I can honestly say I feel dumber having read it. In my opinion it was just epically stupid. The short stories go by quickly, but not a single one of them is worth noting. It’s the Seinfeld if books, a book about nothing.
