November & December Favorites: Beauty.
Hey hey!
It’s the best time of the month! I can’t let a beauty faves pass me by.
So I ended up combining November and December since there has been such a time crunch between the holidays. It’s crazy! And I still wanted to share the few things that I’m loving in this season.
Be sure to let me know below what you’re loving! A few things that I mentioned last month that I’m still crazy over? This marc jacobs steeletto palette especially. I also bought the elec-trick palette and it’s on major sale. These are just the perfect size! I’m also considering buying either this hyaluronic serum with my sephora 20% coupon or the skincueticals one. Any thoughts?! I also still haven’t tried the Ordinary version – which just seems too good to be true!
P.S. you can find all my previous favorites posts here.
Here’s a peek at some of my beauty favorites over the last month!
Tata Harper Resurfacing Glow Mask. I LOVE this mask. More so, I love the brush that comes with it! I’ve been using this twice a week and my skin is so glowy afterwards. Really enjoying this one!
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic. A few of you have been telling me to try this for years… and I’m hooked. I ran out of my Drunk Elephant vitamin C and started using this last month. I LOVE IT. My skin feels so much brighter and looks more even. I won’t lie – I do sort of miss the DE vitamin C too?! I might see if I can alternate between the two, especially since this one is so pricey.
MAC Edge to Edge lip liner. I can’t believe I’ve never tried this shade before. I’ve been using it with Creme Cup and I’m in love with it. It’s the perfect shade of cool pink! It also darkens Creme Cup nicely if you want it to.
Laura Mercier Metallic Taupe Caviar Stick. This is EVERYTHING. I’ve used the amethyst cover forever. This is even better and so neutral but so shimmery. Super easy to use too. It honestly reminds me of the glitter filter on Instagram! Haha.
Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser. This was a new purchase for me at the VIB sale and I am loving it SO much that I bought another one already. It’s refreshing but doesn’t make my dry skin feel tight at all. Really love it!
Dior Backstage Body Face and Glow. If you want a highlighter to add to your foundation or tinted moisturizer, this it IS. It’s super liquidy, which makes it perfect for mixing it with lotion, face cream, etc. I don’t use it as a classic highlight right now (though you can!) but I do add it to my moisturizer every morning!
I’ve been using some of the products I bought at the VIB sale, like the Sunday Riley A+ retinol, but I feel like I need to give it a little longer before declaring it a major favorite! I’ve been hesitant to use too much because Lacy’s wedding is coming up and I don’t want my skin to freak out. My favorites tend to be few and far between these days because I am using so many of the same products day in and day out. Mostly because of the stage of life that I’m in, but also because I really love the things I’ve been using!
I’d love to hear what is on your list this month or what you have your eye on for the holidays!
[as usual, none of this is sponsored and all of these products were purchased by me. i am not affiliated with any of the companies above, nor do i accept free products. just love to talk about what i like, makeup junkie to makeup junkie. there are some amazon and general reward style affiliate links above. thank you for being here!]

Re: Hyaluronic acid! As someone who has tried WAY too many skincare products for very old, persistent acne scars, I have found that many of the more expensive ones haven’t been all they’re cracked up to be, sadly– and The Ordinary really does have lots of great stuff! But actually my favorite hyaluronic serum is from a Japanese company. It’s called Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Solution, and I get it on Amazon. It’s got a cult following of sorts! Haha. SO hydrating and a little goes a really long way. I tried so many brands before this one and I think this one is the most hydrating.
omg such great info!! THANK YOU! i’ve been on a the fence about the sturm one but a blogger i really like/trust raves about it. i can’t imagine spending that much is worth it though! okay, adding the ordinary to my cart! :)
The Ordinary is awesome. $300 for a serum?? No way. Nope. Can’t let you do it to yourself. I picked up The Ordinary acid….it’s red. Waiting to try it after Christmas. Didn’t want my skin to freak.
LOVE the Ordinary. I use many of their products together. Ridiculously cheap, but super effective.

Just a FYI…..along with The Ordinary (great value for money and a MUST try over the pricer brands) Sephora also just started to sell The Inkey (which is supposed to be very good line and same price point and quality as The Ordinary. If you want to compare.
awesome!! thank you so much!
This HA is great and it’s CHEAP! https://amzn.to/2r7yp7B I have been using it for about 6 months and absolutely love it. I bought the big bottle and then this smaller one for travel https://amzn.to/34zGOhJ and just refill that one out of the big one. I could easily see it lasting a good 1+ year(s). I found out about this from my lash girl who tries every single product under the sun and both of us love this with great results!
omg!! i’m going to try!! thanks!! :)
I recently tried that Indie Lee cleanser and OMG it is the best, even for those of us with naturally dryer skin! The texture is awesome and it smells delish.
could not agree more!!! it’s incredible!
This may be one of the ones that you are still holding out on to give it more time but I’m super interested to know your thoughts on La Mer! The price point is so high that in my mind it is either 100% worth it or 100% hype. The idea that it could just be ehhhh… at that price does not seem possible although maybe?
ugh. let’s just say i am really not impressed with the la mer original! i have applied it correctly and i just don’t think it’s that great – and i also think it might have broke me out (which is hard to do!). as of right now, i do not love it!
Love The Ordinary products bc I don’t have to worry about different fillers or ingredients that don’t work with my skin. I can pick the serums and oils I want and avoid everything I don’t. The hyaluronic is great…just make sure you follow up with an occlusive moisturizer bc the single ingredient serums do not include them and hyaluronics can pull moisture from your skin if not sealed with an occlusive. Info I’m sure you know and are rolling your eyes at 😂🙄.
love this!! haha not rolling my eyes at all! :) thank you!!
I use Peter Thomas Roth cloud drench Hyaluronic acid and I LOVE IT. In addition to that, there’s a great cloud drench gel cream that is so hydrating, but not enough for the winter. Usually top that combo with primera alpine berry cream. You should follow Grace Atwood of The Stripe, she does TONS of skin care rec’s and is trust worthy. Thoughts on the Dr. Bader cream? Not sure if I can make them investment!
Love these posts, always!!
yesss i LOVE grace!! i do follow her!
i agree, not sure if I can spend on the Dr Bader cream! especially because I don’t want to stop using some of my favorite products?
I can’t believe how inexpensive the ordinary line is! I used to use CE Ferulic and loved it! But that’s when I worked for a doctor and got it at a discount! I’ve been using the vit c serum from Drunk Elephant and love it. I just opened a new bottle and the consistency and even color is different then what I’ve been using. Is anyone else using this and have noticed?
i have used the DE vitamin C for years and also love it! but yes that has happened to me a few times – i’ve heard that vit c can change colors slightly?!
I love to live vicariously through your Beauty Faves posts! Even more so as the posts start to include more and more emphasis on skincare – total skin nerd here!
For hyaluronic acid, I’ve been using this Cosmedica serum for the past several months and it has been incredible (https://www.amazon.com/Hyaluronic-Pure-Highest-Anti-Aging-Non-greasy-Paraben-free-Best/dp/B0090UJFYI) Pretty much just pure HA and water, and I just layer it on my wet (freshly washed) skin and then slather on a heavier cream on top. This month started topping with Vanicream Moisturizing Cream in the tube and love it for the winter dryness, but before that I was using the HA serum followed by Timeless Squalane Oil and it gave me the dewiest glow!
None of those products have irritated my skin AT ALL, which is incredible as I’m on rx retinoid gel to prevent breakouts and treat fine lines and it makes me even more sensitive. And all are suuuper budget friendly and on amazon, so easy/low risk to try.
amazing recommendations! thank you so so much for sharing!
I’ve been using the Ordinary lactic acid serum for about 10 weeks now (since I found out the SR Good Genes has licorice root and is questionable during pregnancy). I’ve been incredibly pleased with it and it is $7….so much cheaper than Good Genes and works just as well with my skin!
I’ve tried almost everything in this post and loved most of it too. I actually went to college about 15 minutes away from the Tata Harper HQ in Vermont, so her products are quite sentimental for me. I used the maelove vitamin c serum and found it just as good as the Skinceuticals (and 1/4 the price), but my number 1 serum love is the Jordan Samuel hydrate serum. I actually love absolutely everything he makes, but the serum is especially wonderful.
I use the SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier and swapped to The Ordinary after I ran out. Went back to my skin care specialist and she explained that it is not a good switch. The percentage of HA in The Ordinary is much less than SkinCeuticals, and SC can actually boost hyaluronic acid in your skin where as The Ordinary just moisturizes at the surface level. I switched back and can say that I did find that SkinCeuticals seemed to do better things for my skin. Worth looking into her advice if you are making the switch!
