Thanksgiving Weekend!
It’s been the best Thanksgiving weekend!
Here are a few snapshots of the weekend.
The kids table is the place to be!
A big plate of sides, the only way to do it.
I mean, how edible is my niece Violet!!!
On Friday we went to Phipps with the rest of the world to see Christmas lights! It was so fun. And crowded.
We decorated for Christmas too.
Since Eddie and I were married for a while before having kids (7 years!), I never cared about having a meaningful tree. Which sounds terrible, but hopefully you know what I mean. Especially because my mom has the BEST TREE EVER and it is full of ornaments with meaning.
It wasn’t until I had Max and realized that I wanted a crazy tree with all sorts of ornaments, ones he made, ones from family, and I wanted to let the kids decorate it however they want. So we did that!
Then I have another tree in our foyer where I put all the remaining ornaments and it’s a leeeettle bit more untraditional. Pretty, but meaningless! Haha.
We also made our first (of probably many, according to Max!) gingerbread house.
It was basically the best weekend ever.
How was your weekend?! Tell me, tell me!

So beautiful!! Weekend was bittersweet. See my tribute highlight on IG.
What a beautiful family! Your decorations are lovely and yes, I want to be at the kids table! I always think that they’re so creative when it comes to making things – no inhibitions at all. They are all SO CUTE!
Your tablesetting is gorgeous. It wants me buy more Makenzie Child’s, lol. I took screenshots of everything. Your kids are the cutest and yes I want to be at the kids table too. Our Thanksgiving wasn’t the happiest through my mom’s been in the hospital and I see you and her end stage COPD is deteriorating. I’ve purchased all the food to cook the meal and bring it to my parents home. But we spent Thanksgiving in the hospital room. Trying to remind myself it’s not about food but it’s about love ones. We haven’t put up a tree yet because I’m so consumed with being at the hospital but I want to decorate this week.
So sorry to hear about your Mom! You could consider bringing some greens/poinsetta into her room along with some music – you can decorate with her, even if it’s not “normal” – we did this as a family on some difficult/odd years, and I’m glad to have that memory.
You trees are beautiful! I was on vacation all last week so it was super relaxing. Decorated the house (3 trees) and really just relaxed. I’m hosting Christmas so it’s game on for planning. We are doing a heavy appetizer and filet and ham sandwich station. Sort of keeping it open house instead of a sit down meal. This is truly my favorite time of the year. *cue song*
Where is your Thanksgiving sweater from? I love the cowl neck!
ugh I don’t know why most of the pictures aren’t showing for me!! Must I contact work’s IT department to fix this so I can look at a thanksgiving post on a food blog when I should be working??? All jokes aside, your family is absolutely precious. I really hope you do a book tour in Canada for your next book tour. A HUGE fan of yours!!
