What I Read In September 2021.
I love sharing what I’ve read so much. And I love hearing what you guys have read! I’ve been pretty consistent in reading three or four books a month since having Jordan. I definitely am missing my heavier book months and haven’t got a chance to read a book in one night/day for a long time. But these ones below were all pretty good!
I still read most at night on my kindle app, unless it’s my books from book of the month. I will read those in the car or on the weekends.
While I’m keeping my reviews here on the blog, remember that you can follow the goodreads account with what I’m reading, so you can see what I read in real time.
You can also join the book club! We have the instagram and secret facebook group here. All of the book club interactions have really been taking place in the FB group!
You can find my reading lists here and previous What I Read posts here. I’d love to hear below what you read this month!
WHAT I READ IN SEPTEMBER 2021
The Guncle – 5 stars
I LOVED THIS. Oh my gosh, it’s just so heartwarming. I had started this in the summer but then I had Jordan unexpectedly early and didn’t get very far into it. So glad I went back to it. The story follows Patrick who ends up as guardian to his niece and nephew for a few months – and all the challenges that come along with it. Oh my gosh this is just so, so good! So funny. You have to grab this one.
The People We Keep – 4.5 stars
This was a good one too! The story follows April who leaves her hometown and horrible home life to find her own way – and ends up in a picture perfect coffee shop town which she thinks is too good to be true. The characters in this book are incredible. April’s story is heartbreaking – that is always hard for me to read when I’m in the postpartum stage. But the ending is worth it, as sad as some of this story is.
Instructions For Dancing – 3.5 stars
This was one of my books of the month from back in the summer and I finally got to it! I really liked this story even though it started out a tiny bit slow for me. But once I got into, I couldn’t stop reading. The story follows Evie who takes dance lessons and meets someone who is her opposite. I loved reading about the dances in this book – so descriptive and the writing was great. The ending just killed me in this! If you read it, you will know what I mean.
Declutter Like a MotherÂ
I listened to this on audio book on a whim. It was great and I definitely took away a few pointers from it! I found a lot of it to be relatable and many of the tips to be realistic – it’s not about major minimalism or anything like that. Lots of chapters on how clutter and too much stuff takes away time from what we really want to do/love. I also related to it with having kids. It was a quick listen and I got through it in less than a week of school pick up line waits!

I love your book lists! This month I read Last Summer at the Golden Hotel, Crying at H Mart, and People We Meet on Vacation!
I keep seeing so many good reviews for The Guncle and really thought I had it on my TBR. I finally gave it and downloaded it along with The People We Keep. I’m going to be staying with my mom for awhile since she just had knee replacement surgery so I’ll hopefully have a lot of time to read.
