A Good Friday.
I have been knee deep in cheese today.
For the last 4 years, we’ve had a tradition of eating lobster mac and cheese on Good Friday for a late lunch. Well, I’ve had the tradition of making it and my dad has the tradition of bugging me to make it. It’s all his idea.
But who can complain about lobster mac and cheese?
I made this recipe after Mr. How Sweet and I had a five-weekends-in-a-row binge of lobster mac at the Capital Grille in 2007. It is probably the most decadent meal on this site, and easily our favorite meal that I make. Soon I’m going to redo the recipe so you don’t have to look at such horrid pictures, but if you’d like to see what a mess I was 4 days into blogging, take a gander. Â Judge me.
Check out this deliciousness that I found at the store today. Why haven’t I seen this before??
It is definitely cocoa-y and not chocolaty, but I love it. I already had some as a snack and it is incredible. Anything to fuel my fig obsession.
Me = food coma.

I may be on my way over right now;-)
I wanna be in a food coma too! Happy good Friday :)
Wow, times are good in PA! ;) Looks great!
Maybe everyone on earth should have lobster mac and cheese on Good Friday — then we’d have to call it Great Friday. Ok lame joke but seriously that stuff looks amazing.
Wow the lobster mac and cheese looks great! Fig and cocoa, interesting I will have to give it a try :)
Good Friday indeed!
Never had lobster mac before…..heck I’ve never had lobster! :P
I did make my very first homemade mac n’ cheese this week…..deelish!
There is some serious drooling going on this side of the screen. I might have to make this… tomorrow.
Yum. I have never made a cheese sauce like that… in a double boiler. I’m intrigued!
FiCoCo? Yum! I also love the Adriatic Fig Spread from Whole Foods! Yum.
Yum! Can I come over for dinner?

most decadent meal on your site AND 4 days into blogging…off to check out that hidden gem :)
I love that fig spread!! have it in the fridge right now :)
so i’m over here in so cal. i’m sure there’s a little gourmet gem around here that carries that mouth watering figcocoa spread…but to make the hunt easier on myself, where did you find it?
Loved looking at your old post to see how far you’ve come since then! Also, lobster mac and cheese is pretty stellar, and this recipe looks downright sinful. Sinfully delicious!
Oh man oh man—this looks pretty darn good!!!i think we need this tradition in our house!!! Thanks and have a wonderful Easter weekend!!!
I’m a HUGE fan of that fig spread. It’s my go-to stocking stuffer at the holidays!
I wish my Good Friday tradition was for you to make me lobster mac and cheese :-)
oh wow, lobster mac and cheese sounds absolutely delicious!!
Anything with figs is amazing! What store did you find it at?
When I move to DC, do I have an open invite to dinner? You should probably say no because I am likely to hear what you’re making and drive to Pittsburgh on the regular.
The figcoco looks awesome – are you gonna bake with it?
Good Friday indeed. Cheese!
I enjoyed reading your old post. It’s so fun to see the evolution of a blogger.
at what store did you find the ficoco? i need to buy it pronto.
I wonder if you can make fig jam. I have a fig tree out front, so that might be where they are going to turn into! :D
I made fig jam last summer. It was (and still is) delicious! My family keeps asking when i’m making more.
I used Ad Hoc’s recipe and i’ll definitely use it again.
Yummm!
Where did you find that fig spread?
I, like you, just discovered how wonderful figs are. Whether a fresh fig, or fig newton, growing up my mother ALWAYS adored them and i thought she was nuts. Now… ok… my turn to be nuts. I love chopping dried figs into my yogurt with granola.
Yum. I adore lobster Mac and cheese. I cant think of a more perfect food. Except maybe for a lobster roll.
I wouldn’t mind being in a food coma after a meal like that!
Mmmm…
Wow. That is one of the most beautiful homemade mac and cheeses I have ever seen. GOOD Friday meal is right.
I’ve looked at that post before, and the photos made me drool. It sounds so wonderfully decadent and full of my favorite things. But I’ve been a bit too scared (and poor) to try it! Maybe soon.
This is indeed a gourmet mac n cheese!
Happy Easter!
Angie
OH.. nommers gourmet mac & cheese!
I had to quickly minimize this page before my fiance saw it… or I’d have to leave the house RIGHT NOW to get lobster and cheese. It wouldn’t even be a question. Maybe I’ll surprise him with it soon, though!
Sounds delish… I LOVE the idea of lobster mac n cheese but have never had it. Someday I hope!!! Have a blessed Easter sweet girl!
Looks delicious! A great tradition! :)
Fig and cocoa?? Yum! And lobster mac and cheese sounds like heaven. I want some in my belly right now.
