1. These are seriously the most insane waffle sandwiches I’ve ever seen. Love so much.

2. Yesterday I made a pie. And I didn’t lose it. Didn’t throw anything, including a plate or a tantrum. Remember when I attempted this THREE freaking years ago? Well I still used Mother Lovett’s recipe but this time… it worked.

3. This combo is my new favorite snack: plain yogurt, dark chocolate, pistachios, mint, honey and oranges. Yeah. Still can’t get over my pistachio fever.

4. I’m dying to get my hands on the pumpkin body butter from Trader Joe’s that you all keep telling me about… but does that warrant a 40-minute drive to the store? I think so. #priorities

5. Majorly crushing on this one. She is probably one of the coolest people I’ve ever met and so darn REAL. I also want to eat every single thing on her blog. Yes, even the vegetables. She loves butter so it’s okay.

6. Coming up later this week is our FIVE year anniversary and last night we both sort of realized that it popped up quickly and wow… what are we going to do to celebrate? I think we really just want to lay on the couch and watch movies. Hmmm.

7. TV thoughts!! Nashville: loving it and my heart is breaking. Oh Deacon!! Eeek. I really like how they move quickly on the show. For the most part, they don’t drag things out and I love that. Oh but can I just say that the flashback of young Rayna and Deacon was… funny. Also, I still want Connie Britton to be my best friend. She is so damn loveable. Oh and Oliver Hudson now?! Um, it’s like my two worlds have collided: Dawson’s Creek + Nashville.

8. As for Homeland, I’m ready to for them to ramp it up. Claire Danes is so insanely talented – even if you aren’t a fan I don’t think that can be denied. I’m really just wondering where the heck Mike (I mean Shane Oman) is. What are you thinking about it so far? Oh and I’m so excited that the Walking Dead is coming back this weekend, except for some unknown reason I feel an attachment to those characters and I’m just waiting to see who dies this season. I can’t take it. I seriously need a life. Detach me.

9. Whatcha reading right now? I’m going to start this book which is definitely a deviation from my usual, but after nudges from friends telling me it’s incredible and my intense obsession with american history, especially presidential history (waiting with baited breath for the killing kennedy special in november (hello rob lowe!)), I think I will probably love it. I actually went in to college as a history major. What?

10. If Karen from Mean Girls had Instagram. I can’t.

11. I know I flaked for the last few weeks of summer but since September I’ve been updating the weekly menu below. What are you having for dinner tonight?

I guess if Rayna and Deacon were to ever really get back together they fear it would end the perpetual suspense. They obviously missed Friday Night Lights where she was married and it worked without being boring. This show is the only thing that made that loss bearable. LOVE Connie Britton too!

We don’t get Nashville in Germany :-((( So, I recently started to watch Dawson’s Creek again. Am now with season 3. I am completely living in this parallel world. Why again did they make Pacey Witter wear such hideous shirts!? And more important: Why again am I from Germany but not born as Diane Kruger?!?!

Did you watch the walking dead season 4 preview? Rick said something in it about “we’ve lost 11 of our own” :’( Also the producer said every character will be taken to their breaking point – I thought they already did that??!! How much are they going to put these poor people through before they kill them off?

Also, I laughed my head off at the Karen IG account. Definitely my favorite mean girls character!!

Have the coconut body butter from Trader Joe’s and love love LOVE it. Next trip I’m buying the pumpkin for sure.

And Connie Britton… I don’t even want to be her best friend… I want to BE her. I’m currently power watching Friday Night Lights for the first time on Netflix and it made me love her about 100x more.

    A. Connie Britton was on What What Happens Live last night – I hope you saw it. Made me fall in love with her even more.
    B. Agreed – Homeland is soo anticlimactic lately. I’m ready for some action.
    C. I might have to stay away from here next week when you talk about Walking Dead, because I missed the whole last season! I’m currently waiting for the marathon this weekend to catch up. Never thought I’d be into a show about zombies…

I definitely agree with you..they need to amp up Homeland, the last episode was kind of boring. but Clare Danes is INSANELY talented..how she acts that crazy is just amazing! i know WHERE IS BRODY..I’m pretty sure he’ll come back next episode! I also think its kind of annoying how they have Dana as such a big role this season..it doesn’t seem relevant at all to the overall show but I guess they have to keep Brody’s family in the show somehow

11/22/63 is definitely a fun read. Read it a few summer’s ago. Now working my way, slowly, through the Game of Thrones series…but trying not too read too fast, as I don’t want to have to wait too long for the next book. (I’ve only just pasted the tv series content in the book form.) Love your Tuesday Things posts. :-)

The pumpkin body butter from Trader Joe’s – ok just to chime in (not sure what you’ve heard) but it does not have a pumpkin scent to me AT ALL. It’s apples. It smells like apples despite their being pumpkin in the title, but it’s pumpkin oil and thus does not smell at all like ‘pumpkin stuff’ normally does. If you want some apple lotion, go to your nearest Bath & Bodyworks :) And if you want pumpkin lotion, the TJs one isn’t it. That said, I do love the texture of it and it feels great, but it’s not pumpkin-ey. Sniff.

Just fyi. But I got a ton of other pumpkin-ey products. Pumpkin waffles, pumpkin bread mix, pumpkin croissants, pumpkin oatmeal….

Not only am I a big Stephen King fan (that’s a great JFK book, by the way – hope you like the whole book!), but I’m glad you referenced ‘Killing Kennedy’ too (great book by Bill O’Reilly; and omg Rob Lowe is a perfect choice for JFK for the tv special, which I can’t wait for either).

I loved 11/22/63 and suggest it to anyone who asks for a book recommendation. While it’s about a man who goes back in time to stop the assassination of John F Kennedy to hopefully prevent the United States’ entrance into the Vietnam War, I don’t feel you have to have a love of history, just great storytelling (and I have a history degree). I hope you enjoy it!

I’m not a horror fan so have never even attempted a Steven King book before, but I am fascinated by the Kennedy assassination so I read 11/22/63. For those who read Steven King, many of his “regular” characters show up, but you don’t need to know they are regulars to enjoy the book. I wasn’t 100% thrilled with the ending, but I’m not sure how it could have ended that would have been satisfactory… the events of that day in Dallas are still somewhat a mystery, right? Go for it. Read it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
