october favorites I howsweeteats.com

Let’s call this FALL favorites, since I skipped September! This doubled up post includes everything I’m loving right now in the best of the basic months. Tell me yours below, of course.

Bark Thins. I am officially OBSESSED with these. Nevermind that it’s called snacking chocolate (hello, health justification), it’s incredibly delicious. My favorite is the dark chocolate pretzel and sea salt.

This giant ASOS blanket scarf. I always have similar scarves in my favorites this time of year, but this scarf can actually be… a blanket. It is huge. It’s almost so huge that it’s difficult to figure out how to wear, so I suggest googling some videos. I adore the plaid and it’s super comfy and warm.

The Affair. It definitely wins for my TV choice this season. It is just still SO good. How is it so good? I think the acting is incredible, the way both sides of the story plays off each other keeps you intrigued – it’s just fab.

These Zara boots. I’ve wanted these since I saw them a few months ago. The chunkier heel makes them (slightly) more comfortable to wear and I love the weird gold detailing. I still prefer a skinnier stiletto heel for looks, but these are definitely more mom friendly – and when I say that, I mean I don’t feel like I’m going to fall on my face while wearing them if I’m holding Max.

I’m currently reading Elin’s Winter Stroll (I adore sequels!!) Pretty much anything she does is my favorite.

These oatmeal muffins. I have no idea why I’m on such a chewy muffin kick at the moment. I made another version of these with pumpkin that I’m going to share, but the plain ones topped with peanut butter and/or jelly are so good too.

My cabernet Madewell transport tote. I love my blush Cuyana tote so much that I really wanted a fall color – the only thing is that the Cuyana version is not very structured and doesn’t necessarily stand up on it’s own. I’ve heard about this one for ages and when I saw the color, I was instantly hooked. I used this in NYC and while I often use a cross body bag, I loved having something so huge for my computer and a few Max-related essentials, meaning we could skip the diaper bag.

Sparkle pumpkins from Z Gallerie! I bought these last year but was so excited to bring them out this year, especially since I missed most of last fall since I was on the book tour! Everyone always asks where these are from and I’m thrilled that none of the beads or sparkles have fallen off.

The Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens. I’ve had this lens since I shot my cookbook, but I bet it’s been nearly two years since I’ve used it. I’ve strictly been using my 24-70 f/2.8 lens which I adore, but it’s huge, heavy and I was inspired to play around with something old but new. I love the blue in the background and feel like I hate photography slightly less at the moment.

On that note, while I’ll always be an iPhone photography girl and with the gorgeous leaves this season, have been going back to the ProHDR app. You can brighten and saturate photos of landscapes so well in this app! Otherwise, I stick to Afterlight mostly for editing and phone photos.

You know I’m a podcast freak, so I’ve been thrilled to add the Man Repeller podcast to my listening list. It’s so good! And I love the guy’s voice who does the interviewing.

Totally loving these Old Navy v-neck boyfriend tees for layering with leggings, scarves and boots. They are so comfortable and cheap.

To be so annoyingly basic: pumpkin beer. I’m enjoying it this season, I am. Still on the search for something that tastes exactly like pie (I mean, why not?), but I think I’m sticking with Jack-O Traveler. And most favoritest of favorites: apple cider margaritas.
