March Favorites: Food + Fun.
More favorites! Here are some that don’t include glittery makeup. What I’m loving this month?
This periwinkle Rebecca Minkoff bag. It’s only the most perfect color that ever existed for Spring. Asides from mint green. I am in love with it and will use it forever. This also may have been the quickest I have ever used a gift card in my life. (<— self proclaimed gift card hoarder.)
2 books! First up, Jane Green’s new novel. Love it. Next, I’ve actually been listening to Heft on the Audible App. Kristen recommended Heft to me back in December and I’ve wanted to read it ever since. The thing is that I barely have time to twiddle my thumbs these days, so on a whim I figured why not try listening to an audio book while I work all day? This is a huge first for me. The app is okay – I’ve had no problems so far but the ratings stink. However, the book is fabulous, though listening to the audio version with the older man’s voice narrating was something I had to get used to.
Cadbury mini eggs and Trader Joe’s peanut butter filled pretzels. In the same bowl. I’m telling you now because Easter is almost over and you can get that stuff on a discount. Stock up.
The Kacey Musgraves album. It’s like Pistol Annies meets… Carrie Underwood-ish? I don’t know, that’s probably a horrible description, but I love it. Also must re-mention the new Blake Shelton album as well as anything by Jana Kramer. Nothing gets stuck in my head like her music does. It plays in my brain for daysssss.
These method almond wood wipes. Basically, I have become so lazy that I can no longer move my fingers to pump a spray bottle to dust. Okay, but really… I love these things. Been using them for a few years and they are awesome.
Sopranos reruns. Ah, so pathetic. HBO has been airing the entire series at 8PM on one of their channels every week night and we are pretty obsessed. So obsessed in fact, that we DVR the episodes and freak out if we miss one even though we own the entire DVD set. Whatever, I don’t care. I’m still convinced it’s real life. Tony Soprano, are you dead or alive?
Burgers. Ugh. I’m in the midst of like, a three month burger binge. Actually, if it’s Saturday afternoon I’m probably eating one right now. Â (spoiler alert: i just did) I want one constantly. And no, I’m not pregnant. What’s your favorite burger? I’m going to make some peanut butter bacon ones. Again – not pregnant.
Anything in the lavender vanilla scent from Yankee. It smells so good. To me, it smells like the inside of an ice cream shoppe. Yes, I said shoppe. With two p’s and an e. Classy.
Iced hazelnut macchiatos. I’m still hooked. At least until I get three fourths of the way through. And no, I haven’t ordered it upside down yet like some of you have suggested. The reason why? I’m concerned it won’t look as pretty in the cup. (so embarrassing.)
Annnnnd that’s a wrap. Anything extra you’re loving this month? I’d love some book ideas.

That clutch is gorgeous. I love that color! I bought my daughter some stretch pants from Target in that color a few weeks ago. I wish they made them in adult sizes! I hoard gift cards too. I always think, well why blow it now. I may see something I like even better next month. Or in 8 months. And all of a sudden I have cards that are antiques.
great picks.. i have my eye on the rebecca minkoff mini mac bag.. i just can’t decide on the color. i love the green, but i think it matches with limited stuff. it comes in so many colors, it’s a hard decision. i’m gonna check out that yankee candle. i loveeeeeeeee your picks.. i so look forward to the stuff you pick.
I love this post! Also love Jane green books .have you tried Jenny Colgan books? Meet me at the Cupcake Cafe was brilliant!hink you would enjoy it. I can’t wait to try that hazelnut iced drink next week as I’m going on holiday in the states :-) so excited and gonna try some sweet tea!! We don’t have these in the UK xx
Cute bag! I like hazelnut, but don’t like anything hazelnut flavored. Weird? They always taste burnt to me. I think you need to do an ask me anything type post!
I love the color of your clutch! You’re right, it’s perfect for Spring. The picture of your Five Guys burger made my stomach growl even though I just got home from dinner. Yum!
I use gift cards like the moment I get them! I wish I held onto them. And I love those wipes too!
What kinds of books do you like to read? I could give you a ton of book recommendations but would want them to be something you would actually read, and enjoy.
OMGGGGG, I want that bag in green! Or periwinkle. No, green! Both?
Super cute bag!!
Gone Girl (obvi), A Prayer for Owen Meany, What Alice Forgot, A Week in December….
I know I’m probably forgetting some books but those are the best ones I’ve read recently :)
I just finished reading The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern and loved it! I expected it to be like Water for Elephants but it’s actually more like Harry Potter.. weird? Whatever. It was awesome. Other great books: The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh or The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I could read those last two books over and over for the rest of my life ahhhhhhh
Book recommendation = “Six Years” by Harlan Coben.
Yes, I love that purse. Bags are my thing. Thanks for the book recommendations. I am in need of a few more.
Beautiful bag! I agree with Kelsey, The Fault in our Starts was excellent. You will find it in the Young Adult section, so your inner teenager should love it. I just started Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple and can’t put it down. It’s a little Gone Girl weird, but I’m hooked. Love your blog!
Love the bag but LOVE the scarf next to it – source please!
Just recently finished two books that I loved! The first was Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty–funny, touching and full of surprises. The other is the latest Jen Lancaster. It is fiction, called Here I Go Again. I love her writing but wasn’t sure about a fiction offering, but I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the suggestion on Jane Green! Dudn’t realize she had a new release–will grab it asap! Happy Easter!
I can also agree on Night Circus, great book! And if you enjoy teen lit (which I love even though I’m 31) you should read Before I Fall. Very good. Can’t wait until tomorrow when I can stock up on sale Cadbury mini eggs.
I LOVE that clutch! Did I ever tell I actually lived in LA last summer and was going to attend FIDM (fashion Institute of design and Merchandising) before switching gears and starting my blog (The LA scene was not me and deep down and new I love food more than fashion) ! I am still a dye hard fashion lover (although, I know nothing about makeup!) so gosh I love when you post these cute purses! I would kill for that clutch!
Tony Soprano are you dead or alive? Baaahaha I laughed out loud for a good two minutes after reading this. You make me laugh, everyday. I know its been suggested, but read Gone Girl if you haven’t already! The end.
I must have house cleaning on my brain because all I can think of is the pack of dusting wipes. Wish the Cleaning Fairy would deliver me a pack today.
Jessica, Happy Easter!
I soooo enjoy your posts! Thank you for all the giggles, out loud laughter and fabulous recipes!
May the Easter Bunny fill your basket with fluorescent colored, Bailey’s Irish Cheam, chocolate eggs!
This is totally random but…. where is your table from!? I’m in the midst of moving/upgrading my furniture and the wooden background in some of your pics has got me intrigued! Thanks!
Book recommendations…..Any novel by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl, Sharp Objects), Lunch In Paris: A Love Story, With Recipes (by Elizabeth Bard)
Love the scarf (?) under the clutch, where is it from?! :)
Book recommendations: “Still Missing” by Chevy Stevens, and a similar pick is “Room” by Emma Donoghue. Something TOTALLY different from these two is “The Art of Hearing Heartbeats” by Jan-Philipp Sendker, Probably the most beautiful story I’ve ever read – plowed through it yesterday afternoon!
Pretty, pretty photos :) the clutch is so cute and that burger looks heavenly!
Another vote for ‘The Night Circus’ – was such a fun read!
Loved “Room,” “The Language of Flowers,” but not sure how I felt about “Gone Girl.” I have Heft on my nightstand. I’m currently reading “The Shoemaker’s Wife.” That may have also been a Kristen recommendation. It’s a beautiful book but its long- like 400+ pages so that would be for your vacation week. I’m looking forward to The Pontoon song of summer again. Did you ever read “The Glass Castle?” Oldie but goodie!
Peanut butter bacon burgers are the best! Throw a spicy cheese on there like jalapeno havarti – SO GOOD!!
Bossy Pants – Tina Fey. She reads the audible version if you want to hear it in her voice. I giggled the whole way through and limited myself on how many pages I would read a day so it would last longer.
I’m reading Jane Green’s latest right now too – really like it so far! Another one I recently read and loooved was The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton, great story. Have also had a major dystopian obsession lately – the Delirium series is especially good.
Have you ever read the Case Histories series by Kate Atkinson? She is an incredible writer.
I’m currently reading Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter – it’s really good. And it makes you want to travel to Italy and drink lots of wine.
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult – LOVED!
“BPJ
Fried Banana, Chunky Peanut Butter Cream Cheese, Jam and Smoked Bacon”
It is from a phenomenal restaurant in Cincinnati, OH called Gordos Pub, but I’m sure you can recreate it.
peanut butter & bacon burgers = my favorite!
Love your roundups. That periwinkle color is to die for. I got a similar one from Gap … love it! Love your food cravings too. Nothin wrong with noshing on multiple burgers (just not all at once)
This place has amazing burgers. Including a pb bacon burger that’s absurdly good. http://www.luckyslastchance.com
Try the Lavender Chamomile line from Bath & Body Works. Absolute heaven.
Me too! I was have an extra bottle of the body wash on hand in case I run out :)
Peanut Butter Bacon Burgers are my favvv we used to live in PGH and on Highland the Buffalo Blues there used to sell one with PB Bacon Muenster Cheese & Fried Banana…omg to die. OH and don’t forget the mayo ;) YUM!
I love breakfast burgers with fried egg, cheese, and bacon on them. Maybe a few tator tots and a maple syrup drizzle to round things out.
Or the signature burger at my new favorite restaurant, with pulled pork, caramelized onions, maple bacon, cheddar, and fried pickles. ON A PRETZEL ROLL. A-mazing.
Would love to see you do a peanut butter bacon burger! I just made peanut butter bacon provolone pizza last weekend and it was fabulous!!
My next book will be American Story by Bob Dotson. Short inspirational stories about everyday Americans.
Hi Jessica! If you’re looking for an alternative/supplement to Audible, your local library might give you access to Overdrive, which allows you to download audiobooks (and ebooks, too). You can transfer them to other devices (like an iPod or Blackberry), and it’s free! The selection is more limited, and the lending period varies (my library allows a checkout for up to 3 weeks), but again, it’s free.
I recently listened to Mindy Kaling’s “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” Based on your writing here, I think you’d enjoy it.
Soooo… I kind of went out yesterday and happened to purchase that bag (the last one in the store, so I knew I needed to buy it!). :) I love it!

I didn’t believe in the mystical powers of peanut butter on a burger until recently – my life until then had been a total lie or something because – like, WOAH (joey Lawrence style)
