Tuesday Things.
1. There are currently big white things falling from the sky. I thought they were flower blossoms and it was windy out and I was like ohhhh that’s so pretty… NOT. They are not flowers.
2. Even though we had a totally gorgeous weekend weather wise, it dawned on me on Saturday that our AC had broke in the fall and we figured that we’d fix it in the spring. Well. Our house must have super insulation or something, because as of yesterday it was 82 degrees inside. If you’ve read this blog, you know how much I hate to be hot (I’d like to live in Antarctica). To say I was losing my mind would be an understatement.
3. Cannot even take this mexican chorizo and garlic shrimp burger. Those freaking photos. Mouth = watering.
4. To deal with the bipolar weather, I’m making a killer summer playlist. You will probably only like it if you are 65 years+.
5. Um. So now there is a link that you can click on facebook and it tells you who you should unfriend. It is seriously SPOT ON. (even better, in the comments of that post there are links to friends who “like chris brown” and other hilarious things… that should be unfriended.)
6. The 65 thoughts everyone has when they go to Trader Joe’s. It’s real… as I just had a huge TJs binge last week. Except the part about two buck chuck. We don’t get two buck chuck. Oh and #61… always. That confuses me.
7. Celery is the devil. It belongs with raisins.
8. I feel so TV lost. I’m barely watching anything! I watched Mad Men and was like WHAT. Sort of a snoozefest. I’m sort of watching Scandal so there’s that. Nashville needs to come back on ASAP. I need a new Netflix marathon and I’m thinking an old HBO show.
9. I just attempted to go to the post office at noon on tax day. How clueless am I?

I watch Scandal reliiiiiiigiously despite the fact that it’s gone downhill (from the first and second seasons). I just can’t take my eyes away/stop holding out for an Olivia + Jake relationship.
Tell me more about this link on Facebook that tells you who to unfriend. I couldn’t find anything!
oops sorry, forgot to link it – here you go! http://www.buzzfeed.com/dray/here-is-the-one-link-you-need-to-find-out-who-you-4666
Ahahahahaha Jessica you are sooo sneaky!!!
That’s hilarious! Thank you!
Do you watch The Mindy Project. I LOVE IT and I think you would too.
I live in MD and we can’t get booze in our TJ’s either! It sucks living in a puritan state.
The bells are their communication system! I don’t know specifics but it’s something along the lines of one bell is “my line is getting long so please open a new register” and two bells is “I need a price check” or something.
Yep!
1 bell: someone open up another register, we’re drowning!
2 bells: a customer needs help carrying their bags to the car (alternatively, this customer has an overflowing cart and I need help bagging)
3 bells: manager needed (for a return, a void, etc)
Oh man, 4 of the 15 people on the list are actually really good friends! I’ll have to intervene on their fandom. My old HBO show rec is Six Feet Under. So well acted and emotional and amazing. And Weeds on Netflix! Or Parenthood if you can’t get enough Peter Krause from Six Feet Under.
I second The Mindy Project- so good!
I’m pretty sure that link just shows you which of your friends like Nickelback.
That’s what it showed me as well.
Me too….I thought to myself, “when did I list that I liked Nickelback?!”
that’s the point. lol.
ding laughing at this. Going to the post office is totally something I would do, Also, have you watched New Girl? It’s on Netflix, and it is hilarious!
The Mindy Project is AWESOME. It’s such a cute, clever, girly show. Also LOVE that TJ list. I was cracking up at the cheese thoughts. That inner monologue definitely happens to me every time. It’s all so overwhelming…but in the most awesome way possible. YOLO! Haha.
You make me LOL every Tuesday! I asked a Trader Joes employee once what the bell meant and I can’t recall what he said. I guess it wasn’t very interesting!
Not a fan of Housewives of OC/Atlanta and all the others huh?? It’s my guilty pleasure and it is ALWAYS on!!!!!!
my TV obsession is all about Suits and especially The Americans. Suits, because harvey is like a grown-up, dreamy, yet cocky and arrogant (in the best of ways of course), expensive suited-up version of zack morris. i’m in love. and The Americans, because it’s set in the 80s (hello-fashion amazingness) and all about the kgb and stuff. why is it that i want to be a spy after watching that show? – wait, did i just say that out loud?
i agree…celery and raisins ruin everything.
The Wire. That is all.
so much yes to this.
Those burgers look amazing. Homemade sweet potato buns?So jealous of the organization it must take to find the time to make them.
If you haven’t already seen it I highly recommend Call the Midwife on PBS. Netflix has the first 2 seasons. I’ve yet to watch an episode without tears of joy or sadness. They do a beautiful job of making you walk away from each episode with a sense of contentment. It’s hard to explain (obviously).
Oh how I wish Pennsylvania was a normal state and our TJs sold wine!!!
Seriously. I’d love to try some of this Two-Buck Chuck, but nooo. Somehow the Quakers are still running things.
I adorrreee Trader Joe’s. I feel like every time someone comments on something interesting/delicious/cheap, my response is “I got it at Trader Joe’s.”
Luther or The Killing on Netflix. The Wire on HBO go.
Have you watched Don’t Trust the B in Apt 23? James Van Der Beek is pure genius. It is my newest Netflix obsession.
I stumbled upon that on Netflix one afternoon and LOVED it. SO very disappointed that it was canceled though. Don’t get too attached. It ends entirely too quickly.
OH EM GEE the celery comment had me laughing as my husband and I were losing it when we saw this on Portlandia:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQX44THWIyc
we won’t shut up about celery now.
Have a great day Jessica!
Parenthood! You will laugh and cry and love every second. The Wire for an old HBO show. SO GOOD.
I hate raisins, too. But I will allow celery to be present on my plate. As long as it is accompanied by ranch DIP. Dip, not dressing.
……….. and what about cream in the ridge of celery with little raisins sitting in it looking at you to bite them! Uck! One of those recipes from 1950’s entertaining.
in a vintage “Joy of Cooking” cookbook. HA!
At least The Walking Dead will be back ,but every time I see Being Human on my
DVR list ,I cry ….i can’t believes it’s over!!!!!
The Nanny. I’m almost 27 and had never seen an episode, so now I’m crawling through each work day until I can go home to mainline The Nanny on Netflix with my toddler-sized bag of dill pickle popcorn. Niles is life.
Watch VEEP! Funniest show on television. You’ll die.
I would LOVE to see a Trader Joe’s haul!
I think you would also like The Americans!!
I found Mad Men tough to get into at first, but once you watch for a while, it gets pretty addictive. You should give it another try if you start to feel more desperate about the TV situation :)
Currently loving Game of Thrones.. I know i’m late but, It. IS. AWESOME! hahah
Okay, the who to unfriend- I died when I saw it last week. (And may or may not have actually unfriended some) thanks Facebook!
I really need Nashville to come back on too! Right now we’re getting by with Parenthood, and re-watching LOST in down time. Also LOVE The Goldbergs on Tuesday nights. Its one I think anyone who grew up in the 80s can appreciate!
Watch ORPHAN BLACK – it rules!!
Have you watched Six Feet Under? One of my fave HBO shows. Oh, David.
Can you pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease post your summer playlist??? I seriously feel like I’m AT LEAST 65 with music of the music I listen to. Please and Thank you.
Burn Notice…Netflix has all of the seasons and Jeffrey Donovan is nice eye candy to watch in each episode!
Try Damages on Netflix! It’s 4 seasons in, so plenty to binge on! Or try this: http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2013/08/best-tv-shows-streaming-netflix/24#./?&_suid=13975934103460278128400421462
Hahaha — love the Facebook unfriending ;)
Also – My Trader Joe’s issue. I’m there ALL the time. No joke; at least 4 days a week. They know me by name. It’s sad. What’s more sad; I’m moving soon, and will be going to a new Trader’s Joe’s. I have to make new TJ’s friends. Oh well!
Also, if you like three buck chuck; try their Wine Cubes. I LOVE the Chardonnay. I bought two boxes at a time! at $11 for the equivalent of 4 bottles, you can’t lose!
I am like you with hating being hot, I have absolutely no heat tolerance… I caved and put the AC on my car yesterday because I was little too warm.
As for netflix binges, if you want comedy I highly recommend Parks and Rec
More serious, but still comedic at times would be Drop Dead Diva, which is now airing the final season on TV. The first season is a little WTF, but then I started to really like it!
WHere is the unfriending suggestion on FB?
I have been streaming Downton Abbey lately – looks boring at first glance, but weirdly riveting. Also I keep hearing about Orphan Black, which is supposed to be really amazing – it’s on my Amazon watchlist and hoping to get started on it soon!
Veep! The Mindy Project! Best ever.
Oh my gosh you are hysterical. I woke up feeling the same way this morning about the flower blossoms. UGH
Have a great day!
#9 I DID THE SAME THING! Such a mistake.
I kept seeing suggestions for “Arrow” on Netflix and always ignored them, thinking it was a stupid show where the main character was shallow + ran around shirtless…
Then I watched the pilot. OBSESSED. Gah. So good. It’s like Lost, Gossip Girl + Batman Begins all rolled into one show.
Loved that trader joe’s article! Made me laugh out loud :)
Umm, it was over 80 degrees in my apartment all weekend (actually the past four days) and I became so evil. I was not pleasant to be around. Hot temperatures is my least favorite thing, especially for sleeping!
I made the tax day mail run last year. Never. ever. again.
You wouldn’t mind me naming my first born after you, would you? Even if is a boy…
I almost cried when I saw it snowing today. Go away winter, nobody likes you.
I really need that burger in my life. Drool.
I hate being hot too. My bed room is poorly insulated and is an icebox in the winter. I LOVE IT. Conversly in the summer it’s uh….a brick oven.
Speaking of new Netflix binges (+ maybe I’ve missed this somewhere before on your blog, but…), I was house sitting for someone recently + watched the entire first season of Orange is the New Black. I never wanted to watch it when it first came out, because it was one of those shows that everyone was all “oh my god, you have to watch it” loosing their mind over, but once I finally gave in, I was hooked. Can’t wait for the second season in June!
You guys! I’m 99% sure TJ’s rings the bell whenever someone brings in a reusable shopping bag. It’s their way of celebrating your environmentally friendliness!
Sadly, no. It’s all about the cashiers communicating with each other or with management. (I worked at the DC TJs — or the first DC TJs, since I think they just opened up a second one — for several years.)
