Tuesday Things.
1. I’VE KEPT MY ORCHID ALIVE! Alert the press.
2. Whoa. Candied rose and crushed pistachio brownies. How do I even?
3. I have reached the point in my life where coffee is making me feel human. Like up until now, I’ve just drank it for the fun buzz. I never NEEDED it. I didn’t even drink it everyday. Um. Now? If I don’t have it, I actually feel dead. Yes, dramatically dead.
4. The most depressing news in the universe: bonne belle is going out of business. But whyyyyyy.
5. Somebody please teach me to DELETE the blurry photos off my phone. My phone currently has 7000+ photos on it and it’s just a mess. Tons are repeats, some are blurry, the rest are baby. Oh. And fried eggs. And coffee. Can we say BASIC.
6. Okay so not much TV news this week, though I did watch all of the Thursday night shows and was like WTF is going on with Scandal. I was insanely confused. But the biggest news this week is that I STARTED WATCHING PARENTHOOD! And by watching, I mean binging. Bev has been trying to get me to watch it for years. I don’t know why I refused but IÂ think it’s even better now that I have a baby and holy cow I’m obsessed. On season two now.
7. Commercial picks for the Super Bowl? Hmmm, I was sort of unimpressed. The Snickers one with the Brady Bunch thing was sort of funny though – only because of my weird crush on Steve Buscemi and his cameo at the end.
8. Did any other child of the 80s/early 90s completely LOSE THEIR MIND when Missy Elliot came on during the halftime show? Best music ever. Is there anything better to workout to? Been blasting it ever since Sunday. Also, how do kids today not know who she is? That’s what is wrong with the younger generation. (note: my husband says this about me and any band/musician from the 70s. true life.)
9. 12 justifications for your 90s Leo crush. It was real people.

i shed a big fat tear over that lip smacker news!!!! stocking up STAT.
Leo was the only celebrity crush I had growing up. (Which meant all that pent up love and adoration had only one target, and it was major!)
Coffee- I was a crazy coffee drinker before pregnancy, now-while pregnant- I feel like I could take it or leave it. Wondering if I’m going to go back to needing it to survive once my baby is born- I think yes?! I’m SOOO glad you’re watching Parenthood-its one of my favorites EVER! I think we have to re-watch from the beginning now that its over. And MIssy!! LOVED IT!
I was a crazy coffee drinker pre-pregnancy too, LOVED my coffee. I completely gave up coffee when pregnant (any drink apart from water made me feel sick even thinking about it), didn’t even miss it. I slowly started having a cup every now & again a few weeks after my baby girl was born (didn’t want any caffeine at first as I wanted to SLEEP whenever baby slept!). My girl is now nearly 12 weeks old & I’m totally back on the coffee (day dreaming about taking baby for a walk & going to get one just as soon as I’ve finished feeding. AND I decided yesterday I’m going to start watching Parenthood as my next feeding-on-the-couch-binge-watching show :) I LOVED Gilmore Girls
I refused for years to watch Parenthood as well. The first time I watched it I was hooked. Binged watched all 5 seasons last year and then waited for season 6. It was crushing to have it end.
Parenthood = Best show ever!!! I’m ready to binge watch the seasons all over again!
Look, look! Lip smacker may live on! http://www.today.com/money/dont-gloss-over-facts-lip-smacker-will-live-2D80470659?cid=sm_fbn
Oh my gosh. I am literally in the exact same boat as you: recently started Parenthood, loved it and cannot stop watching, currently on season 2. SO GOOD.
I plan on starting Parenthood after I finish Gilmore Girls. #priorities
Currently re-watching Gilmore Girls and just saw Parenthood finale!
I’m a better person with caffeine. It’s just how’s it’s going to have to be. Coffee breath I could do without though :)
1.) Parenthood is such a guilty pleasure of mine, I won’t admit that it’s one of the shows I watch..
2.) Missy Elliot has gotten me through SO MANY workouts, luv her. Is it worth it? Let me work it.
I was about to tell my husband to switch back to Puppy Bowl when Missy came on. Then I got all “this is my SH*T” and was exclaiming, “now THAT is a halftime show!” Seriously. Missy. The jam.
I was listening to 00’s hits on Songza for the past two weeks. My friend and I were jamming (okay, sloppily rapping) MIssy Elliot last week. IMAGINE HOW EXCITED I WAS TO SEE HER ON TV. I just about died. And I think I peed myself a little. TMI? But seriously.
Oh man, totally with you on Missy Elliot at the halftime show. I was freaking out. What year is this even? Such a wonderful surprise.
Such a good Tuesday Things post!!
– First Candied rose and crushed pistachio brownies — gorge!!
– I tried watching Parenthood … I can’t – granted I only watched the first ep. and yes – only because Bev was OMGWTFHOLYMOLY over it … But I can’t — and Scandal I just finished season 3, I need to find season 4 somewhere – not on netflicks :( not on Shomi :(
– MISSY on the superbowl … I had heart palpitations — ahhhhh we need her BACK!!
YESSSSS PARENTHOOD yesssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hydrate now / buy tissues.
Lovely post, very interresting.

Parenthood will make you cry every episode and it feels so gooooooood. Oh it is a good tv crying experience. Plus, the series finale (though I was so depressed that it was ending) was amazing.
SO GLAD you are finally watching Parenthood!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m almost ready to start watching it again.
Parenthood is my favorite show ever!! I watched it from the beginning b/c Hello – Lorelai Gilmore! Love love love that show. I’m so sad it’s over, but the final season and specifically the final 4 episodes were just amazing. I do think being a new parent really made me enjoy it even more as time went on. So so good!
YES! Cannot stop dancing to and listening to MISSY — let me work it, put my thang down flip it and reverse it….
hahaha i started watching parenthood this past week too!!! we binged like 4 episodes last night – omg so so good!!!!
I also recently jumped on the Parenthood bandwagon! I’m still on season 1, but I love it so far. Also feel ya on the Bonne Belle and Missy Elliot business. She saved that halftime show for sure.
I’m so very sad I missed Missy on Sunday, but I quickly watched her part of the halftime show Monday morning! It was great! :)
And Leo, always and forever has a spot in my heart. No matter how “frumpy” or hairy he gets.
I watched Parenthood for the first two seasons then stop but two weeks ago I started from season 3 and binge watched through all of it just in time to watch the finale last week. Such a beautiful show.
I love your orchid & I want it! Haha, you can delete photo’s, it’s hard sometimes though. I had over 2,000 on my phone then I updated it & it deleted them all!! I hope your having a great day!
1) Parenthood is awesome. I’ve rewatched it once, but now need to start all over since it’s done.
2) Missy Elliott was awesome! I think even some of the older generations did not appreciate her because there were complaints on my fb feed. Boo to them.
So after seeing literally 15 people post about the Parenthood finale, I tried to watch season 1. I ended up sort-of-watching/skimming through the first 4 episodes….and I just can’t do it. I can’t get into it. Maybe it’s because every time I see Peter Krause’s face all i see is his a-hole character Nate from Six Feet Under.
And I’m kinda sad about Bonne Bell. I used to have a Lipsmacker addiction and kept all of them as a collection…at the end of a year I had 50 lipsmacker tubes.
ha! def agree about younger people not knowing Missy Elliot. one kid at our party was like ‘ohh that’s the guy from The Hunger Games singing right now! he’s a singer?!’ talking about Lenny Kravitz. WHAT?? that just made me mad haha
Yes, WTF Scandal?? My husband goes “is this what you would call ‘off the rails'”? Y.E.S. Can we please just go back to the fixing?
Are you watching How to Get Away with Murder??
Parenthood is the BEST. I recently started re-watching from the beginning on Netflix. Just so so good. All the good feelings about family and what’s important in life. Love it.
that orchid is gorgeous!!
and omg no more lip smackers?!?! no. no. nooooooo
I only recently started watching Parenthood also, then learned that it just finished and I was sorta bummed about that, but nevertheless I will enjoy catching up on it anyway, I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do xD
LOL, I laughed all the way through this- too funny! I recently went through and deleted nearly all my photos off my phone. It really felt like the worst chore ever, and I swear my eyes got so strained it hurt to move them. My advice- delete 20 each day until you get the numbers down. Don’t do it all at once like I did!

top super bowl commercial pick= Budweiser puppy commercial. those get me EVERY.YEAR.
I was so excited when Missy Elliot came on!! That is, until my little sister looked at me and asked who she was. Way to make me feel old…
I can’t believe people don’t know who Missy Elliott is! That is just…wrong. I also can’t believe you have a secret crush on Steve Buscemi, haha!!!
PARENTHOOD IS SO GOOD!!!! I was hooked on the lovable characters from episode one and it just keeps getting better. So sad that this year is the farewell season :( That show gets me so emotional, I tear up in every episode! You will LOVE IT!
I too have just gotten sucked into the Parenthood vortex. I’m on season 3 and I love it, but it should really be called “The Show that makes you feel awkward until it makes you cry”
Oh my gosh! That candied rose and crushed pistachio looks soo amazing. Makes every day brownies so elegant.
OMG it was so annoying seeing the comments people were leaving. They were talking as if Katy Perry was being a fantastic person by opening the doors for other people. I had to stop myself from face palming myself!
Building the Confidence
I fly for work and thought the Doritos commercial on the plane was pretty funny.
You just made me realize that naming Leo as my favorite actor in 2015 makes me sound really old. Leo forevvvvah.
I love Katy Perry, but Missy Elliot’s performance I think stole the show!
ALL of the toddlers at our super bowl party went nuts when Missy Elliot came on!! Freak out dance party for them!
I’m dieing… we need to discuss this whole list in person! I just started binging on Parenthood this week too! I watched the first season or two when it premiered but dropped it for whatever lame reason. All the series finale talk made me dive back in! I am also obsessed with Missy again, as well as taking it upon myself to make sure all the children I come across (you know, 20-somethings) to be informed! AND then the Leo link?!?! I have disowned people for questioning my unwavering loyalty to him… down to boycotting everything Jaime Foxx now does since he unfairly won the Oscar over Leo for ‘Ray’. … I realize I need help… ;-)
Uhhh I think it’s quite obvious that a P-Hood binge was the right move. xxxx.
ahh 90’s Leo soooo true!!! I swore up and down to my mother that I would marry him! Let’s just say that did not happen.
I had a little dance party in the living room with my 2 and 4 year old during Missy Elliot’s performance and had to giggle. Such a different setting from 10-15 years ago when I danced to her songs! Also, I was totally waiting for Nelly Furtado to pop out of somewhere during Get Ya Freak On and Ciara during Lose Control.
OH MMMM GEEEE…….I just started watching Parenthood too-how did it take me so long???? I literally watched 5 episodes one day to have my husband come home and comment on my binging …ooops ..lol…
Also Missy..the best….I think because she hasn’t been pumping out as many tunes lately that is why the youngin’ don’t know who she is..but hello..get your freak on…like just the best….
Parenthood is one of the best shows I have ever seen on TV. It is a good thing you waited until after you were a mom…you will really “get” it now. BTW – we are on season six of Sons of Anarchy…OMg!!!!!!!!!!!! Between you, my brother and my friend I was forced to watch this show. Talk about binge watching. Love it but I am still devastated about Opie!!!
Missy at the Super Bowl – I was really excited, but my boyfriend practically jumped out of his chair. We’ve been dating for two years and apparently I did not know how much he liked her (I mean, he normally listens to metal music so I just didn’t know!) He has been listening to Ching a Ling on repeat, of course.
