12 Days of Christmas! I Christmas House Tour Video & Giveaway. {CLOSED}
Welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas!
I am SO excited to share with you guys that every day for the next 12 days, I’ll be vlogging (think day in the life, waaaay oversharing, Q+A videos), sharing the video here on Crumbs (and on youtube!) and holding a giveaway of my favorite things!
Here’s a peek at some of the Christmas decor in our home. So sorry if I make you nauseaus with my shaky camera skills and poor editing – I’m still learning! There are a few things I left out because I have constant #mombrain and either forgot or wasn’t able to get it together in time. Things like my favorite mini Lenox nativity set (I have no idea where to place it this year, since Max will shatter it), the Pottery Barn Kids advent/Christmas countdown calendar (that is sewn completely crooked but I refused to send back because I opened it ON the first day of advent and was determined to have a cute calendar… ), our favorite Christmas pillows and outdoor lights, etc. I wanted to wait until everything was perfect, but if I waited, I knew I’d never do it and I’ve wanted to make videos FOREVER now.
The first year we were married, Eddie surprised me and bought a tree, decorated it and made his man cave apartment a winter wonderland for us. It was actually the second tree he bought, because the first was waaaay too big, but final sale. So we ended up with two trees! That year, we put up two trees and bought lots of ornaments at Michael’s and Joann’s. That’s where the majority of our ornaments are from, along with a few Martha Stewart from Macy’s that are about eight years old and some new ones from Michael’s this year that I bought for the white tree.
I bought the white tree last year at Treetopia on sale after Christmas. The copper/blue tree is from Target this year, and by far my favorite one. The red/green decorated tree is from Frontgate and will hopefully last us a million years.
My mom made our house incredibly magical when I was growing up. In fact, she still does and I’m hoping that I can get a video of hers before these 12 days are up! She’d stay up all night for days to turn the house into a Christmas wonderland for my brothers and me. It was the most magical time EVER.
Needless to say, I’ve been a complete Christmas freak since I was a kid. When school started up again, I’d wake up early and go downstairs just so I could sit by the Christmas tree in January before we got on the bus. It was my absolute favorite!
Eddie and I were determined to make our house as Christmasy as we could for Max this year. Eddie decorated gingerbread houses for eight hours because he is a perfectionist, and even set up his own tree downstairs in the basement that I didn’t get to capture. It has been so much fun and I love sitting under the lights every night.
Enjoy! And scroll down for giveaway #1!
GIVEAWAY!
Every day for the next 12 days until Christmas I’ll be giving away some of my favorite things. I want to show every bit of my appreciation for you guys sticking here with me for over seven years, reading the rambles that I write and making my recipes and leaving comments and supporting me 100%. Even when I write horrific run-on sentences and use 34 exclamation points in one post. And say “literally.” Ugh.
THANK YOU so much for being here. You changed my life and I am forever grateful for you.
Today I’m giving away a mirrorless camera! If you read my favorites post, you know I use one all the time and I even shot a few pieces of the video here with mine. I was super excited to giveaway the Samsung nx300 that I always talk about, but unfortunately it’s no longer available. Instead, I’m giving away the comparable Sony alpha a6000, which I’ve even considered switching to. This giveaway is not sponsored or affiliated with anyone and is given by me. It is open to EVERYONE EVERYWHERE! Wahoo.
To enter: leave a comment on this post sharing your favorite holiday memory!
For a second entry: SUBSCRIBE to the howsweeteats youtube channel. There is a red button on the right side and you will only be notified when I upload a new video. This is the best way to be notified of a new video/giveaway in these 12 days too! Leave a comment telling me you did so.
For a third entry: follow howsweeteats on instagram. Leave a comment telling me you did so.
The giveaway will only be open for 24 hours (!!) so be sure to enter and share! A winner will be picked at random. Come back for a new video and giveaway tomorrow. xoxo

My favorite holiday memory is every Christmas Eve when we gather around the tree, eat cookies, and play the game Loaded Questions. It’s become even more special as the three of us sisters have added husbands to the mix :)
Every christmas morning (even though we’re jewish and don’t celebrate), I wake up extra early and make monkey bread before my family all wakes up. Then we all sit down to breakfast together before going to see a movie. It’s my favorite tradition.

My favorite holiday memory is bundling up with my family to go look at all the beautiful Christmas lights!
I love getting ready for the season! All the cookie baking/decorating, stealthy shopping, wrapping, and planning.
When I was younger, my parents would reveal my “biggest” present by sending me on a search around the house (they would give me clues and puzzles to solve to find the next clue). I always looked forward to that experience the most on Christmas day, and would be so excited when I opened a gift that said “let the games begin! clue #1”

I love getting up early, cooking all day with my Grandma and waiting for the whole family to arrive and watch them see all the good eats we’ve made!
My favorite holiday memory is making rolled out sugar cookies and decorating them with my family.
If I ever get to entirely restyle my life, I’m getting a white tree.
My favorite holiday memory is making and decorating cookies Christmas Eve. We play Christmas music and drink hot chocolate and eat as many cookies as we decorate. Then, we open up one present which is always our Christmas pajamas and watch a movie while eating more cookies. Thank you so much for everything!

My favorite holiday memory is going for a walk with my granddad on the day of Christmas Eve, singing a German children’s song in which you ask the snowflakes when they will snow, and it starting to snow later that day! The holidays just aren’t the same without him.

Lots of love!
Many of my favorite holiday memories involve time from my childhood. We seemed to get together more often and there were even more of us in my extended family than there are now! I think that they are such special memories because a lot of those loved ones have passed. Getting together and eating and sharing was so wonderful, but there’s always time to make new memories!

I love how you did Peace with 3 stockings! I alwa ys worry about getting the exact number of holders as stockings. Smart!
My favorite holiday memory is going out to eat Chinese food with my family on Christmas Day. We used to not have enough time to make a big elaborate dinner because we would spend the day visiting my 100+ year old great grandmother, so we would always just keep it simple with yummy comfort food. Even with my great grandmother’s passing, my family still continues to keep our casual dinner tradition alive. It seems silly, but it makes me remember how incredible my family members are. I love that we can enjoy the simplicity of each other’s company and make something so simple, so special. I look forward to it every year ?

Ah, this is so great, thank you! You’re the literal best (I can’t help my use of “literally” either.) My favorite Christmas memory might be more of a tradition, but this memory happens every Christmas year. On Christmas Eve, at church, it’s the moment when we turn out the lights, everyone holds up a candle, and we sing Silent Night a capella. So beautiful and always breathtaking.

Decorating the tree together on Christmas eve (that’s my family’s tradition!).
My mom always did a cookie day with me, my sisters, and my cousins. I have no idea how she managed several kids in her kitchen for a full day and all the messes we probably, presumably made!
My favorite memory is of Santa coming every Christmas Eve (my dad dressed up). We would listen for the bells, and he would shut off the power, and all of my siblings would huddle in one room together and he would come in and ask each of us what we wanted and after we would answer, he would give us an ice cold bottled root beer. Then in he morning my dad would make us line up so he could record us going in to see all our presents. My dad always made Christmas great

My favorite holiday memory is a very merry “yurtmas” where my husband and I snowshoed to a mountain-top yurt with a bottle of honey whiskey and some Christmas ale! We grilled our foil dinners and drank by the wood stove, and woke up to fresh snow. It was heavenly!

Love this post!! My dad’s cinnamon rolls are Christmas to me. We have them every year!
My favorite Christmas memory is from last year. My daughter asked Santa for RAINBOW roller skates. Yeah those were easy to find…. But when she opened them up she was running around the house screaming and it was so magical.
My favorite holiday memory is waking up Christmas morning nice and early drinking hot chocolate, eating all the extra cookies made for Santa the day before, and spending time with family❤ I also already follow your instagram!
I definitely follow you on the insta.
My favorite Christmas memory is the first year we had our dog and learned that he LOVED opening presents. Every year since, it’s brought my whole family so much joy and laughter to see how excited he is about helping everyone tear into the wrapping paper.
My favorite holiday memory is always decorating the tree and going over the memories of each ornament and now I do it will my own family.

I have a lot of wonderful Christmas memories. One of them is when I mentioned to my dad that I wanted to start a nutcracker collection. We surprised me on Christmas Eve with my very first. I still have it! (Love your blog! Thank YOU for sharing a part of your life with us and for all of the wonderful recipes. I’ve been following on Instagram – love your pics!)
Favorite memory is Christmas Eve at my grandparents who lived across the street from my mom and myself. Tons of great food and lots of family and presents to open.
