15 Minute Sesame Ramen Noodles.
Today we’re going to eat sesame noodles and pretend like we’re in college again.
Except! Except the flavor is SPOT ON in these ramen noodles. Super delicious and packed with everything that tastes amazing. And we’re tossing the gross seasoning packet so no need to be judgy. We’re making our own seasoning sauce and it’s the best thing ever. Forever ever.
GUYS!!! We are just THREE WEEKS (omg omg omg) away from the launch of the The Pretty Dish. Three freaking weeks! WOOHOO! This is another sneak peek recipe from the book and it’s one of the simplest. And the most delicious. Heck, they are all the most delicious.
If you haven’t ordered yet, you can preorder HERE!
To continue sounding like a broken record, I’m so pumped for you to see what is in this book. I am almost afraid that I’m building it up too much because I love the recipes to a wacky extent. But they are SO fantastic! And so are these free bonus recipes too!
SO.
The packaged ramen was never actually a college thing for me like it is for so many others. I don’t know who introduced me to it (it might have been my mom, but I doubt it because she cooked dinner every night and it was never something like that), but it was one of the first things I realize that I could actually make myself in the kitchen. And one of the first things that my mom actually let me make!
I mean, back in those days, I actually used the seasoning packet which most likely threw me into a carb coma 35 minutes later. It was delicious though. That’s how I remember it!
Thankfully, I stopped using the seasoning packet long ago. I still buy the noodles for things like homemade ramen soup because they are the most accessible for me. At least most times! Especially when I haven’t planned ahead.
These sesame noodles are sort of like that. I ridiculously LOVE this recipe. It’s so simple and easy and majorly packed with flavor. We’re talking embarrassingly easy.
It’s a little twist on sesame noodles (that I usually make with soba noodles) and it will seriously take you 15 minutes! Maybe even 10 if you’re really on top of your game.
The flavor base starts with coconut oil. We have fresh garlic and ginger, soy sauce and sesame oil. Chili garlic paste too!
Then the whole thing is sprinkled with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. It’s everything I want to eat when I need fast comfort food at home. Or an easy lunch. Or a dinner that takes no time at all. It’s whatever you want it to be!
Also! Don’t forget that you can still get your free 15 bonus recipes with an order of The Pretty Dish! Those recipes are pretty darn simple too.
Fork twirls forever.
15 Minute Sesame Ramen
Ingredients
- 1 package ramen noodles flavor packet discarded
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon chili garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
- 2 green onions thinly sliced
- toasted sesame seeds for sprinkling
Instructions
- Cook the ramen noodles according to the directions on the package. This only takes 2 to 3 minutes! I like to get all of my other ingredients out while waiting for the water to boil.
- While the noodles are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the coconut oil and once melted, stir in the garlic and ginger. Cook for 1 minute, then stir in the sugar, soy sauce, vinegar and chili garlic paste. Turn off the heat and stir in the toasted sesame oil. Add the noodles to the skillet and toss well to coat.
- Serve the noodles with lots of green onions and sesame seeds on top.

This looks amazing! And so easy. Can’t wait for the book!
thanks emily!
This looks soooo good! Totally wishing I could have t for lunch at work today! Can’t wait to try it out! Does it reheat well or is it good cold too? 😍
thanks shannon!! it’s amazing cold! i don’t think it reheats SUPER well, but it will do in a pinch. the noodles kind of suck up the sauce when refrigerated overnight, you know? but it’s still good!

Ok, I HAVE to know where that blue pot came from!!!!
It looks like a Mineral Blue Braiser from Le Creuset. Could be wrong though :)
yes yes! it is the le creuset braiser! https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/le-creuset-signature-braiser/
My son is obsessed with ramen already. So at age 6 he’s ready for college lol!
I love this grown up version!
I can’t wait to get my copy of The Pretty Dish! I filled out that form for the e-book but I haven’t seen it yet? I just put the order number from amazon because I wasn’t sure what the confirmation number was or where to find it. Maybe I did that wrong? Thank you!!
oh man you didn’t! did you check you junk mail? i will email you and figure this out! thanks so much amanda!
I wish this was my lunch today. It looks so good!
thanks julie!
Are you using extra virgin coconut oil? It seems like you’re using the oil for flavor, so I’m assuming you’re not using the really refined stuff, right?
yes yes, i always use virgin coconut oil because it’s what i have on hand! i use it here mostly to saute the garlic and ginger too. :)
This is the recipe I’ve been waiting for! So excited for this book to come out. I have one question though- as much as I hate making substitutions, I was wondering if I could use sweet chili sauce instead of the chili paste. I happen to have the sauce on hand and I’ve had so many toddler tantrums today I’m a little scared to go out to the store with him. Do you think this would be okay?
i’m a day late, so let me know what you did! my only thought would be it might be sweet, so omit the brown sugar if you do that?
wondering where you got that amazing enameled blue pot/skillet?
le creuset braiser! it’s AMAZING. https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/le-creuset-signature-braiser/
the best sized pot.
That moment when you realize you have ALL the ingredients to create an amazing dish… this looks so delicious!!
WOOHOO!
This is so easy to make and such simple ingredients. Love it! Especially for those weekdays when I just don’t feel like cooking.

This is awesome! A quick, easy, uncomplicated, and comforting meal for one. I would double if you’re looking to serve 2!
Found and bought gluten free ramen just to make this recipe. I’m pretty excited about it
These are sooooooo flavorful! I love them and they all came together in about 8 minutes. Thank you!
I made this dish for my daughters last night and it was AH-mazing. I added shrimp for protein and they both raved about our dinner last night. I think it would be great with flank steak or chicken as well! I will definitely be adding this recipe to my rotation. Perfect recipe for busy weeknights or lazy weekends.
I disobeyed the order to toss the flavor package… Because I made these (soo delicious by the way) but with kind of a “broth”. Still delicious but I burned my finger terribly when cooking the pork meat :(
Thanks for the recipe!!
I just made these for an after school snack for my my kids. They loved them! Huge hit!! Definitely will make again!!
Thanks!
This was delicious. We made this for dinner so we cooked veggies in with the garlic and ginger. It turned out great!
Any suggestions on veggies that would pair nicely with this? It looks delicious but I’m awful at thinking up what flavors go well together. Red pepper? Onion? Carrots?
We added broccoli roasted with soy sauce, sesame oil, and olive oil-so good!!

This was delicious and so easy. I would recommend doubling if you are cooking for 2. I added shrimp for some protein and we loved it.
This looks amazing! My cookbook should arrive Friday and I can’t wait for this to be the first dish I make!

Will make again with just one tablespoon of sesame oil. Two tablespoons was one too many, for one packet of Ramen. Otherwise, delicious!
hello there,
would love to make this recipe but where do i get chilli garlic paste?
Delicious! My family’s new favorite dinner with stir fried chicken and white rice.
I had a wonderful dish at a Thai restaurant yesterday that they said was actually their version of a Japanese-Thai fusion recipe. I searched and searched until I found this recipe, and it NAILS what I had yesterday. I think next time I’ll add some frozen stir fry vegetables and a sprinkle of crushed peanuts. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!

I have chili garlic sauce and sambal oelek. Which one should I use in this recipe?
Made this for lunch today and it was delicious! Delightfully simple but packs a flavourful punch. Next time I’ll likely add some shrimp to fill out the meal a bit as I was still hungry afterwards.
Hi ! I’m years late to the game here, but I made this tonight for the first time and my boyfriend said it was the best thing I’ve ever made him! I love to cook and try a million different recipes, but I’ve never made ramen noodles in any variety (even in college lol) so this was new for me. So simple and fast, I swear it took me longer to get out all the ingredients than to actually do the cooking. It became an instant favorite!
