Christmas Break 2019!
We’ve had the most wonderful Christmas break!
The weather has been unusually warm (like in the 50s!) and we kicked things off by walking around outside last weekend.
And having brunch at Floor 2!
Oh and also going to the milkshake factory…
We took a drive to see the lights at 7 springs. They are (unfortunately!) abysmal and look like they haven’t been touched in five years, so not much is lit. but I did find this funny tree.
We built (more!) gingerbread houses. This is Max’s favorite thing to do.
And we baked more cookies too. Mostly for Santa.
This is my salted dark chocolate chunk (but chips!) cookie recipe, btw.
I oogled over my mom’s tree before the holiday. I want to do my tree like hers next year. It’s always UNREAL.
Max loved singing on Christmas Eve the most.
It was crazy foggy! Brought a whole new meaning to… then one foggy Christmas eve…
This was our only okay attempt at a family picture. It is impossible to get one these days with the wild babes.
Look at this crab/shrimp app my uncle made!
It was delish.
Emilia stole the show.
And you can see that my aunt does her tree like my mom too. It takes them a loooong time.
MY BABIES!
This was on Christmas morning before they even saw any presents. They were listening to Santa’s letter.
And double shots of espresso were necessary.
I made cinnamon rolls, which is such a joke since we end up eating two big meals on Christmas day. We go to both sides and have a huge lunch and an equally huge dinner. But I can’t neglect the idea of a cozy breakfast on Christmas morning.
It was absolutely the best day ever. The kids are at such a wonderful age.
Here is my mom’s tree that night! INSANE!!
I also love this mantel in her family room. Next year I should do a tour of her Christmas decor!
My parents got the kids this mini baby grand piano. (Luckily? haha) it hasn’t made it’s way to our house yet.
For years, we’ve always gone to Nordstrom the day after Christmas! Eddie likes to stock up on things from the men’s sale for work. We’ve done this tradition for so long and we love it, but we may not do it again until the kids are older. We did get the ricotta jam jar at Nordstrom cafe though!! I have to say that my version… just might be better.
This is one of my favorite pictures ever. It’s just a random snap at the kids’ well check, but I love how they are both sitting similarly and focused on coloring. I want to frame it!
p.s. don’t worry, they rarely set this like and often run around like complete lunatics.
I made my deviled crab dip on Friday and you should def make it for NYE! It’s so light and rich at the same time. I saved it to my instagram highlights.
This week is going to be the most fun, because Lacy is getting married on NYE!
OMG. I can hardly wait!
I hope you’ve had a wonderful week or two. Tell me something good!

I had to laugh at your comment about the lights at 7 Springs. My brother in law drove up there three years ago, thinking it would be a gorgeous place to propose to my sister. Needless to say, it was less than picturesque and the fog made the lights even less impressive. Nonetheless, it made for a good story!
oh my gosh!! ha!
that is so true. a few years ago they set up a million lights (or something) but they are basically on the trees going in… and now they have all burnt out, but some random ones remain. it stinks!
When my oldest was about Max’s age she became obsessed with gingerbread houses too. After the holidays she would still make small graham cracker ones when allowed but I started letting her make gingerbread trees (sugar ice cream cones with canned frosting) whenever she asked. It helped me get rid of all of the excess candy that made its way into our house and the pink valentines day and pastel Easter trees were adorable. Pretty easy and cheap way to spend a cold winter day trapped inside with young ones
oh i love this bryn!! thank you for sharing. so cute!

Gorgeous little photo diary! Your kids are precious 😊 It was my 11 month old’s first Christmas and we had a busy busy day, between the grandparents bringing gifts and visiting each set of relatives. I know the years to come are going to be even more fun! Happy holidays!
your mom and aunt’s trees ARE amazing! maybe they could share a little tutorial of how to get that look? I always hold back ornaments cuz we have SO many and then wish I had have put them ALL on the tree. must do better next year.
I was looking for coffee syrup recipes today at work and came across your blog. I was shocked when you said you had lost your taste for coffee, but once I clicked that link I realized you had become pregnant. While reading your pregnancy post, saw a pic of you and your husband in instantly recognized the background as Pittsburgh, where I live too! I’m shocked and excited to find a food blogger and author in my backyard! Anyways, I’ve already found 15 recipes to make (buying the ingredients for the jam jars TONIGHT) and I’ll be requesting your cookbooks as a Valentine’s Day gift since Christmas has passed and my birthday isn’t until the spring ;)
Are Max’s plaid pants from Janie and Jack? If so, my 2 yo has the same pair!
Also, your weeknight dinner post is sponsoring 3/5 meals this week. 🙌🏻

We visited in-laws in Pittsburgh this Christmas and MAN that fog on Christmas Eve was rough driving!!! We went to Lumaze the day after Christmas and it was awesome!! Super great indoors light show and so fun and interactive for the kiddos. We have an almost 3yo nephew and he loved it. :) Also Christmas Light Up Celebration at Clinton Park was very mom and pop like for drive thru lights but was so cute!!
Oh wow! I’ve been following you for several years now and I never realized you were a fellow ‘Burgher! That’s fantastic. I love your recipes even more now :-p Happy New Years!
Please feature your uncle’s appetizer on the blog!! Or recreate it. Amazing (and doesn’t look too hard?!)
Happy New Year! Thank you for all you’ve shared over the past year.
I LOVE that little grand piano. Makes me think of Schroeder from Charlie Brown. Absolutely adorable.
May 2020 be filled with more love and joy for your family.
