May Favorites: Lifestyle.
Here’s a peek at everything I loved in May (and April!) 2021! xo
FOOD
Elemental Bars. The peanut butter and almond butter versions are my favorite. These have been lifesavers a few mornings. I love the seedy (almost crisp) texture and I actually think they taste so good. Great to have in a pinch and perfect for the morning. They are a nice switch from Perfect Bars (which I also love!)
Topo Chico Twist of Lime. Eddie and I have been obsessed with the lime topo chico the last few months. It’s just SO fizzy!
Kirkland Chocolate Coconut Cashews. Well these taste like caramel delites (or do you say samoas!) and are basically dangerous. SO FREAKING GOOD.
Lemon Lime Liquid IV. Liquid IV has saved me the last few months. For the first time ever I’ve had a really hard time drinking enough water (it’s all I drink unless I have coffee in the morning!) and with this pregnancy, it’s like I just don’t have room to drink as much. I’ve definitely felt dehydrated at times and had lots of braxton hicks from being on my feet, but hydration always clears it up. I started doing one liquid IV a day and it’s a game changer. I only ever used to drink them if I felt dehydrated from a workout or the sun. But this is EVERYTHING. The only downside for me is that they are a little sweet and I don’t like sweet drinks. You can always spread it out over two bottles of water! Lemon lime is def my favorite flavor.
FASHION
Rails Raw Hem Chambray. It’s no secret how much I love Rails shirts, but this one is next level. It’s such an old school looking wash and I love it, which is huge because I hate 90s grunge things and stuff like that. It’s so soft and comfy and I plan on living in it especially after the baby comes when I’m nursing.
Champion c9 Tanks. My favorite workout tanks ever (or just life tanks!) are on amazon now (used to be sold at Target) and they are the best. The cut is so flattering, they are so soft. I ordered a few more in a size up to accommodate this bump and it’s perfect.
Kurt Geiger Rainbow Mules. Couldn’t help myself and bought these a few months ago. They make me SO HAPPY.
HOME
Parchment Paper Baking Sheets. These sheets come in a folder so they are completely flat and ready for baking sheets. I love it. There is no ripping from a roll and they don’t bunch up from being rolled up.
Bose Soundlink Bluetooth Speaker.
Fabric Shaver. I discovered this a few months ago and it’s changed the game for some of our furniture. It’s been great at removing pilling from our couch and chair! It’s also weirdly satisfying, as I’m sure you can imagine.
MEDIA
Erin Church Heart & Soul Album. Cannot.get.enough. Seriously. I’ve been listening to Eric Church nonstop and love all the new music. I even ended up very optimistically buying concert tickets for later this year (no idea if we will feel comfortable going when the time comes!) because I can’t stop. It’s just so, so good.
Abby Jimenez Life’s Too Short. This is our May book pick and I read it in April – I looooove all of Abby Jimenez’s books and this one was no different. Such a great story. You can read a mini review in my what I read in April post.
Mare of Easttown. It feels like there has been nothing good on TV for months, but this HBO show is amazing. Kate Winslet is just.so.good in it! I am loving it. There are only five episodes out right now but it’s def my favorite.
KIDS
Color changing rain coats. The kids got these as gifts and they are the nicest rain coats they’ve ever had! First, they are fun. Second, they are lined so well and pretty warm – they’ve been wonderful in the chilly spring. Third, they snap which both kids can easily do. So nice!
Babiators. I’m in sunglasses 24/7 because my eyes are so sensitive and the kids wear them often too. I don’t know if it’s from having light eyes (I’ve heard this but who knows), but we’ve used babiators since Max was one. We’ve never lost or broken a pair. They are 100% worth it. I love that they are polarized and fit snuggly but don’t hurt their ears. They are almost stretchy, if that makes sense!
Dino Eggs. We got these for the kids for easter and it was their first time having them. Both are obsessed with dinosaurs so this has been SO fun for them to do together. It’s kind of messy but since it’s warm out now, we just do it outside!

Thanks for the recommendation on the Elemental Bars – I’ve been struggling to find good gluten free snacks since I found I had to cut it out so I’ll try them.
The Liquid IV is great! My stepdad has advanced Parkinson’s and has constantly had additional issues (to the point he was delirious) because he wasn’t drinking enough water. His doctor recommended Liquid IV and my mom makes him a big jug every morning and made it a goal to drink it each day. He hasn’t had any issues with dehydration since.
I’m putting the color changing raincoats on the list to get my nieces for Christmas – they look like so much fun!
i love that. it really is amazing!
Pre-cut sheets of parchment paper are a life saver!!! I’ve been using the ones from Reynolds, which come folded in squares and have a light grid printed on them. I love them, mostly because of their perfect size and there’s way less fuss when I make cookies now. They’re hard to find, though, so I’m so glad you posted a link to these ones on Amazon!! Thank you!
they really are so great!
Hi Jessica! I have an alternative to Liquid IV, LMNT @drinkLMNT. They have no sugar and a great electrolytes. on their IG they have shown how good it is for breastmilk production :) Watermelon salt, is my favorite, followed by Orange salt, then citrus Salt. Defiantly give them a try.
ooooh i’m def gonna try!! thank you so much!!
I bought a fabric shaver! It’s being delivered tomorrow and I can’t WAIT to give some of my crappy looking shirts a going over. High five!
ENJOY! lol
I’m going to order those elemental bars they sound really good. I just ordered those shoes. I thought I didn’t really need any spring or summer shoes but I cannot resist.
the bars are so good!
Those new Eric Church albums!! ❤️❤️ I can’t remember the last time I fell so hard for new music! I would love to see him do this new stuff live. Looking at some show dates later this summer :)
AGREE! i love him so much!
Where do you get topo chico around here?! Ive ordered it online before and it was like 50 bucks for a case so I dont want to keep doing that but I’ve never seen it in a store here
whole foods!
Can confirm they also have them at Whole Food around here and I live in MA. I’ve also occasionally seen them at Wegman’s and some other grocery stores in the ‘organic’ aisle.
Thank you so much for sharing about LiquidIV. I’m pregnant and having a lot of issues with water intake, which is weird because I’m one of those people that LOVES water and is always drinking water…not with this pregnancy, which is weird for me. Anyway, excited to try it and just ordered a bunch.
So glad to hear that those c9 tanks are on amazon! I have a couple (bought I think through your recommendation) and they really are great- I especially love the length and how soft they are! I was so sad to see they weren’t in Target anymore, but now I can stock up on a few more!
If Liquid IV is too sweet for you definitely try LMNT- they have no sugar so it just tastes like salt+whatever flavor you get (I like the citrus one). I also like nuun (the powder, I’ve never tried the tablets) and have heard SOS is good too.

Have you watched Younger on HULU yet? Great show, quick episodes. Dreamy cast too!
