Summer Fridays, Vol 2.
Happy happy summer fridays! XO
EATING
Um hi, I’m still knee deep in a strawberry obsession over here! I’m very sad we didn’t get to go strawberry picking yet this year. But we’ve been enjoying local ones and all I can think about is my strawberry focaccia. And this strawberry grilled chicken poppyseed salad!
BAKING
My strawberry cobbler bars. RUN don’t walk and bake them. They are so good! The original is a peach blueberry combo from The Pretty Dish.
MAKING
My loaded hummus havarti sandwiches for lunch! I adore these in the summer. They are so crisp and fresh and wonderful. I also can’t stop with the tomato confit from Everyday Dinners, which is what is pictured about. It’s INCREDIBLE.
CRAVING
Please tell me you’ve made my sweet cream cold brew fudgesicles before! It’s been SO HOT here and I can’t stop dreaming about them. I even bought some old-school fudgesicles for the kids this week.
GRILLING
We are allllll about the grilled pizza right now! I am craving my grilled steakhouse pizza – it’s so darn good. I also love these grilled watermelon and halloumi skewers with minted basil oil!
DRINKING
Majorly into my whipped coconut cream cold brew right now, even though I haven’t loved drinking coffee this pregnancy. Also can’t wait to make my spicy watermelon sangria later this summer.
READING
Malibu Rising is on the list for me this weekend. I can’t wait, because the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is my all-time favorite book and I love everything TJR writes! If you need suggestions, head to my huge summer reading list!
LISTENING
My 2021 summer country playlist! Last year the 2020 version got me THROUGH the spring and summer – gave me all the warm summer feels when things were so scary. This year’s playlist is just as good and I am loving so much of it!
WATCHING
Definitely want to start Hacks on HBO. Have you seen it yet?!
PACKING
I finally packed my hospital bag… and I got the crazy cloud-like pillow slides that are so ugly but ridiculously comfortable. I’m also obsessed with this mason grey robe and want to find it in all black. They are ridiculously soft! Other than that, I feel like I’m not taking much at all.
WEARING
We were swimming over the weekend and since I’ve never been THIS pregnant in summer, I had to figure out a suit just for a few weeks! I thought ordering up a size would work but found in many try ons that wasn’t successful because the suit wouldn’t stretch over the bump, haha. What I DID find and that I am absolutely obsessed with this is swimsuit from aerie. OMG. It’s so soft and stretchy and wonderful – it did work in a size up and I think it will work a few weeks after birth too. I’m also just losing it over how pretty some of these tie dye maxi cover ups are!
SHOPPING
You know, I really didn’t think I needed any baby stuff, but then as time went on, I realized that so many of my things are seven years old (from Max!) and that there are a few new things out. Since we don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, I’ve grabbed a few nuetral outfits from lou lou & company, favorites to match the kids from little sleepies, a new dockatot cover (we used it constantly with Emilia!) and I’m considering a Doona too, after seeing Lacy use it for the last seven months (it’s incredible!). We’re still going with our bassinest for sleep (something I impulse purchased at 39 weeks when pregnant with Max), which has been my favorite thing for both kids!

Aerie suits are so pretty! I took a risk and ordered my bikinis from SHEIN 😂
I thought girl all along but now have a feeling you may be having a boy! I experience a huge aversion to coffee too (and tomato based foods! The acid I guess. So weird) time will tell 👶🏼
I’m listening to your playlist right now – great selections! And I know I’m going to love Malibu Rising so much that I’m waiting for summer break to officially begin in a couple of weeks so that I can really savor it.
Just discovered your blog and I love it!
I’m probably the last person on the planet to this party, but as a fellow reader I had to share the treasure trove I just found. Check out NPR’s Book Concierge, its the converge service a true reader needs in their life! Happy Reading!
I am tearing through Malibu Rising! I’ve read for about 45 minutes the past 3 nights and I’m already halfway through. It pulls you in just like Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones!
I always love these summer Fridays! off to check out a new book and recpe!
This little baby will be here SO soon! I am so excited for your family. My third just turned 2…it goes by so fast. Congrats, and enjoy those last baby wiggles in your belly. ❤️
No Currently Crushing On up yet on the site as of Saturday afternoon….I’m wondering if it’s because it’s baby time!
I’m waiting to hear if you’ve had your baby yet.
Can’t wait to hear!
I just want to dive head-first into the picture at the top! I’ve read the post 3 times and can’t find a reference to or a link for it. Help!
